Using a Radioactive Blue Cheese Potion, Greater Radioactive Blue Potion, or Corrupted Radioactive Blue Potion converts either Brie or SUPER|brie+ cheese into Radioactive Blue cheese. Radioactive Blue cheese is virtually a requirement for hunting successfully in the Mousoleum and the Catacombs, although Ancient cheese has been discovered to also work well in the Catacombs.

Conversion Charts

The hunter's title, the particular potion, and the type of cheese used in the conversion all determine the amount of Radioactive Blue cheese generated and the gold required (if any) per piece as listed in the tables below. Using a Radioactive Blue Cheese Curd Potion for example, Masters will be able to convert 30 SUPER|brie+ cheese into 30 Radioactive Blue cheese at no additional cost. Alternatively, they can convert 10 Brie cheese at 300 gold per piece into 10 Radioactive Blue cheese for a total cost of 3,000 gold.

Radioactive Blue Cheese Potions are dropped by these mice in the Laboratory:
   – uncommonly by Bionic mice.
   – uncommonly by Granite mice.
   – uncommonly by Steel mice.

Note: During Ronza's visit in October 2009 it was possible for hunters of all ranks to obtain this potion even outside the Burroughs region through Ronza's Satchel of Surprise.

Suggested Strategies

Brie or SUPER|brie+

Due to the nature of SUPER|brie+ and Radioactive Blue cheese, it is not possible to accurately say which method is the most cost-effective. The opportunity cost of finding far fewer potions makes SUPER|brie+ the better investment for many people despite the relatively high market cost. However, the "best choice" is ultimately determined by each hunter's personal preference and priorities.

How many to convert

For players who choose to convert Brie into Radioactive Blue cheese, a suggested strategy is not converting your potions all at once.

  1. Converting all potions at once requires more gold upfront. Converting just enough for the current hunting period allows a hunter to bring more Brie and thus be able to stay longer in the location without having a large gold reserve.
  2. The mice in the Mousoleum and Catacombs typically have higher gold and points rewards as compared to other mice. Players thus progress to the next rank faster than they would in most other areas. Doing conversions after gaining a rank results in a better conversion rate per potion.

Similarly, players using SUPER|brie+ will also benefit from a better conversion rate by planning ahead and converting only after gaining a rank.

Insufficient Cheese for Conversion

Hunters are cautioned that they will be able to carry out a conversion even if they do not have enough cheese to fully utilize the potion.

Using a Radioactive Blue Cheese Potion for example, if a Grandmaster only has 15 SUPER|brie+ on hand, he will be able to convert that 15 SUPER|brie+ into 15 Radioactive Blue cheese. However this results in a loss of 20 potential Radioactive Blue cheese (from a maximum possible of 35), and is a waste considering the difficulty in obtaining potions. Thus converting potions when short of Brie or SUPER|brie+ is not recommended.

History and Trivia

  • The Radioactive Blue Cheese Potion was originally named the Radioactive Blue Cheese Curd Potion. Similarly, the Greater Radioactive Blue Potion was originally named the Greater Radioactive Blue Cheese Curd Potion. These names were changed with the release of MouseHunt Version 3.0.
