These specialty charms are highly sought after in the Haunted Terrortories! They prove irresistible to two specific mice, the beloved Shortcut Mouse and the dreaded Grey Recluse mouse. Catching either of these mice change your progress through the Haunted Terrortories.

Capturing the Shortcut mouse will let you in on the closest secret shortcut, advancing you three spaces forward while traversing the Haunted Terrortories..

However catching the Grey Recluse leaves your trap in a sticky situation, pulling you back one spot leaving you busy to clean up the mess.

What's a little risk and reward?

Obtained Via

The Shortcut Charm is dropped as loot by the Tricky Witch Mouse.

Location-Specific Effects

  • Catching a Shortcut Mouse generally moves the Hunter ahead up to 3 spaces.
It also leaves an extra message in the Hunter's Journal, similar to:
Yes! Catching a Shortcut Mouse leapt me 3 spaces ahead in the Corn Maze!
If there are not three spaces left before the end of the current region (excluding the slot for the Trick or Treat mouse), the message changes:
Catching a Shortcut Mouse leapt me ahead in the Haunted Manor!
Unfortunately, I couldn't travel the full distance as I didn't have three open spaces ahead of me.
It also leaves an extra message in the Hunter's Journal, similar to:
Shoot! Catching a Grey Recluse Mouse knocked me back 1 space in the Corn Maze...
If the hunter has not used the current cheese in the current region, no progress is lost and the message has an additional line:
Thankfully, I had only just entered the Corn Maze, so I couldn't be pushed back any further!
  • The Shortcut Charm does not alter population, and is not consumed if hunting with non-event cheeses. When that is attempted, a message appears in the Hunter's Journal:
I tried to hunt with a Shortcut charm, but forgot to arm Trick Cheese or Treat Cheese! I should really arm one of those cheeses so I can continue my progress!
