"Anytime a mouse is not attracted to a trap during a hunt there is a chance for the cheese to turn stale. Some components are built using harmful chemicals that increase the odds of spoiling bait. Traps with a positive cheese effect help reduce the likelihood of cheese turning stale."

The cheese effect of bases and weapons determines the rate at which cheese goes stale. Regardless of the cheese effect of the hunter's trap and base combination, there is always a chance for cheese to turn stale.

Possible Variations

As of version 2.3.1, cheese effects have been changed to variations of "Fresh" and "Stale". Combinations of these result in cheese effects that include:

  • Ultimately Stale
  • Insanely Stale
  • Extremely Stale
  • Very Stale
  • Stale
  • No Effect
  • Fresh
  • Very Fresh
  • Extremely Fresh
  • Insanely Fresh
  • Ultimately Fresh
  • Über Fresh

Über Fresh is currently the maximum freshness level a trap combination can reach, even with an Obelisk of Slumber (Extremely Fresh) paired with Polar Base (Insanely Fresh).
