Since it always costs nothing to go back to Gnawnia town, one should never pay more than the Gnawnia traveling cost. Thus, (based on these figures) anyone who goes from Digby town to the Meadow, the Laboratory to the Harbor, or almost anywhere to the Mountain is either ill-informed or dumb.

I don't get this comment. Whilst it is true that it costs nothing to go from anywhere to the gnawnia, it is not true that to go to gnawnia then on to any destination is cheaper. Case in point the example used above laboratory to harbour direct costs 1161 where as to go from the lab to gnawnia then on to the harbour cost 1448, that is 287 gold cheaper to go directly there.

I mean the reason I put this chart togeather is so people could work these things out and find the cheapest route from where they are to where they are headed, I think it ill informed to assume that the gnawnia travel cost is the only one that you should consider.

*The best, and currently only way I can see to save money (now that Ronza is gone) is in the specific case if you are traveling to the Mountain.  It is usually cheaper to go to town first, then on to the mountain. --[[User:Sokolok|Sokolok]] 13:55, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

  • Burroughs costs (columns 6 to 9)
  • Furoma costs (columns 10 to 13)
  • Bristle Woods costs (columns 14 to 16)

Larry's Travel

It would be good to mention how many times (unlimited?) that the travel can be used per day. Also, traveling to Town of Gnawnia using normal travel is not free, so should be advised against, but I haven't had the chance to confirm this. -- Grexx 09:26, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

I've not tried finding out the limit to Larry's Travel. However, Larry's Travel may lead to other locations, so as quoted from the first news post:
There is also a Larry's Travel section on the travel page to take you to locations free of cost! Currently it takes you to the Town of Gnawnia for free!
Keywords being locations and currently which suggests, it may lead elsewhere in the future. Draobyek 11:03, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Another strategy that might be listed is that if you want to travel somewhere that's closer to Town of Gnawnia, don't take the direct route, but travel using Larry's Travel to ToG and then it's cheaper to go to your desired location. -- camomiletea 16:11, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Would it be worth making a notation on all direct travel costs that are more expensive than the counterpart of using Larry's travel first? I'm thinking of shading those cells, so that there is a quick visual distinction of whether a direct price is also the cheapest. For example,
Departure
Meadow Town of Gnawnia Windmill
Meadow 10 260
Town of Gnawnia 10 250
Windmill 260 250
What do you think? -- ericb talkcontr 12:04, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
I like this idea, although not that particular color, hehe. -- camomiletea 12:40, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Good idea, but depending on how the travel costs turn out, it might be a better idea to shade travel spots where direct travel is less expensive.
You'll also need to consider if it'll make the travel chart difficult to read, since it might end up being a checkered pattern giving half the people reading it sore eyes :D Consider also whether to continue using the alternate line shading. -- Grexx 13:58, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
I'm currently thinking that color-only is bad for blind readers. And you are right that there are probably fewer cheapest direct routes in comparison to routes where Larry's travel makes sense. So I'm instead going with a '*' mark on cheapest routes; see the start of my efforts: User:Ericb/Sandbox -- ericb talkcontr 16:51, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
