At the furthest North end of the tunnel, just beneath the mountain range, the excavation team stopped when they discovered something that they did not expect: an immensely powerful, magical protective barrier. The barrier (or "veil" as some of them described it) looked almost like a mirror but with a strange and compelling reflection that defied explanation.
