* Keep dates in DD Month YYYY format; this is an internationally recognized date format.

* The MHdomain / MHP / Date templates should be followed for consistency.

Due to popular demand via the suggestions forum we have added paging controls to hunters' cork boards. You'll now be able to view up to 100 cork board posts, with 10 per page. We also fixed a few other minor bugs such as backslashes showing up in posts.

+
* In the template below, anything in UPPERCAPS should be replaced.

The proprietor of the Harbour General Store has also just received a huge shipment of strange blueprints. Skilled crafters will be able to create a rather strange base using these plans. Journeyman crafters be warned: you may destroy your crafting materials should you attempt to create this base!

A few other minor tweaks you may notice is the "Accuracy Bonus" stat, which has been changed to "Attraction Bonus", as well as the Cheese Effect wording, which has been changed to use the terms 'stale' and 'fresh' to hopefully relieve some confusion amongst new players.

Finally we'll mention that we have been working on a statistics utility to compare original MouseHunt catch stats to MouseHunt 2.0, and repair missing catches. This is not a small job and our team has been working hard on this utility.

=== Cork Board and Travel Cost Update ===

''2 December 2008''

Many players have requested a way to send their friends MouseHunt related messages and so we have added the "Hunter's Cork Board" to profile pages. When viewing the Hunter's Profile of a friend you'll have a text box where you can post comments. We are also planning on adding a preference page where players can control exactly what groups of people are allowed to post on or view their cork board. This preference page is also where we plan to add other various options such as who can send you trade requests, view when you were last active, your quantity of SUPER|brie+ and various other preferences in the game.

Travel costs have also been completely overhauled to increase the emphasis on distance rather than a specific cost for each location. What this means is that many locations will be much cheaper to travel to (especially the Laboratory) depending on where you are traveling from. Players hunting in the Furoma region will also benefit from having very low travel costs when simply moving from floor to floor in the Pagoda. As always your comments and feedback are welcome via the suggestions forum. Based on feedback we may further tweak travel costs.

Also in this update are various minor tweaks and changes such as the appearance of the Hunter's Journal and layout of profile pages. We have also yet again tweaked some of the fonts used in the King's Rewards to help readability. We have also further increased the size of the rewards based on hunter's title. We are also working on one or two completely different styles of rewards such as 'What number is in the triangle?' which should be easier to decipher.

=== Discovering Crafting Combinations ===

''28 November 2008''

We wanted to make a news post to let players know that we have something planned for helping figure out what combinations of ingredients will successfully craft an item. Although I won't go into specifics, it will involve mice dropping pages that will contain clues or even an exact formula.

+

Right now there is somewhat of a limited number of actual items that can be crafted, however we will be adding plenty more over time. At the moment there are five combinations that work, four of which have ingredients that can only be obtained as loot from a catch.

We have also been paying close attention to the ideas and suggestions coming in on the boards and will be working on adding a few of them in the future! Keep them coming!

Today we have launched the large update to the Furoma Region which includes four new hunting areas, over a dozen new items, two new kinds of shops, a new trap, and a whole new group of mice!

+

Most of these new areas are unlocked by using a new type of store called the Cartographer. At this store players will be able to hire a skilled cartographer to repair damaged maps. Repairing a map will not only cost a good chunk of gold but also requires several hours for the cartographer to finish the restoration work. Be warned, you will be unable to use a map while it is at the Cartographer.

+
'''The King's Vault is Open!'''

Players will need to test their hunting knowledge and think outside the box to catch these new powerful breeds of mice. These mice are particularly hard to attract to your trap so you will need to create new and exotic bait to hunt with. Think carefully about each of the new locations and their intended purposes. You will need very specific trap setups in order to be succesful in many of the new locations. These areas are indeed setup to prove a worthy challenge to Grandmaster MouseHunters and above!

+

To create these new types of bait, hunters now have access to a crafting skill. Crafting items require ingredients which can be collected from mice or purchased from a new store called the General Store. To combine ingredients, visit the crafting tab in your inventory. If you have any crafting items a form will be presented where you can experiment with various combinations of items. At first, players will need to work together to discover the handful of initial recipes, but we are planning on releasing a creative way of discovering what combinations work in the near future as well as additional items that can be crafted. As players advance upwards through the hunters' titles, they will be able to combine additional ingredients. Be careful if you choose to combine your maximum allowed items; if you do so, you risk destroying your ingredients! The risk of destroying ingredients also decreases as you advance in the game.

+
Open prize packs and gain access to the King's Vault filled with goodies!

Obviously this is quite a large update and tweaks and improvements can be expected over time. In addition to a system for discovering what combination of items works in crafting we also have planned a way of easily re-creating items that you have already successfully crafted at least once. We are also working on tweaking some travel costs for the next major update to make traveling between areas that are very close on the map less expensive. We encourage your opinions and suggestions in the Ideas and Suggestions forum.

+

And all this available for $39.99 (CAD)! Just kidding! Keep on enjoying the free content! Good luck and happy hunting!

