Organization of Loot

"unimportant Loot with just 1 or 2 lines of description" meaning non-cheese loot? Also, does the "main article" refer to Loot or something like an all-in-one article on a specific type of loot like Cheese?

Might be better if redirected to the Crafting page. Most of these are just pages with the description of the item and a link to the image.

Maps and keys to areas already have a this. In my opinion, it would be better to consolidate all of these into that page.

Basically anything not major enough to warrant it's own page should be centralized. For example, Susheese, Rumble etc, all redirect into Crafted cheese. And yes, most of those pages shouldn't have a single page by themselves but should be redirects to an appropriate page.
Regarding the maps, yes I do think they need to be centralized into something like the Crafted cheese page. No information will be lost in this way. It'll probably need a new name though. Map Pieces doesn't fully explain it. -- Grexx 09:59, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Maybe something like Maps and Keys will suffice? --Mikeyco 10:09, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

I looked through all the loot items in this article. The only ones that link to their own separate individual pages are those in Miscellaneous section: Champion's Chest and Mysterious Box... And I'm not even sure Champion Chest belongs here, really. We don't list Tournament Tokens as loot. What exactly needs to be done with this article (I can't get a clear understanding)? -- Camomiletea 18:48, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Possibly a redundant page? I haven't really looked deep into this article yet, but with the recent improvements made on the other major articles, this just seems quite useless to me at the moment. I had a peek at the early history, and the goal seemed to be just a rubbish dump for every item they could think of lol. -- Grexx 18:59, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

With the Winter Hunt 09 plenty of items have been added; would it make more sense to, for example, organize it such that they're grouped by events? For example, it could be possible to move Ronza's Satchels to a cat named "Ronza"? And also, the three colored satchels link to the same page and share (almost) the same name - would it make more sense to make them one entry, or leave them as they are? -- Denunciator 02:14, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Actually, the main problem, as has always been the case, is that this page has no clear direction at all. As I mentioned a couple of months back, it is no different from a garbage dump at the moment. If someone can come up with a good way to organize this article, do put out the ideas. In its current form, there is little value to this page other than as a jumping point to other articles. -- Grexx 16:04, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm thinking of the following arrangement, which matches the order of tabs where you can find inventory counts (Travel, then Inventory):
1. Travel
1.1. Maps and Keys (current section 1.8)
2. Inventory
 2.1 Cheese (current section 1.1)
 2.2. Traps
2.2.1 Weapons - for now, no weapons are loot
  2.2.2 Bases (current section 1.2)
 2.3. Crafting
  2.3.1 Blueprints (current section 1.6)
2.3.2 Other regular crafting (current section 1.4) - maybe we should split this by Cheese, Dojo, General, Trap Parts, Tribal Isles to match
2.3.3 Event crafting (current section 1.5)
 2.4. Potions (current section 1.3)
 2.5. Special
2.5.1 Regular specials (most of current section 1.10)
2.5.2 Event specials (current section 1.9)
2.6. Collectibles (teddy bear from section 1.10, Crown Jewel, ZLS)
2.7. Torn Pages (current section 1.7)
3. Bonuses (current section 1.11)
 3.1 Research
 3.2 Gold
4. External Links (current section 2)
My biggest reason for the above rearrangement is that sticking Crown Jewel and Zugzwang's Left Sock in Loot#Miscellaneous doesn't make since, since they don't show up on the same tab as chests, but none of the other existing sections are any better. In the meantime, I'm adding the remaining recent loot additions from Zugzwang's Tower. Thoughts before I start re-arranging sections? ericb 22:30, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
This rearrangement still needs to happen, especially now that I've created a central Special page. -- ericb talkcontr 17:12, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
I've created two alternative layouts: Option 1 and Option 2. Which do you prefer? Personally, I like option 2, as it lets you sort by what's most important to you at the time (name, inventory category, event-only, ...). -- ericb talkcontr 12:51, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
I agree with you on Option 2. Since the list is quite long by now could we include an alphabet short-cut row like in the Mice-article? ____m. 20:12, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
I like option 2 also! -- camomiletea 04:06, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
Done, using option 2! -- ericb talkcontr 12:51, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Larry's Loot Lexicon

