Rewards are given by the King as a gift to active hunters. The Hunter must enter a gift code (also known as a CAPTCHA) in order to receive the King's Reward and continue playing. This prevents players from being able to use automated software that will cause a player to blow the Hunter's Horn even though the user is not actually playing actively.

King's Reward requires a Hunter to enter a 5-digit alphanumeric code to redeem the reward.

After entering the correct code, hunters receive gift of Gold from the King. The amount received is a random value between 1000 and 1500 gold, independent of the Hunter's Title.

The reward occurs at random times. While a King's Reward is pending, a hunter cannot be taken on hunts by friends in his hunting group. However, hourly trap checks will continue. Once the hunter is inactive for a longer period of time, the reward timer is reset. The reset occurs regardless of whether the King's Reward is currently pending or not. This keeps players from having to clear the code each time they log in.

History and Trivia

  • On 8 June 2010 the King's Reward was disabled as MouseHunt received a major update to version 3.0 (Longtail). It was reintroduced to the game approximately a week later.
  • Prior to version 3.0, the King's Reward was either Cheese, Points, or Gold; it was via this reward system that Gouda cheese was introduced to the game.
  • Prior to version 3.0, the King's Reward may require the Hunter to type in a 2-digit number in one of the three shapes specified (triangle, square or circle).
