Special Event Mice are mice that can only be found and caught during certain periods:

Birthday Mouse – released in 2009 for MouseHunt's first birthday
Cupid Mouse – released for the Valentine's Giveaway in 2008
Elf Mouse – released for the Christmas Season in 2008
Glitchpaw Mouse – released for April Fool's Day in 2009
Hollowhead Mouse – released for the Haunted Giveaway around Halloween in 2008
