Welcome to the MouseHunt Wiki, where users contribute their knowledge of the MouseHunt world for the benefit of the community.

MouseHunt is a popular game in which players, referred to as hunters, catch mice with a variety of traps and cheeses in order to earn experience points and virtual gold through passive gameplay. From time to time the developers add new locations and mice as well as sponsor thousands of dollars for periodic giveaways and tournaments. MouseHunt was developed by HitGrab Inc. as a Facebook application and released to a small group for beta testing in early 2008. On 7 March 2008, MouseHunt was officially released to the general public. Just nine months later, MouseHunt earned its creators a $250,000 development grant from Facebook and the game continues to grow in popularity.

This wiki exists to inform and to educate the community of MouseHunters and those who have an interest in the MouseHunt world and its intricacies.

Year of the Rat

14 January 2020

Light your lantern for double or TRIPLE loot!

Lunar Rat Lantern

Celebrate the Year of the Rat by hunting the new Costumed Rat Mouse and obtaining the magical Rat Lunar Lantern! Once you've obtained the lantern, you'll be able to light Lunar Lantern Candles to double loot drops ANYWHERE in the Kingdom, or better yet, burn Red Lunar Lantern Candles to earn TRIPLE loot drops!

To get started, head to one of twelve "stockpile" locations throughout the Kingdom where you can collect Dumpling Cheese and attract Costumed Zodiac mice. Once you've captured 10 unique costumed mice, you'll be able to encounter the Costumed Rat Mouse which drops the Rat Lunar Lantern. Then, keep hunting with Dumpling Cheese to collect candles and take your loot collecting to new heights!

  • 100 Nian Gao'da Cheese
Find Red Candles!
  • 30 Red Lunar Lantern Candles
Triple loot drops!

Other Benefits of the Rat Lunar Lantern

Each candle you burn will raise your lantern into the sky earning you bonus luck and other rewards! Burning a regular Lunar Lantern Candle will raise your lantern by 1 foot while burning a Red Lunar Lantern Candle will raise your lantern by 2 feet. Every ten feet your lantern ascends will earn you +1 Trap Luck which is active while your lantern is lit until the end of the event. Additionally, at some heights you'll also earn unique item rewards!

Your lantern can reach a maximum height of 500 feet which provides an impressive +50 Luck while burning any type of candle!

Head to the Camp section to view your lantern track progress and claim rewards as you reach their height requirements. Make sure to check the App Store or Google Play to ensure your mobile app is up to date to celebrate all the Year of the Rat has to offer!

  • Slippery Rat Slide Trap Skin

  • Year of the Rat Journal Theme
