Articles needing attention lists the various articles around the MH Wiki that need significant contributions from other editors. This page aims to centralize all the tasks that need to be done so that it can more easily be spotted and picked up. Please refer to the respective talk pages for further discussion on the individual tasks in question.

Besides the articles listed here, many of the other pages can do with some improvements. Go ahead and make edits if you feel it will improve the look/layout/information flow etc of the page.

Pending Tasks

Anyone can add to this page if you spot something that needs improvement. The important thing to remember is to make the task description as clear as possible.

If you decide to work on an article, do add your name to the list so that any other editors who wish to help out know at a glance who is already working on it. If you consider a task completed, please move it to the next table.

Article Description of work that needs to be done Currently being worked on by
Papyrus Base - combined stats with all traps This base has been out since June - so the tables need to be updated. With the increasing numbers of traps and bases - do we want to continuing providing this?
  • I tried creating a template for the table in the combined trap statistics section so that you only need to type in the stats (power, power bonus, attraction bonus, luck and cheese effect) for the parameters and it would generate the entire table automatically. The template just needs to be updated when new trap/base(s) is/are released in the game, and all existing pages that are using it will be instantly changed. This would not only save time and effort quite significantly, it also ensures consistency in terms of calculation and formatting (not to mention the dreaded alternating colour formatting). However, I had little success in creating such a desirable template as the #expr function that is needed for calculation doesn't work on MHWiki, unlike the real wikipedia. What we need is for the devs/admins to install the ParserFunction extension into MHWiki, but sadly such a request has been ignored for close to two years. I really hope something can be done about this. — YiKai 21:12, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
Links on various pages This is very general work, basically involves adding relevant links to the pages in the wiki to aid navigation. Additionally, a short description of the link should also be included.
- Article has been outstanding for over 3 months now, some links still require a good description 15:53, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Mice Weaknesses All the mice need to have the main weaknesses listed.
  • Infobox listings are complete, done on 26 August 2010
  • Detailed information on the weaknesses needs to be included in the Hunting strategy section.
  • Example: Abominable Snow Mouse
Mouse Group / Power Type Would be nice to improve these articles. No specific ideas/suggestions at this time.

Images Needed

This section contains the list of images that need to be retrieved from the game and uploaded to sites such as photobucket or imageshack and linked back from the MH Wiki. Please note that the HitGrab developers have asked that we do not link directly to the game servers, so no direct links please.

Please update accordingly as needed. Status reflects the possibility that some images do not meet the standardized criteria, and thus need a replacement.

NOTE: Aksmet's photobucket account (to which a lot of images link to) is inactive.

MHWiki:Image Links A number of images are lacking full resolution pictures, especially for traps and mice images. It would be helpful to fill in the images as well as the updating the relevant wiki article. Victor.Song

Completed Tasks

Please move all completed jobs here for the record, most recent ones below.