==== The King's Giveaway has BEGUN! ====

Also in this update...

+
The gilded gates protecting the King's Royal Treasure Vault have been opened and the King's Giveaway has begun!

We have tweaked the King's Reward text to be a little easier to read, while still being difficult for bots to read. Additionally we have increased the rewards slightly based on your hunters' title, higher ranked players will score bigger rewards. We'll also take one more opportunity here to remind players to use caution when downloading any third-party "MouseHunt software" or browser extensions. A couple programs have surfaced that only serve to steal your Facebook account login and password. Additionally, using any scripts or software to circumvent the King's Reward codes are a violation of the MouseHunt Terms of Service and will result in your MouseHunt account being disabled. Recently a handful of players were removed from the game for violating the MouseHunt Terms of Service. They each had well over 3 million points. Do not risk losing all your time and effort!

==== A Reminder About Bonus Hunts ====
+
Bonus hunts do not affect area progression, consume cheese or charms, or trigger special hunting effects and abilities. This means bonus hunts will not do things such as move your submarine forward in the Sunken City, advance your position in the Valour Rift, affect rage levels in Whisker Woods Rift, etc.
+

+
The "special" bonuses '''specifically''' provided by your trap, base, charm, and aura(s) (not area bonuses like the Furoma Rift Droid) are taken into account as expected when encountering a mouse on a bonus hunt.

The King's Giveaway!

18 June 2024

The King's Vault is Open!

Open prize packs and gain access to the King's Vault filled with goodies!

The King's Giveaway has BEGUN!

The gilded gates protecting the King's Royal Treasure Vault have been opened and the King's Giveaway has begun!

From now until July 2, the Treasurer, Snooty, High Roller, Mobster, and Leprechaun mice will be encountered more frequently everywhere in the Kingdom!

During the giveaway, each time you attract a mouse, you'll have a chance to attract a prize mouse as a bonus hunt which does not consume any cheese or charms and will appear as an additional hunt in your Hunter's Journal.

Capture these rare and valuable mice for Prize Keys and a chance to win SUPER|brie+, King's Credits, and more!

King's Prize Keys and The Vault

The greedy prize mice have snatched up ALL the keys this year! Only prize mice will drop King's Prize Keys but they will always drop at least one! Use these keys to open 10 Mystery Prize Packs from your Hunter's Camp. These packs contain all sorts of goodies such as Gold, Regal Charms, King's Credits and SUPER|brie+!

Once you've opened 10 Mystery Prize Packs, the King will allow you to peek into the vault and select one of three randomly offered, highly valuable prizes! Once a prize has been selected from the vault, the door will slam shut and the prizes will reset. You may visit the vault every time you open 10 prize packs!

The King's Vault will close on July 9.

Once the giveaway ends, any King's Prize Keys in your inventory will be removed, so make sure to use them up!

Prized Items

Capturing a Treasurer, Snooty, or High Roller Mouse will reward you with King's Credits which you can spend at the King's Arms or King's Cart for equipment to help you in a wide range of hunting endeavours.

Capturing a Mobster Mouse will reward you with SUPER|brie+ in quantities of 25, 50, 75, 100, 250, 500, or even 1,000!

Considered some of the most rare items in the Kingdom are the Mystery Pot of Gold and Mystery Satchel of Gold dropped by the extremely rare and elusive Leprechaun Mouse. Should you have the extraordinary luck of not only encountering but also capturing a Leprechaun Mouse it will most often drop a Mystery Satchel of Gold containing a generous quantity of Gold along with SUPER|brie+ and charms. On more rare occasions, the Leprechaun will drop a Mystery Pot of Gold which contains even more SUPER|brie+ and the chance of a cash prize!

Regal Codex

Unlock the new Regal Codex by hunting with any Regal Charm to find Regal Codex Pages as loot drops. Mice drop these pages both during and after the giveaway! The pages can then be turned in at the King's Arms for the Codex.

The codex allows you a chance to upgrade your existing Regal Charm into the next tiered version!
The Regal Codex will be a permanent addition to the King's Cart.

This means that you can obtain it even after the King's Giveaway ends!

Rainbow Treasure Maps

Inside the King's Vault, hunters may have the option to select a Rainbow Scroll Case as one possible reward. This bright and colourful case contains a lengthy treasure map, which usually allows for six hunters to participate. However, hunters can upgrade their Rainbow Scroll Cases into a PARTY SIZE version by visiting the King's Arms or King's Cart. The exchange costs a regular Rainbow Scroll Case, 1 Rare Map Dust, and 50 Magic Essence. This jumbo scroll contains the same massive map, but allows for 10 hunters to participate!

Whether you take on a regular or party size map they'll both lead to the same Rainbow Treasure Chest rewarding Gold, Points, Ancient Charms, Rainbow Charms, King's Credits, and more!

Not interested in completing such a huge map? Rainbow Treasure Maps can be completed at any time by claiming a consolation prize for a portion of the Points, Gold, and Ancient Charms based on the number of mice captured.
