Talk:Obvious Ambush Trap

From MHWiki

Ambush

To avoid the editing wars ;) I still think that Ambush is a related weapon for these reasons:

  • The name
  • One of the ingredients is the same in both weapons
  • The stats are similar

It may even be related to Blackstone Pass Trap due to the stats.

Your arguments are:

  • Ambush is obtained much earlier in the game and does not contribute a crafting ingredient for this weapon.
That does not necessarily mean it's unrelated. For example, Mouse DeathBot lists Chrome DeathBot as related, only because of the name. It did not provide a crafting ingredient (CDB was for sale at Ronza).

What do other editors think? -- camomiletea 05:30, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Nothing personal of course. Chrome DeathBot has a nearly identical physical appearance to Mouse DeathBot so that relationship is understandable. One common component is not very convincing, especially considering that other weapons contain droids as well (e.g. Launcher family of hydro weapons). They may have similar stats (mainly power and type), but they are not interchangeable in purpose like other related traps. I think you summarized my main reasons against.
If you feel very strongly about adding it, include a description for the relationship. The description linking this to Blackstone Pass will likely be updated in the future to reflect the Mystic/Technic difference. --Hyperchao 07:05, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
The way I look at it is that their a family of related Tactical traps that all have 3000 power. The Ambush trap is logically replaced by the Obvious Ambush Trap or Blackstone Pass Trap which both have similar stats with the difference being the preference for Very Fresh or Very State cheese effect. --Ralphminer 09:10, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
If Ambush were the direct predecessor of the new weapons I would probably agree, but after Ambush we have at least two tiers separating: the Venus Mouse Trap variants and the ZFM. Only THEN do we get the Obvious Ambush and Blackstone Pass. --Hyperchao 04:28, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
