Revision as of 15:18, 13 December 2013

During the Great Winter Hunt 2013, hunters built a Snow Fort to defend the kingdom against the Frozen Horde (mice attracted to Snowball Bocconcini), by using Snow Blocks obtained as loot during the snowball fight. The fort is built in stages by clicking on the Build button of the Heads-up Display at the Festive Snow Fort.

On the right side of the HUD, the hunter sees a current inventory count of Snow Blocks (with the hint "Build your Snow Fort with these frosty building blocks!"), Bocconcini (with the hint "Snowball Bocconcini is the only cheese that can summon the Frozen Horde"), Ice Coins (with the hint "Spend Ice Coins in the various shoppes at the Festive Snow Fort for special items!"), and a Build button (with the hint "When you're ready, choose a fort upgrade from the Build Menu!").

Along the bottom of the Heads-up Display is a progress meter through each round of the snowball fight. Hunters catch 14 mice, then Snow Boulder, then 14 more mice, then Reinbo, then 19 more mice, then Snow Sorceress, then 20 more mice, then S.N.O.W. Golem, for 71 hunts each cycle. Hovering over each section of the meter gives hints such as "The Snow Boulder has been defeated!", "Catch X more Frozen Horde mice to challenge Reinbo!", "Time to face Reinbo", or "The Snow Sorceress is waiting", according to progress.

Along the way through the cycle, additional messages are placed in the Hunter's Journal:

15th hunt:

I have defeated the first of the snowball bullies, the Snow Boulder Mouse. He wasn't so tough!

30th hunt:

With Reinbo safely apprehended and thrown into the snow brig, it's time to hunt down the Snow Sorceress before she freezes everything over!

50th hunt:

With the Snow Sorceress defeated and my fort once again safe, it's time to defend against the enormous S.N.O.W. Golem Mouse and win this fight!

71st hunt:

Upon defeating the montrous S.N.O.W. Golem Mouse, the Frozen Horde scattered and we celebrated in the Snow Fort!
The day is once again safe! That is... until the next army of snow mice marches upon my fort! Time to prepare for another massive snowball fight!
I should take on the mice again and collect more Snow Blocks to make my Snow Fort even more EPIC!

The display also gives hints on what needs to be done; if the hunter is not using Snowball Bocconcini, then the hint includes:

Arm Snowball Bocconcini to atract the Frozen Horde and battle through the snowball fight!

If the hunter has enough Snow Blocks but has not yet built a fort, the display hint includes:

You'll need to build a Snow Fort to take on the S.N.O.W. Golem Mouse!

Snow Fort

The initial fort has the following description:

You'll need a basic fort to stand a chance against the S.N.O.W. Golem Mouse, a chilling automaton of ice and snow! Once you've built your Snow Fort, you can upgrade it with expansions to give bonuses to your trap, your rewards, and your friends!

It is built for a cost of 80 blocks, and the following message appears in the Hunter's Journal:

I used 80 Snow Blocks to build a mighty Snow Fort!
This mighty fortress of ice and snow will certainly attract the attention of the S.N.O.W. Golem Mouse, so I'd better armour up and keep upgrading my fort!!

In order to attract the first S.N.O.W. Golem, a hunter must complete 70 hunts with Snowball Bocconcini and construct the basic fort (either action can be completed first, but both must be completed before encountering the boss). If the fort is not constructed, attempting to hunt with Snowball Bocconcini will instead attract a different mouse and leave this message in the journal:

The S.N.O.W. Golem Mouse has shown his face, but I cannot defeat him without a Snow Fort.
As soon as I have enough Snow Blocks, I must BUILD my Snow Fort if I want to stand a chance against this snowy monster!

Snow Fort Upgrades

After the fort is started, there are four groups of upgrades, each with three levels: Snow Cannon, Ice Armoury, Winter Walls, and Festive Tavern. Upgrades can be done in any order; the Level 1 upgrade costs 75 Ice Blocks per group, while Level 2 and Level 3 each require 50 Ice Blocks. Building the complete Snow Fort requires all 12 upgrades, for a total of 780 Ice Blocks, at which point a limited edition Snow Fort Snowglobe is awarded and the Snowball Journal Theme is unlocked for purchase.

Each upgrade earns the hunter 2 or 3 Ice Coins, and leaves a message in the Hunter's Journal.
