Loot
+
More questions that are regularly asked by members of the MouseHunt community can be found on the Commonly Asked Questions page.

Q. For the last three days or so I haven't had a mouse drop any loot. I have been catching plenty of mice in both the harbour and the mountains, but haven't got any loot.
+
Strategy
 +
MouseHunt is an open-ended game with no one correct path or one correct way to play the game. As you play the game you will gain access to new locations and discover a variety of mice.

A. You still "collect earnings" from the gold that mice drop.
+
Q. Where do I go next?
Loot is a rare and infrequent thing. I haven't seen loot in several days, either. Not all mice in all areas have loot to drop. Sometimes loot is restricted to a certain type of mouse in a certain environment. That's simply how the system works.

It's not about luck. It's the fact that thousands of players join MH every day, adding to the numbers, and the percentage of mice who drop loot stay the same, so over time, thousands of other players are catching the mice that drop loot.

Thus, as the number of MH players grows, the number of mice you catch with loot naturally becomes more infrequent.

 +
A. The Adventure Book is meant for players to easily see at a glance what they might need to buy or do at a particular location.

Q. There are a number of us who have been killing zombies left and right for some time with no luck getting the cloth map, while others have enough for a tent! I understand the need for the luck factor, but it's getting ridiculous!
+
Q. What trap should I be using?

A. Not all zombies carry the cloth and it does come down to luck being the deciding factor in catching one that has a cloth.
+
A. It all depends on your goals and location. Are you more interested in catching mice, earning gold, or earning points? The Trap Setup Options page will give you some options depending on your location. Some hunters like to rely on traps with high power and other hunters prefer traps with high luck. Experiment and see what works well for you.
Hoarding radioactive blue cheese potions while waiting for a tattered cloth will prove to be a worthwhile strategy however.

 +
Q. What impacts how many mice are attracted to my trap?

Q: I am in the mountains, I do not see any more locations what is next.
+
A. Different cheeses have different attraction rates. The attraction bonus on weapons and bases can also limit the number of hunts that end in a failure to attract.

A: In the mountains, you catch a ninja that is carrying the map piece to the lab. In the lab you catch a dwarf that is carrying the key to digby. Or in the lab you catch a zombie that has the tattered mausoleum cloth. in the mausoleum you catch a lycan mouse that has the shredded furoma map which takes you to the training ground. In the training ground you get a ticket for the bazaar dropped by a archer, samurai, kung fu and assassin. once at the bazaar, you go to the cartographer where he repairs the map to unlock the dojo. It takes a day to repair.
+
Q. What impacts loot drops?

Trading
+
A. Trap setups with higher luck are more likely to drop loot.

Q. How can I buy SB+ through trading?
+
Marketplace
A. Hover over your Friends tab, there should be a 'Trade SUPER Brie+' option, click on that.
+
Q. How can I buy X through trading?
Here you will find the Market Place board. You can post your requests for super brie, with your trade link, and sellers of SB+ can trade with you direct.

 +
A. Hover over your Shops tab and click the Marketplace option. Search for the item that you're intending to buy in the Search For Items section in the top-right-hand corner. Once you have found it, clicking on it will bring you to that item's trading page. You can then choose to buy that item by clicking the yellow Buy button. Enter in the quantity and gold/each and click on the Place Buy Order to finalize your buy order. Note that for buy orders, the amount of gold shown in the buy order includes the 10% tariff that was imposed by the King.

Q. Where is my Trade Link?
+
Q. How do I sell X through trading?

A. Hover over your Friends tab, there should be a 'Trade SUPER Brie+' option, click on that.
+
A. Follow the steps listed above for buying X, except now you should click the yellow Sell button. Enter in the quantity and gold/each and click on the Place Sell Order to finalize your buy order. Note that for sell orders, you can choose either to input in the amount of gold that will be shown publicly in the sell order (including the 10% tariff that was imposed by the King) or the eventual amount of gold you receive when your sell order has gone through.
Your unique trade link is just above the Marketplace Board - it starts with http://apps.

Crafting
 +
Q. Do I need to complete Recipe Tasks in order to craft a certain recipe?

Q. How do I sell my SB+ through trading?
+
A. No, you can simply use this wiki to search for the crafting recipe of the item you wish to craft and then use the Crafting Table to learn and unlock the recipe.

A. There are a couple of ways do to this:
+
Q. How do I craft a certain recipe more than once?
Hover over your Friends tab, there should be a 'Trade SUPER Brie+' option, click on that.

You can type the name of the person you wish to sell to in the Send A Request Box, this will take you to the scoreboard, where you can click

on thier name to see thier MH profile, then click on Send Trade Request (on the left of thier profile page).

You can also go directly to the trade screen if you have thier unique trade link, just click on this and it will take you to the trade screen.

At the Send A Request box, double check that the name on the Offer to Sell line is the person you want to trade with,

enter the amount of cheese you wish to sell in the Pieces of Cheese, enter the price PER PIECE of cheese in the Price per piece - REMEMBER - the King takes 10% tax from the trade,

So if you are selling 10 pieces for 300 per piece you will receive 2700 gold.