Article Description of work that was done Work completed by
Trap Setup Options needs to be updated based on Mutated Venus Mouse Trap MVMT is better than VMT -Multiple locations updated. Ralphminer
Bait Preference Different cheeses attract mice at different rates depending on the location. In addition some mice have preference or dislike of cheeses. My plan is to confirm the information in the Wiki against the catch rate estimates. Ralphminer 18:30, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Scoreboard This page is currently tagged for deletion. The article can be further improved with an explanation of the various functions available in the scoreboard past and present, and thus taken off the deletion list. It will also need proper linking from other pages. Ralphminer
Brie Alchemy Potion Article needs revamp in a similar manner as Radioactive Blue Cheese Curd Potion User:Mikeyco
Revamp of the various location pages Currently they are somewhat disorganized. Work needs to be done to get them back in line with each other, along with the creation of a common template for locations that should be followed for additional locations. User:Mikeyco
Navbox for the Editor's Corner Need a Navbox similar to Template:Location for the articles in the Editor's Corner User:Mikeyco
Starting out Needs further explanation, including updating of information based on the new newbie introduction process involving a knight called Larry? User:Mikeyco
Larry This article needs expansion. User:Mikeyco
Mouse Pages The individual Mouse pages need to be standardized according to MHWiki:Manual of Style. User:Mikeyco
Cheat Sheet Put locations in order encountered User:Jimmy
Luck This article needs improvement in light of recent information revealed by Dave in the video. See Talk page. User:Camomiletea
Weapons & Bases Articles The individual weapon and base pages need to be standardized according to MHWiki:Manual of Style. User:Mikeyco
Hunting Sequence Hunting Sequence currently makes no mention of the situation in which the baited cheese fails to attract a mouse. This section will need to mention the possibility of cheese going stale, depending on the Cheese Effect of traps. User:Mikeyco
FAQ FAQ needs fact checking and linking, as well as general cleanup and addition of further questions. It must be noted that almost none of the questions and answers were created by the Developers. Various Editors
Unchristened Ship Needs in-game description from someone who crafted it. An image from the Crafting inventory would be a plus. User:Artyom
Cheat Sheet Major updates needed
  • New crafted weapons should be added into the Weapons table -- Complete Camomiletea 20:31, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
  • New Tribal Isles mice need to be added, probably using the vertical format for the columns -- Complete Camomiletea 19:16, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Camomiletea
Cheat Sheet mice section With the addition of more mice, the mice list is now long enough to warrant additional location segments such that no mouse is without the location header either above or below. Please keep reorganization along alphabetical lines. User:Camomiletea
Various tournament related articles The following articles need to be expanded: Party Horn, Hunting Party (fix POV), and Tournaments (which will include info about Party Points and the multiplier) Stinson
Ancient The page was clearly not written by a native speaker of English. Nothing wrong with that, but it really needs cleanup.
- Redirected to Ancient (disambiguation)
User:Brossow
Arcane Was split into Arcane and Forgotten, in view of coming new Forgotten-type traps. However, work on this project is not done until Forgotten traps are crafted and tested against mice of each power type to determine their effectiveness.
- Issue resolved. Pages now redirect to Power Type
Dreamwalker
Effectiveness The Tribal Isles mice need to be added. Pus
Various location articles The location articles such as Mountain, Laboratory, Dojo etc, all require a good expansion of the Hunting Strategy sections with information on the cheese strategy for that location. For example in the Mountain, players using Swiss will earn more than those using Brie, but those using Brie have a slightly better chance to catch the Ninja with the Map Piece with the higher attraction rate. User:Grexx, User:Ralphminer
Effectiveness Effectiveness table now includes too many locations and mice to be of much use to most players. Work required is to split the global effectiveness table into regional tables. More information can be found under here. Detailed information on how to proceed with the changes has also been listed clearly. Various Editors
Organization of Loot The Loot page needs checking on the individual Loot articles to see if unimportant Loot with just 1 or 2 lines of description are redirected back to the main article and cleared of their contents. Watch out for loss of information, such as Trivia etc. If in doubt, discuss on the talk page. - Mostly resolved by the merging of stubs into major articles. Various Editors
Blueprints The article is a little mixed up with player descriptions appended onto the actual in-game descriptions. It would be helpful to use a visual separator, mainly to put the in-game descriptions into italics, and to shift player descriptions below that. See Talk:Blueprints#In-game descriptions. -- Grexx 17:42, 13 January 2010 (UTC) Niehusa, _m.
Birthday (disambiguation) We need a page listing all the articles with Birthday in their names, similar to Ancient (disambiguation).
  • I created the Birthday (disambiguation) page, changed "Birthday" to redirect to "Birthday (disambiguation)" instead of "Birthday Mouse," and adjusted all the page links to "Birthday" that were intended to link "Birthday Mouse." Could someone verify that this task is complete? --Dreamwalker 18:50, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Travel Costs When MouseHunt updated to Version 3.0, the costs of travel changed
Crafting Items#Novelty Items These Novelty Items (along with related images and the intro section) should be moved to a separate page (they are no longer selectable as crafting ingredients). camomiletea
Individual Weapon and Base articles Currently, there's a lot of ranking of a trap as compared with other traps of similar power type or ability being stated in the article introduction. This is unnecessary as this information is already clearly presented in the Traps article as Bases and Weapons, and adds extra work in maintaining accuracy on a frequently changing aspect of the game. Additionally, in general it is quite clear which trap is better than which due to the differences, other than the few traps that have a replaceable twin. Thus the work required is removal of the parts that do attempt to rank traps. Discussion here: Talk:Traps#Trap_Ranking
  • Weapons are completed now. Bases still need to be reviewed. -- Camomiletea 20:27, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
  • Bases are completed now. Removed references to LE bases in standard bases and made language more neutral. -- Ralphminer 17:56, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

