The veil has lifted on the Folklore Forest!

Excavation is Complete

The King's excavation team has finally finished securing the hidden subterranean underpass making it permanently safe for human exploration! At the furthest North end of the tunnel, just beneath the mountain range, the excavation team stopped when they discovered something that they did not expect: an immensely powerful, magical protective barrier. The barrier (or "veil" as some of them described it) looked almost like a mirror but with a strange and compelling reflection that defied explanation.

The Cartographer's Theory

Word of this protective veil spread quickly throughout the Kingdom and it caught the attention of the Floating Islands Cartographer who has recently been all-consumed by studying their profound new discovery: the Legendary Looking Glass. The description of the veil seemed uncannily similar to the inscription on the back of the looking glass' Antique Frame. The Cartographer was convinced that what the excavators discovered beneath the mountain must be the specific spot in Gnawnia referenced in that description: "where the veil between perception and imagination is very thin".

Upon sharing this revelation with the King, the King decided to test this bold and exciting theory by sending his most trusted subject: Larry, the Friendly Knight! The brave and noble Larry took the Legendary Looking Glass to this thin spot, opened his mind, and looked deeply into it and suddenly found himself on the other side of the reflection and inside the mythical Folklore Forest! What he discovered while there however, turned out to be very concerning...

Larry's Terrifying Discovery

Upon entering the Folklore Forest, Larry discovered very quickly that someone... or something had beat him to it! According to legend, the veil was supposed to have protected this land from the mouse invasion that has gripped all the other regions of Gnawnia. But to his dismay, this mystical land has now been overrun as well!

One extraordinarily powerful mouse discovered the way through the veil and has let in a number of nasty and destructive mice along with him! Larry learned that this mysterious mouse, known as the Mythweaver, has devised a plan that threatens the very history of the Kingdom of Gnawnia!

The Book of Lore

The Folklore Forest is home to one of the most powerful and influential objects in existence: the Book of Lore. The enchanted pages within this book contain the entire history of Gnawnia since the dawn of time but unlike a traditional history book, if the words on these pages were to be changed then history itself will change with them!

The devious and dangerously clever Mythweaver learned of this powerful exploit and has made it his mission to rewrite history so that the mice become the celebrated heroes and the humans become the vanquished foes!

A Call to Arms

With all of history at stake, the King is calling upon the hunters of Gnawnia who are ranked Archduke/Archduchess and above to go forth into the Folklore Forest and stop the Mythweaver before it's too late!

The Folklore Forest region consists of three new locations each with their own resources, upgrades, and gameplay mechanics. Gather resources from the Foreword Farm and Prologue Pond before heading to the Table of Contents and facing off against the Mythweaver and his fellow authors!

Tend your fields in the Foreword Farm! Live off the land in the Foreword Farm by growing and harvesting the powerful new crop known as Parable Papyrus!

Go fishing in the Prologue Pond! Push off from shore, cast your line, and go fishing for Inspiration Ink!

Write your masterpiece in the Table of Contents! Write the longest books you can to restore history and outwrite the Mythweaver!
