Atop the tall tower, in the midst of an isle of madness, sits the maddest mouse of them all: the Chess Master. The Seasonal Garden and the Tower answer to his whims, changing with his mercurial moods. Behind his glowing white eyes lies the mind which produced the rage of the Technic King, and the cold brutality of the Mystic Queen. Preferred Cheese
The Chess Master is only attracted to Checkmate Cheese.
Hunting Strategy
The Chess Master can be attracted using Checkmate Cheese once the Hunter catches either a Mystic King or a Technic King and stays in the tower (by either using Checkmate Cheese or Stalemate Charm).
Tactical traps are very effective against the Chess Master, while all others are ineffective.
Catching the Chess Master will cause the Hunter to be moved to the Seasonal Garden unless Stalemate Charm is also armed. If the Hunter manages to stay in Zugzwang's Tower after catching the Chess Master (by using Stalemate Charm), they can attempt to catch more mice, including the Chess Master itself.
Catching a Chess Master with a Uncharged Scholar Charm armed will add a Scholar Charm to the Hunter's inventory. This charm can be used to attract Zurreal the Eternal in Crystal Library.
