The Attraction Rate describes how often a mouse is attracted to a Hunter's Trap. The better the Attraction Rate, the more likely you are to attract a mouse. There are two components that determine the Attraction Rate:
- 1) The Base Attraction Rate, which is dependent on the cheese that the Hunter is arming,
- 2) The Attraction Bonus, which is dependent on the Hunter's trap setup
Other than the two components above, the Attraction Rate can also be affected by other details. For example, when the wrong type of cheese for a location is used, the Hunter will not be able to attract anything on hunts. Special items can also have a significant effect on mice attraction, for instance, the Zurreal the Eternal mouse will not be attractable unless the Hunter arms a Scholar Charm.
All cheese have a minimum Base Attraction Rate of 70%. There are varieties of cheese with a Base Attraction Rate of 100% (meaning that a mouse will always be attracted if the cheese is appropriately used).
As of 5 October 2021, Hunters with the title of Recruit or below are guaranteed to attract a mouse with every hunt. Upon graduating to Apprentice, failure to attract will begin to function normally.
Base Attraction Rate of Standard Cheese
Cheese | Base Attraction Rate |
---|---|
Cheddar | 70% |
Marble | 75% |
Swiss | 80% |
Brie | 85% |
Gouda | 90% |
SUPER|brie+ | 100% |
Historically, prior to 5 October 2021, the Base Attraction Rates of Standard Cheese were:
- Cheddar: 50%
- Marble: 65%
- Swiss: 73%
- Brie: 80%
- Gouda: 85%
- SUPER|brie+: 99%
Definition of attraction rate messages
The attraction rate is always shown in the hunter's journal summary as a message as per follows:
- Attracted a mouse 123 times out of 134 hunts.
- 123 were eaten, 0 went stale and 3 were stolen.
- My attraction rate was very good.
The attraction rate is calculated by taking the number of mice attracted over the number of hunts. In this example, the attraction rate is 123 / 134 = 91.79%, which shows as "very good".
Hunters have also been known to have "near perfect", or even "perfect" attraction rates, usually as a result of using SUPER|brie+.
The hunter's journal summary will display the results of the hunts between the current and previous summary. The summary appears approximately every 1 day 12 hours. In the event the player has not caught any mice at all during this period, the summary will not be activated until the next catch. The table below lists the messages that players will get, and their corresponding catch percentage range.
Summary Message | Attraction Rate |
---|---|
Very Poor | >0% to <25% |
Poor | 25% to <55% |
Decent | 55% to <75% |
Good | 75% to <89% |
Very Good | 89% to <95% |
Near Perfect | 95% to <100% |
Perfect | 100% |
- Note: The value between Very Poor and Poor messages has not been confirmed. 25% is the lowest observed value for Poor.