I assume all loot now has a Lexicon entry. You can view them before you own the item if you know the URL. Should we keep a list of links to each Lexicon entry? I'm thinking it would warrant its own page, since not everything would be covered if we added a column to the crafting items page. --Hyperchao 22:20, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

Or here so we don't have to maintain two lists of loot items. --Hyperchao 22:32, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
Was thinking about this too. Why not start a list here on the talk page so we can try out the formatting a bit and then move it wherever we want it to be? ____m. 22:54, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
So far, it seems to follow a pattern of "<name_with_underscores>_<type>" - "weapon" for trap weapons, "base" for bases, "craft_item" for crafting items, "potion" for potions. I have no info on maps, or other loot types. The only exception to the names is the Acro trap, which is "acronym_weapon" rather than the whole name. Possibly due to url length. Draobyek 23:04, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
Also, some examples for you:
Draobyek 23:07, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
Seasonal Garden keys:
They aren't completely consistent with their naming, much like their mice pages. --Hyperchao 01:44, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Not to forget "cheese" for the cheese, for example: http://apps.facebook.com/mousehunt/item.php?item_type=brie_cheese and http://apps.facebook.com/mousehunt/item.php?item_type=gilded_cheese. Also I found this by substitution: http://apps.facebook.com/mousehunt/item.php?item_type=moon_cheese.
It seems that the new crafting items (i.e. in Seasonal Garden / Zugzwang's Tower) are "crafting_item", while old ones are "craft_item". See http://apps.facebook.com/mousehunt/item.php?item_type=mystic_page_crafting_item , http://apps.facebook.com/mousehunt/item.php?item_type=technic_page_crafting_item , http://apps.facebook.com/mousehunt/item.php?item_type=mystic_crystal_crafting_item , http://apps.facebook.com/mousehunt/item.php?item_type=mystic_curd_crafting_item , http://apps.facebook.com/mousehunt/item.php?item_type=tech_cheese_mould_crafting_item . Scrap Metal is "craft_item"... -- camomiletea 03:35, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

For collectible items, the postfix seems to be "_collective", e.g.: http://apps.facebook.com/mousehunt/item.php?item_type=crown_jewel_collective -- camomiletea 04:32, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, maybe not. Zugzwang's left sock: http://apps.facebook.com/mousehunt/item.php?item_type=zugzwang_sock_collectible -- camomiletea 18:47, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Satchels of gold are named this way: http://apps.facebook.com/mousehunt/item.php?item_type=gold_satchel_1000_bonus_loot -- camomiletea 12:43, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Hunting Research: http://apps.facebook.com/mousehunt/item.php?item_type=hunting_research_10000_bonus_loot ____m. 11:20, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
Map Pieces: http://apps.facebook.com/mousehunt/item.php?item_type=keepers_candle_map_piece ericb 01:15, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

A list has been more or less completed in this spreadsheet. -- camomiletea 05:12, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Missing Loot

I just realised that Magic Essence is missing for Crafting – Cheese and Acolyte Relic for Bonus Points. I understand that they are not dropped directly but hidden in another loot but I have the feeling it should be mentioned nevertheless. Opinions? ____m. 14:54, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

There's a number of items that are only found inside Special and not directly dropped as loot. I think the loot page should just be for direct drops (for example, notice how Frozen Scroll is listed as an event-specific drop, with the event being pre-MH 3.0, since the only way to get it now is by opening Mysterious Box). But we can add a paragraph at the top that mentions that there are some non-loot items to be found by opening looted special items. -- ericb talkcontr 16:37, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
I understand the intention of your edit but it doesn't really solve the problem I see with usability and user friendliness. What I meant was: If a user finds a recipe somewhere around here and sees an item that can be (only) obtained through Loot s/he might type in »Loot« into the search-box and might be baffled not to find the item here (example HB-BP). Well, I guess if a player is looking for a special item he doesn't (necessarily) end up here anyway. Never mind. ____m. 08:49, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
