Hop on Larry's Twin Temporal Turbine sleigh and help collect the missing items to get them all packaged back up and save the Great Winter Hunt celebration!

Overview

During the Great Winter Hunt 2016 Hunters must collect gifts from various zones and wrap gift orders. Once they have wrapped 10 gift orders Hunters will be able to Take Flight and hunt the Great Winter Impostor. Rewards are given to Hunters as they cross certain distance markers while flying.

Hunt with Standard Cheeses to collect Arctic Asiago. Hunt with Arctic Asiago or other Great Winter Hunt Cheese on the ground to attract mice that drop gifts, and in flight for the best chance of attracting the Great Winter Hunt Impostor.

HUD

The Heads-Up Display tracks the following items both on the ground and in flight:

  • On the left side, the inventory of these items is tracked:
  • On the right side:
  • Brake - Arms Festive Anchor Charms, reducing speed to 10 meters per hunt. Disabled during flight
  • Normal - Speed is 30 meters per hunt on the ground and 800 meters per hunt in flight
  • Boost - Consumes 1 Sleigh Nitro per hunt. Speed is 250 meters per hunt on the ground and 900 meters per hunt in flight
  • Turbo - Consumes 3 Sleigh Nitro per hunt. Speed is 500 meters per hunt on the ground and 1,000 meters per hunt in flight
  • Distance Flown - Shows the total distance traveled during all flights. Does not track distance traveled on the ground
  • Across the bottom, the inventory of these items is tracked:
  • ? - Selecting this opens a pop-up which reads:
All across Gnawnia, children have written the King with their holiday wishes!
The King has asked hunters to help fulfill their requests. Drive your sleigh across the ice and snow to gather special gift loot items and wrap them up for the good citizens of Gnawnia! Every time you wrap a gift, you'll power your sleigh with holiday cheer.
Once you have wrapped 10 gifts, your sleigh will be able take flight and earn festive rewards! The further you fly, the greater gifts you'll find.
Wrap gifts, spread joy and holiday cheer, and enjoy the winter wonderland during this Great Winter Hunt!
  • The pop-up shows the four rewards that can be earned and the distance required to earn them. Earned rewards can be claimed through the pop-up even while on the ground.

Clicking on the sleigh opens a pop-up which shows a minimum of 1,250 meters and a maximum of 1,750 meters of the Zones around the Hunter's location.

HUD - On the ground

  • Top: The current zone and distance remaining.
  • Middle: The Hunter's sleigh is shown, as well as 1,000 meters of the Zones around the Hunter's location. The current zone is highlighted.
  • Bottom: Open gift orders. Hunters will have 3 orders shown at a time. When an order can be wrapped, the wrap button will be highlighted.
  • Wrapping a gift order will increase the Gifts Wrapped counter by 1.
  • Wrapping the tenth gift order will allow the Hunter to take flight.
  • The open gift orders will be replaced by a notice that reads: Sleigh full! Time to... ...take flight!
  • Open orders are not lost but only hidden from view.
  • Bottom Right:
  • Gifts Wrapped counter that reads x/10. Wrapping gift orders advances the counter
  • Take Flight button: Highlighted when Hunters achieve 10 of 10 wrapped gift orders.
  • Selecting Take Flight will launch the Hunter's sleigh and allow the attraction of the Great Winter Hunt Impostor and earn rewards for passing specific distance markers.

HUD - In Flight

  • Top: Now exploring: Winter Wonderland - There are no zones while in flight.
  • Middle: The Hunter's sleigh is shown, as well as 1,000 meters of the Winter Wonderland around the Hunter's location.
  • Bottom: Rewards and the distance required to receive them. The distance will be replaced with a claim button once the reward is earned.
  • Bottom Right:
  • Hunts Remaining while in flight. Hunters start each flight with 20 hunts.
  • Capturing the Great Winter Hunt Impostor will reward 2 additional hunts without consuming a hunt
  • Capturing any other mouse will consume a hunt.
  • A Failure To Catch (FTC) will consume a hunt
  • A Failure to Attract (FTA) will have no effect on the hunt count.

Hunting On the Ground

While on the ground, Hunters can gather Arctic Asiago while hunting with Standard Cheese or SUPER|brie+. Hunters can use Arctic Asiago or other Great Winter Hunt Cheese to attract mice that drop various gifts. Gifts are collected to fill orders. Wrapping 10 orders will allow the Hunter to take flight and encounter the Great Winter Hunt Impostor and earn various rewards.