rarely encountered vs infrequently encountered There's a little confusion with rarity at the moment due to the introduction of Rare Breeds categorization by the developers. Previously, the word 'rare' wasn't a word used officially in-game, while on the MH Wiki, as Paul mentioned, it referred to the rarity of mice to a specific location. The text might be changed from 'rarely encountered' to 'infrequently encountered' to avoid further confusion. Or maybe we'll just explain the % attraction rate. -Fuqi Koh
  • Please include BOTH 'infrequently encountered' and explain the % attraction rate on the appropriate pages. -Kathy Hitzfelder
  • Abominable Snow & Bat Mice are not rare mice at all, but are obviously listed as rare (in the respective locations I posted above) because they meet the <~1% criteria. I did not know what the criteria was. -Trevor Hastings
  • The yellow highlight for rare mice we've set as having a criteria of less than 1% of the population, it takes a while to know if this is the case with certain mice, so it's often not updated for a bit. -Paul Humphreys
    • Done with main locations - not sure what to do with Festive Comet and the Heart of the Tiger party which are currently highlighting rare breeds. -- Ralphminer 15:41, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Re-classifying All Mice When MouseHunt updated to Version 3.0, mice no longer had power types. Instead, they have been grouped under new group names with mice of similar locations and weaknesses. To reflect this, we should remove power types from all mice pages and replace them with whatever mouse groups the mice belong to. On the page for each group of mice (or perhaps one page on which they are all listed.. not sure yet), we can list the weaknesses of that group. This will be a huge task and could thus be worked on by multiple people so long as they know what each other is doing.
  • I've updated all the mice articles to the new template format (which shows "Mouse Group" instead of "Power Type"). A "Mouse Group" article is still needed - or, if you prefer, an article for each different mouse group is needed. But I prefer the "Mouse Group" article, which could be patterned after the current "Power Type" article (which should also be modified soon). So if someone wants to work on any of that, go for it. Right now, I'm going to change the category descriptions for all these new categories to mirror the former category descriptions for Arcane Mice, Forgotten Mice, and so on - and then delete those old categories. --Dreamwalker 13:06, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
  • I think I'm done adjusting the mouse category descriptions. I'm taking a break right now before I write the first draft of the Mouse Group article and update the Power Type article. --Dreamwalker 13:42, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
  • I've done all the work I can do on this task, but someone still needs to revise the Power Type article (along with the new Mouse Group article) before this task can be considered complete. --Dreamwalker 15:53, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Various With new content, a few disambiguations and/or related links might be useful. Such as Knight the Hunter's Title vs. Knight Mouse. There's a Ghost and a Sock Puppet Ghost, Samurai and Clockwork Samurai, two Mage mice (Black and White). There are mice such as Toy Sylvan (related to Sylvan), and Wound Up White (related to White). Burglar and Master Burglar. All the various Lich mice...
All Potion articles With the recent update, it appears that the conversion rate for many of the potions has been changed. The quantity of cheese converted and the amount of gold used needs to be checked for each Hunter's Rank and updated as appropriate. I've already updated the conversion rates of the potions in my inventory for the Lord/Lady rank, but there's still a lot of work to be done. MearsMan
Cheese Preferences Like some mice are only attracted to a specific cheese, like the JoD mice. However, the wiki says "Magma Carrier mice have been found to be especially attracted to Spicy Havarti cheese." This isn't true because that's the ONLY cheese it is attracted to. It should be like the Acolyte and Dragon "Magma Carrier mice have been found to be especially attracted to Spicy Havarti cheese, to the point that any other kind of cheese will simply not suffice.

Others include Lich, Draconic Warden, Whelpling, Masters, and maybe Monster Mouse as well.

Although we take it for granted and that's is common sense that they are only attracted by the cheese, I think it could have been more clearer. -Alex Hung Request from the Forums sound like a good idea -- Ralphminer 12:01, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Mice Mice that list "Gnawnia" (not "Town of Gnawnia") as location need to be double-checked for existence in Windmill since that's a new location in Gnawnia. If they don't exist in Windmill, "Gnawnia" should be replaced with the list of all the old Gnawnia locations prior to Windmilll. Additionally, other mice locations need to be verified: in particular, Pirate (not in TG), Black Widow, Nibbler, mice in Lagoon. User:Camomiletea
Crafting Items Some items, most notably the blueprints are missing from this article, and need to be added in. ericb
Tower Amplifier Tower Amplifier needs to be relocated into a separate page. See Talk:Seasonal_Garden for details. ericb
Christmas Collectibles See Talk:Crafting_Items - the 12 items forming Christmas Cracker Trap are now collectibles, not crafting items, and need to be relocated in the wiki. Meanwhile, see User:Twentypence/Collectibles for a first cut at a reorganization of the Collectibles page. ericb
Special Inventory Create a central jump-off point for all convertible inventory. ericb
Cheese Preferences When a mouse is especially attracted, but other cheese work - need to standardize language. Also need to clarify what is meant by no preference, e.g. (from the forums) "No preference means that no special cheese is required for it, or that no cheese biases the population towards it - NOT that any cheese can catch it." So we have three levels here: 1) a particular cheese is required, no other will do, 2) a particular cheese increases the likelihood of encounter, but others may work, or 3) neither. Various Editors
Lagoon
Pinnacle Chamber
Location Quick Reference
Hunting Strategy section needs to be updated for the Pinnacle Chamber and Lagoon, incorporating the new content (which is a permanent addition). Location Quick Reference also needs an update of the new tasks to do.
  • Looks like Location Quick Reference was updated. However, Lagoon, Pinnacle Chamber still have no mention of Silth/Sensei in the Hunting Strategy.
  • Furthermore, Hunting strategy in all locations needs to be checked, since in v3 mice have no power types, only mouse groups, and some of those say "tactical mice" etc. when there is no such group anymore.