Click on the Send button, (your cheese is automatically taken from your inventory)

- this will send a request to the person, they can accept or cancel the request. You can also cancel the request.

If the request is cancelled by either person your cheese is returned to your inventory.

 +
A. Once a recipe has been used, it will become unlocked in your Recipe Book. Use the search function to find the recipe that you used and click on the Craft button to open the recipe. You can then set the number of times you want to craft that recipe.

Q. How many trades can I set up?<br>
+
Q. If I leave Pepper Plants unpicked for a longer time, will they produce more peppers?
A. You can have 3 trade requests and 5 trades received at any one time.

 +
A. No, the output of picking pepper plants is random and not dependent on time.

Q. Where can I sell my spare maps and potions?<br>
+
Logs
A. You can only sell SB+.
+
Q. I was away for the weekend and just got home now. Why does my log show no trap checks since 9 AM yesterday?

Q. I keep getting unsolicited trade requests - can I block them?<br>

A. No, not at the moment. You can have a max of 5 trades received though, so once you have 5 just don't delete them.

Shops
Q. I am hunting in the Laboratory. When I click on the Trapsmith, I see some traps that I don't see when I return to the Town of Gnawnia to purchase them, such as the Sinister Portal. I have the total points and gold required to purchase it, but when I return to the town to purchase, it is not on the list of traps. Am I missing something?

A. You need to go to Digby to buy these traps. To get to Digby you need to catch a Dwarf mouse with a key in the Lab.

Hunting/Logs
Q. I am in the Lab. I have in my log that I travelled to the Lab, the hunters horn sounded I caught something in the Lab, the very next round I caught a brown mouse in town, without ever leaving the Lab...

A. Mice can follow you from your previous location - it is not a glitch.

Q. I have a large hunting party - but I only ever get 250 points max when I blow the horn.

A. You may only bring up to 25 friends with you who are ready to hunt and in the same area as you, hence you can never achieve more than 250 bonus points for sounding the horn.

Q. I have been away for the weekend and just got home now. I have checked my hunting log and it seems I’ve not hunted since 9am yesterday. I’m not talking hunters horn, I mean no trap checks. So since yesterday at 9am I’ve caught a white mouse and I caught that at 18.35 just as I signed in and sounded the horn.  Is there anything you can do about this? I mean it’s more than 24hrs out of action.

A. You only get trap checks for the first 24 hours after your last activity.

Q. I keep getting red boxes in the Mousoleum. It must be a bug, no-one can be this unlucky.

A. Welcome to the major league;) The Mousoleum is tough going, you need to be well prepared when you enter, hopefully you will make it back out in one piece!

Q. The times in the log are showing as GMT, it used to be in my time zone, now it's back to GMT, which is a bit frustrating.

A. This is entirely out of our control. We use a Facebook controlled tag that converts the time for us.

Q. It seems that searching in the discussion boards always gives no results?

A. The search function doesn't work. The forums/message boards are not MouseHunt/HitGrab programs/software, but are in fact Facebook's and are very limited in their capabilities, you can however look at your posts from the drop down menu.

A. Before looking too deeply for answers to your problem to start with, please initially clear the caches in your browser. This will ensure that you have the latest files, images and scripts stored locally in your browser cache. If you still have a problem afterwards then look below for further specific answers on what may causing your problem, or post to the Tech Support and Help Discussions area of the MouseHunt forum if no answer appears in this FAQ.

Q. The game doesn't seem to be playing right, horn not blowing, pictures not showing in the right place, things like that - I'm using Google Chrome.

A. Google Chrome is an unsupported beta version browser.  Once it has a stable version it should work.

Q. I've added this application, but it doesn't appear on my application list so each time I have to search for mouse hunt, select application then click on join the hunt. Is there any way to add this application to my list?

A. When you are in the Mouse Hunt app an icon should appear on your application bar at the bottom of your page - it will be to the right hand side of any other apps you have book marked and it will have a green cross on it. Just click on it and it will book mark Mousehunt - so it will always be on your application bar at the bottom of the page.

Q. I know Facebook won't allow gold for invites, but many other apps are giving gold for friends who actually add applications from your invite.

A. This is a violation of the Facebook terms of service; any applications still rewarding players for invites may be subject to removal from FB. Any sort of incentive for inviting your friends is where the violation lies, regardless of when the user receives the incentive.

Q. I am currently listed as "A Shrouded Figure" in the rankings, as are several of my friends. I don't remember doing anything funny to my privacy settings which would have caused this, and neither do my friends, but we must have done something. I'd rather just be listed with my name. Is there a way to fix this?

A. Shrouded Figure is usually given to someone with high security settings, if this is not the case it has been known to be a glitch between old/new facebook. Try uninstalling MouseHunt then re-installing it - you won't lose anything ;)

Q.  I was under the impression that Super Brie had a 99% chance of attracting a mouse, regardless of what type of cheese the mouse prefers. If this is the case, the chance of 11 mice not being attracted in a row would be like 1.0 e-11, so I’m starting to think that something is just broken...