Zones

Mice vary by zone when hunting with Great Winter Hunt Cheeses.
Arctic Asiago provides a nearly perfect attraction rate and is required for attracting certain mice.
Each zone provides a different gift type.
Zones are a minimum of 250 meters in length, with longer zones being a multiple of 250 meters. There does not appear to be an upper limit to a zone's length, but zones over 1,250 meters are very rare.
Brake: Using any charm with Anchor in its name will slow the Hunter's sleigh to 10 meters per hunt.
Normal: Hunters travel 30 meters per hunt.
Boost: Using 1 Sleigh Nitro will increase the speed of the Hunter's sleigh to 250 meters per hunt.
Turbo: Using 3 Sleigh Nitro will increase the speed of the Hunter's sleigh to 500 meters per hunt.

  • Winter Wasteland
Mice found here rarely drop toys, so this is a good location to arm Standard Cheese or SUPER|brie+ and farm Arctic Asiago.
  • Decorative Oasis
Mice found here may drop the Simple Tree Ornament when hunting with Great Winter Hunt Cheese
  • Tinsel Forest
Mice found here may drop the Simple Tree Ornament and Deluxe Tree Ornament when hunting with Great Winter Hunt Cheese
  • Bunny Hills
Mice found here may drop the Simple Pair of Skis when hunting with Great Winter Hunt Cheese
  • Frosty Mountains
Mice found here may drop the Simple Pair of Skis and Deluxe Riding Sled when hunting with Great Winter Hunt Cheese
  • Toy Lot
Mice found here may drop the Simple Toy Top when hunting with Great Winter Hunt Cheese
  • Toy Emporium
Mice found here may drop the Simple Toy Top and Deluxe Toy Block when hunting with Great Winter Hunt Cheese
  • Snowball Storm
Mice found here may drop Throwable Snowballs when hunting with Great Winter Hunt Cheese

Collecting and Wrapping Gifts

As Hunters travel through the zones while hunting with Great Winter Hunt Cheese they will collect gifts.

Hunters will always have 3 orders open at a time, but never more than 2 orders requiring the same item.

Simple gift orders will require from 4 to 8 items to fill.
Deluxe gift orders will require from 3 to 4 items to fill.

Filling an order will advance the Gifts Wrapped counter and a new order will be randomly chosen to replace it. When 10 gift orders have been wrapped Hunters will be able to take flight. If Hunters choose not to take flight immediately, they can continue to hunt on the ground and collect gifts, but will be unable to fill any additional gift orders until they have taken flight and exhausted their hunts while in the air. Upon landing, Hunters will be returned to the same spot in the same zone and can resume collecting gifts and wrapping orders.

Taking Flight

Hunters must wrap 10 gift orders in order to be able to Take Flight

There is only a single zone called Winter Wonderland while in flight. Arctic Asiago provides the best attraction rate and the Great Winter Hunt Impostor is more difficult to attract when hunting with other Great Winter Hunt Cheese and exceptionally difficult to attract with Standard Cheese or SUPER|brie+. It is strongly recommended that Hunters do not take flight with fewer than 30 pieces of Arctic Asiago to hunt with.

Number of Hunts

Hunters start each flight with 20 available hunts. Hunters are returned to the ground when their hunts reach zero.

  • Capturing the Great Winter Hunt Impostor will reward 2 additional hunts without consuming a hunt
  • Capturing any other mouse will consume a hunt.
  • A Failure To Catch (FTC) will consume a hunt
  • A Failure to Attract (FTA) will have no effect on the hunt count and provides no progress.

Speed and Distance

The base speed while in flight is 800 meters per hunt.

  • Brake - Disabled during flight
  • Normal - Speed is 800 meters per hunt
  • Boost - Consumes 1 Sleigh Nitro per hunt. Speed is 900 meters per hunt
  • Turbo - Consumes 3 Sleigh Nitro per hunt. Speed is 1,000 meters per hunt

Rewards

Hunters earn rewards as they reach various distance markers. These rewards must be claimed through the HUD, they are not automatically added to the Hunter's inventory.

Distances from each flight are added to the distances achieved on all previous flights. It will take multiple flights to receive all four available rewards. Beginning at 130,000 meters Hunters will receive a Floating Reindeer Crate every 10,000 meters. These crates are automatically added to the Hunter's inventory.

Great Winter Hunt Mice

These are the Event mice that may be encountered during the annual Great Winter Hunt.

Charm Use

  • Winter and Festive Charms
Using any charm with the word Winter or Festive in its name will attract the Snowflake Mouse
  • Anchor Charms
Using any charm with Anchor in its name will slow the Hunter's sleigh to 10 meters per hunt while hunting on the ground.
WARNING #1: The area-specific effects of these charms have no effect in the event location. The use of a Golden Anchor Charm, Spiked Anchor Charm, or Ultimate Anchor Charm is not recommended.
WARNING #2: It is possible to arm the anchor charms during Flight but they will not slow the progress of the sleigh.
