Light your Lunar Lantern to celebrate the Year of the Ox

Year of the Ox

Celebrate the Year of the Ox with lanterns, luck, and loot! The costumed mice have returned to Gnawnia for the festivities and are celebrating in twelve specific locations throughout the land. This year they are accompanied by the Costumed Ox Mouse who carries the mighty Ox Lunar Lantern with him.

Capture all the costumed mice, collect Lunar Lantern Candles, and retrieve the Ox Lantern so that you can start your own celebration by earning double or triple loot anywhere in the Kingdom!

How to Celebrate

Stockpile Locations The first step on your journey will be to travel to any one of these stockpile locations.

Town of Gnawnia Laboratory Great Gnarled Tree Dojo S.S. Huntington IV Claw Shot City Muridae Market Gnawnia Rift Fungal Cavern Moussu Picchu Queso River Floating Islands (LP) You can find them listed in the Lunar New Year Heads-Up Display along with a convenient travel button to take you there immediately.

Gather Dumpling Cheese Once you're in a stockpile location, you can gather Dumpling Cheese by just hunting the regular mice in the area with standard cheese.


Catch all the Costumed Mice Use your Dumpling Cheese to attract a whole slew of Lunar New Year mice, including the infamous costumed mice. These elusive critters will need to be caught in a specific order so once you catch the Costumed Tiger Mouse then you'll be able to attract the Costumed Rabbit Mouse and so on. The final mouse will be the new Costumed Ox Mouse and upon catching this elderly fellow, you'll be rewarded with his Ox Lunar Lantern.


Light the Lantern and Gain Rewards While hunting with Dumpling Cheese, you'll have undoubtedly picked up quite a few Lunar Lantern Candles by this point. And if you were hunting with the premium Nian Gao'da cheese then you've also likely found some Red Lunar Lantern Candles. Well, now it's time to use them! Once you own the Ox Lunar Lantern, you can begin lighting these candles and reaping their rewards!
