| This mouse is determined to ring in the New Year with a bang. After attending all of the parties it could find, it has emerged with someone else's oversized shirt, a tie that should be outlawed, and sixty pounds of fireworks which have been outlawed in most cities. The New Year's mouse intends to put on a light show so amazing that it lights up the sky for the rest of the year-- the only problem is that it hasn't really thought about how it's going to get off the ground. | |||

The New Year's Mouse is an event mouse that can be found on and around 31 December, and between late January and mid-February of each year.
- In 2014 they could be found in the Calamity Carl's Cozy Cruise for the Year of the Horse Festival.
- In 2013 they could be found in January in the Calamity Carl's Cozy Cruise for the Year of the Snake Festival, and in December in the Festive Snow Fort during the Great Winter Hunt 2013.
- In 2012 they could be found in the Year of the Dragon Festival for the Lunar New Year.
- In 2011 they could be found in the Festive Comet during the Great Winter Hunt 2011.
- In 2010 they could be found in the Festive Comet during the Great Winter Hunt 2010.
- In 2009 they could be found in Ronza's Traveling Shoppe during The Great Winter Hunt '09.
Preferred Cheese
During the Great Winter Snowball Fight they could only be attracted with Snowball Bocconcini. In 2010, there were some reports that hunters were successful attracting this mouse after switching to SUPER|brie+ cheese. In 2011, New Year's mice were found to be especially attracted to Festive Feta cheese, to the point that any other kind of cheese simply would not suffice. In 2013 and 2014, New Year's mice had no specific preference for any kind of cheese, and were available in all stages of the event.
Hunting Strategy
In 2010 and 2011, Firecracker Charms or Nitropop Charms had to be armed in order to attract this mouse. In 2013, they were available using any charm, or none at all. In 2013, they required Snowball Bocconcini cheese.
History and Trivia
- New Year's mice were released on 30 December 2009 for the first time and were found in Ronza's Traveling Shoppe during The Great Winter Hunt '09 event where they managed to intercept the shipment of rockets and firecrackers.
- Due to a typographical error, this mouse was originally released as the "New Year's Mouse Mouse." This was later corrected to New Year's Mouse. The release of MouseHunt Version 3.0 changed it again to New Years Mouse, but by 2013, the missing apostrophe was restored.
- On 30 December 2010, New Year's Mice were re-released into the Festive Comet during the Great Winter Hunt 2010, with the image updated to have the firecracker state 2011. They were known to drop King's Reserve Bubbleh and Satchel of Gold, worth 2011 gold, as loot.
- It was revealed During the Feedback Friday on 31 December 2010 that the Bubbleh loot drop was extremely low; only an approximate 6,000 New Year's Mice had the loot item.
- On 30 December 2011, New Year's Mice were re-released in the Festive Comet and across the kingdom during the Great Winter Hunt 2011, but the image remained unchanged with the firecracker still stating 2011. They developed a preference for Festive Feta as bait and were known to drop Firecracker Charms, King's Reserve Bubbleh and regional gifts, such as the Gnawnia Winter Gift, as loot.
- New Year's Mice were re-released in the Dragon Festival location on 23 January 2012 as part of the Year of the Dragon Festival, where they were found to drop Dragonbreath Potions, King's Reserve Bubbleh, and Nitropop Potions as loot. It was during this event that the use of Firecracker and Nitropop Charms to attract them was introduced. The image was updated with the year no longer showing on the firecracker.
- Re-released again on 11 February 2013 in Calamity Carl's Cozy Cruise during the Year of the Snake Festival event, they were known to drop Firecracker Charms, Cruise Bux, Souvenirs and King's Reserve Bubbleh as loot.
- On 30 December 2013, New Year's Mice were released into the Festive Snow Fort during the Great Winter Hunt 2013. They developed a preference for Snowball Bocconcini as bait and were known to drop Snowball Bocconcini, New Year's Dimensional Chest Skin, Confetti and 2014 Charms.
- On 30 January 2014, they appeared in Calamity Carl's Cozy Cruise as part of the Year of the Horse Festival event, dropping Cruise Bux, Firecracker Charms and 9 Miniatures as loot.
