King's Gauntlet

This many-storied tower is the King’s personal challenge to MouseHunters everywhere: anyone who can reach the top is among the kingdom’s elite. The King’s Gauntlet works on a tier system, with Hunters advancing to the next floor by hunting with cheese that they collect on the current floor. The Gauntlet is meant as a challenge for hunters of all skill levels, but in order to ascend to the very top, a Hero’s rank will come in handy.

Description and Requirements

King's Gauntlet is a location in the Valour region requiring a minimum rank of Initiate and the King's Gauntlet Floorplan to enter. Mice in this location may steal points, gold, or multiple pieces of cheese if not captured.

Hunting Strategy

In the King's Gauntlet, unlike in the Pagoda a hunter does not need to travel to change the mice they are attempting to catch. All a hunter must do is equip the appropriate cheese for the tier they wish to go after. The mice on each tier have a differing difficulty and different weaknesses, and the best hunting strategy may not always be clear. Progress to more difficult levels of the King's Gauntlet requires the use of special cheese, acquired through the use of potions dropped as loot in this location.

Because a high Luck trap increases the chance of mice dropping loot, such as the potions vital to progress through the King's Gauntlet, and because mice in early tiers are quite weak, hunters may wish to consider using a high-Luck setup.

Weaknesses & Cheese Usage

The Mice in the King's Gauntlet are organized into eight different levels or 'tiers'. All the mice in the area are in the Gauntlet Gladiators group, and each tier has a unique weakness and a unique cheese that must be used for a successful hunt. The stated weakness to a specific trap power type may not be the only power type that any tier of mice is vulnerable to.

Tier 1: All standard cheese types can be used in this location to catch Tier 1 mice. It is recommended that Hunters start out with either Marble or Swiss, and stay away from Brie unless they don't object to the net gold loss likely to result. While their exact weaknesses are not known, Tier 1 mice are very weak and most traps have no difficulty catching them.

Tier 2: Gauntlet Cheese Tier 2 must be used to catch Tier 2 mice, as no other cheese will attract them. Tier 2 mice are weak to physical traps, as well as stronger tactical traps.

Tier 3: Gauntlet Cheese Tier 3 must be used to catch Tier 3 mice, as no other cheese will attract them. Tier 3 mice are weak to tactical traps.

Tier 4: Gauntlet Cheese Tier 4 must be used to catch Tier 4 mice, as no other cheese will attract them. Tier 4 mice are weak to tactical traps.

Tier 5: Gauntlet Cheese Tier 5 must be used to catch Tier 5 mice, as no other cheese will attract them. Tier 5 mice are weak to shadow traps.

Tier 6: Gauntlet Cheese Tier 6 must be used to catch Tier 6 mice, as no other cheese will attract them. Tier 6 mice are weak to arcane traps.

Tier 7: Gauntlet Cheese Tier 7 must be used to catch Tier 7 mice, as no other cheese will attract them. Tier 7 mice are weak to hydro traps.

Tier 8: Gauntlet Cheese Tier 8 must be used to catch Tier 8 mice, as no other cheese will attract them. Tier 8 mice are weak to forgotten traps.

Hunting tips by Larry

Why hello, Mousehunter! It looks like we’ll be ascending the King’s Gauntlet together!

Hunters have flocked in from all over the land to face the terrors, the wonders, and the challenges of the King’s Gauntlet. If you can make it to the top of this tall, tall tower, you will gain lots of loot, and you will be able to count yourself among the land’s elite.

Every Hunter starts on floor one, using any bait they wish. From then on, Hunters progress to the next floor by using potions collected on the previous floor to make special cheeses. There is no need to travel-- just equip the right cheese to move to the next floor!

On each floor, the mice are weak to a different power type. If you get confused, the cheese descriptions may lend a hand. The further you go up the Gauntlet, the more difficult, and profitable, the mice become. Can you make it all the way to the top, and defeat the mysterious Eclipse Mouse?

Good luck, MouseHunter, and don’t get tired on the stairs!
