Hunting Strategy
Before you reach the rank of Grandmaster and are able to buy splintered wood from the general store at the Training Grounds you can hunt for Dwarf mouse an the Mountain or for the Treant in the Calm Clearing. Hunters are more likely to encounter a Dwarf mouse at the Mountain than a Treant mouse in the Calm Clearing. However Treant mice may drop up to 10 pieces of Splintered Wood at a time. Since Luck has a small effect on the chance of loot being dropped, you will want to combine a weapon and base that provides both power and luck and bait with a cheese that will attract the most mice. The Trap Setup Options for the Mountain and Trap Setup Options for the Calm Clearing describe some of the options for hunters looking for Splintered Wood.