A.  If you look closely at the description for Super Brie+, you will notice that it says it has a 99% success rate for Gnawnia mice.  This success rate does not apply when hunting in the Burroughs Region.  This includes the Lab, Digby, and the Mousoleum.

Q. Where can I get a Chrome Deathbot that some people on my hunters list have?

A. Chrome Deathbot was a limited edition trap available only available to buy during the reward weekend in August 2008.

Q. Occasionally when I'm clicking I get a blue banner at the top of my screen, above the scroll but below the big yellow 'welcome to mouse hunt'.

It goes pretty quick but it says:

Your Browser does not have java script enabled - features on mousehunt may not function correctly.

A. This is the intended behaviour. The <noscript> tag does not work in Facebook so we make the warning message appear at the top and then use javascript to hide the message. If a user does not have javascript the message will never go away and therefore serve its purpose. The speed of your connection/browser determines how fast the message goes away.

Q. I am currently listed as "A Shrouded Figure" in the rankings, as are several of my friends. Q. I sent gold to one of my friends (I'm nice like that) ;). It charged me 50% tariff but we are not that far off each other in points. I have 427 my friend has 707.
+
A. If your MouseHunt account is connected via Facebook, MouseHunt may display "A Shrouded Figure" if you've changed your privacy settings or removed the application. If you haven't changed your privacy settings, check your MouseHunt profile again at a later time, the system may resolve the error automatically.

A. The tariff is percentage based, since your friend has almost double the points than you a full 50% was charged. The equation works out the same for two players with 100 and 200 points each or players with 50,000 and 100,000 each.

More questions that are regularly asked by members of the MouseHunt community can be found on the Commonly Asked Questions page.

Strategy

MouseHunt is an open-ended game with no one correct path or one correct way to play the game. As you play the game you will gain access to new locations and discover a variety of mice.

Q. Where do I go next?

A. The Adventure Book is meant for players to easily see at a glance what they might need to buy or do at a particular location.

Q. What trap should I be using?

A. It all depends on your goals and location. Are you more interested in catching mice, earning gold, or earning points? The Trap Setup Options page will give you some options depending on your location. Some hunters like to rely on traps with high power and other hunters prefer traps with high luck. Experiment and see what works well for you.

Q. What impacts how many mice are attracted to my trap?

A. Different cheeses have different attraction rates. The attraction bonus on weapons and bases can also limit the number of hunts that end in a failure to attract.

Q. What impacts loot drops?

A. Trap setups with higher luck are more likely to drop loot.

Marketplace

Q. How can I buy X through trading?

Q. How do I sell X through trading?

A. No, you can simply use this wiki to search for the crafting recipe of the item you wish to craft and then use the Crafting Table to learn and unlock the recipe.

Q. How do I craft a certain recipe more than once?

A. Once a recipe has been used, it will become unlocked in your Recipe Book. Use the search function to find the recipe that you used and click on the Craft button to open the recipe. You can then set the number of times you want to craft that recipe.

Q. If I leave Pepper Plants unpicked for a longer time, will they produce more peppers?

A. No, the output of picking pepper plants is random and not dependent on time.

Logs

Q. I was away for the weekend and just got home now. Why does my log show no trap checks since 9 AM yesterday?

A. You only get trap checks for the first 24 hours after your last activity.

Donations/Offers/Prize Mice

Q. I just made a donation to this game, so why didn't I receive the cheese?

A. Please use the donation support Contact Form.

Q. I caught a prize mouse (yay me) - how do I claim my prize?

A. You should get a green banner at the top of your page pretty soon - follow the instructions on there - and congrats :)

Common Problems

Q. How do I fix my problem with the King's Rewards? I can't see the image or I'm typing the correct code but it says it's incorrect.

A. First - try logging out of Facebook, then clear your cache/private data, then log in again. If that doesn't work click on the 'Open Image in a new window' copy the page link then start a new topic in the The Tavern or another board. Name the post 'Can you please tell me my code?', copy the link into the post and some kind Hunter will come in and post your code.

Q. I have a problem with MouseHunt displaying images, buttons missing, broken layout, no trap checks, a wonky horn, or something else. How can I fix it?

A. Before looking too deeply for answers to your problem to start with, first clear your browser cache. If this does not resolve the issues,

Q. I got my Master title a couple of hours ago and since then I have caught mice, sounded the horn, received the King's rewards. The graph shows as 0% completed. Are there a certain number of points you need to make the graph move? I know I have at least 3000.

A. Each level becomes harder than the last; your bar will begin to move eventually.

Q. So I've seen topics where people say they're 98.41% Apprentice or 57.29% Master. Where do you get the percentages from? I can only see the xx% in my little status thing?

A. If your MouseHunt account is connected via Facebook, MouseHunt may display "A Shrouded Figure" if you've changed your privacy settings or removed the application. If you haven't changed your privacy settings, check your MouseHunt profile again at a later time, the system may resolve the error automatically.

Q. Occasionally, I get a blue banner below 'Welcome to MouseHunt', saying "If this message remains onscreen, your JavaScript may be disabled - Try refreshing the page." How can I fix it?

A. Normally, only users with JavaScript disabled will see that message, but sometimes due to a slow connection speed you may see the message before it gets hidden away.
