Great Winter Hunt Ends Soon

4 January 2011

The Great Winter Hunt Ends Soon!
The Festive Comet will be gone on Thursday, January 6th

The Great Winter Hunt Is Coming to an End

The Festive Comet is quickly melting. Digby Scientists have estimated the comet will be entirely melted sometime on Thursday, January 6th. Have questions about what will happen with items, loot, etc? Then, you're in the right place!

The Explosive Toboggan Ride Trap

When the Festive Comet is gone, the Trapsmith there will disappear too! If you have the items required to purchase the Explosive Toboggan Ride from the Trapsmith at the Festive Comet, make sure to claim your trap before the end of the Great Winter Hunt. Once the Trapsmith is gone, you will no longer be able to aquire the Explosive Toboggan Ride.

The Double Diamond Adventure Trap

Once the Festive Comet is gone, you will no longer be able to hunt for the loot items required to build the Double Diamond Adventure Trap. If you have all the required items, but cannot yet craft the trap due to a lack of crafting slots or points, you will be able to craft the trap at anytime in the future so long as you have the required parts.

Seasoned Gouda

Seasoned Gouda is perfectly spiced to attract strong mice within the chilly climate of the Festive Comet. Take caution not to imbue more Seasoned Gouda than you need and make sure you use up your remaining Seasoned Gouda while the Festive Comet is still in Gnawnia. Once the comet has melted away, you'll need to save any left over Seasoned Gouda for the next Great Winter Hunt.

Frozen Fromage

If you have any Frozen Fromage in your inventory, now is the time to thaw it and use the Nutmeg Cheese. Squeaker Claws will be gone until next year and no other mice will be attracted to Nutmeg Cheese. Frozen Fromage will not have a use after the end of the Great Winter Hunt, so make sure you thaw any you have left and use up the Nutmeg Cheese.

Festive Trap Skins

Festive Trap skins (Icy RhinoBot and Clockapult of Winter Past) will soon be gone until next year. The skins will still be tradable on the marketplace.

What Happens If I Remain in the Festive Comet?

On Thursday, January 6th, the Festive Comet location will change to a vacant lot with only a few common mice to hunt. You'll be able to travel away at anytime via the travel page. At some point, the King will move all hunters remaining in the vacant lot to the Meadow.

The Great Winter Hunt ends January 6th, 2011
Make sure to head to the Festive Comet and sound your horn!
Happy Holiday Hunting!

News Years Mouse Joins the Party!

30 December 2010

Hold onto your toboggans, hunters! The New Years Mouse has joined the celebration at the Festive Comet!

The New Years Mouse is busy setting up fireworks displays and hoarding bottles of the King's Reserve Bubbleh, but if you're lucky you might catch one in between their celebration setup duties. If you're really lucky (like, really, really lucky) you may even find one of those bottles of bubbleh to keep for yourself!

2010 has been a great year in Gnawnia! A huge thanks goes out to the MouseHunt Community from the entire HitGrab Team for making 2010 such a fun year!

Here's looking forward to a 2011 full of MouseHunting, having fun and making new friends!

Frozen Fromage and Nutmeg Cheese

Once you have captured all 12 Mice of Winter, the magic glow of the 12 light bulbs will allow you to thaw Frozen Fromage.
Frozen in the middle of the block of ice is a morsel of Nutmeg Cheese, a perfect accompaniment to eggnog and a known favourite of Squeaker Claws.
Although Squeaker Claws can be attracted with other types of cheese, Nutmeg Cheese will almost guarantee an encounter with the villain!

Once you have collected all 12 lights from the 12 Mice of Winter you'll be able to attract the Squeaker Claws Mouse!

The Second of "The Three Ghosts"

Mouse of Winter Present
The Scrooge Mouse has another ghostly visitor at the Festive Comet. The Mouse of Winter Present is visiting the Festive Comet, showing hunters how the hunting habits are affecting the mice there. This is an elusive mouse that enjoys the taste of Seasoned Gouda and holds an item used in to build an upgrade for the Explosive Toboggan Ride.

Festive Hunting Tips from Larry

There's a lot going on at the Festive Comet and Larry the Friendly Knight wanted to give a few pointers to hunters on how best to hunt the various groups of mice invading the comet.

Gingerbread will attract the 12 Mice of Winter, with SUPER|brie+ being even more effective.

Seasoned Gouda will not only attract the 12 Mice of Winter, but will also attract The Three Ghosts of Winter and other powerful mice that drop upgrade pieces for the Explosive Toboggan Ride.

New potion found as loot at Festive Comet!

New Wave of Mice Invade the Festive Comet

The mice ruining the Great Winter Hunt celebration have slowly been pushed into hiding by the hunting efforts of the brave hunters there! This moment may, however, appear to be the calm before the storm. New and more powerful mice have shown up at the comet and are eager to put an end to the Great Winter Hunt!

Not only has the cold-hearted Scrooge mouse shown up, but also entirely new and more menacing mice have made an appearance. These more powerful mice are more difficult to hunt, requiring a specially seasoned version of Gouda cheese. Luckily, a new potion has been found at the comet that will convert your bait into Seasoned Gouda to help in hunting these new mice.

New Item at the Festive Comet Trapsmith

After carefully studying the Festive Fuses dropped by Stocking mice at the Festive Comet, the Trapsmith there has designed the new Explosive Toboggan Ride trap! In order to build an Explosive Toboggan Ride, you'll need to collect the six required items from some of the 12 Mice of Winter.

The winter fun doesn't stop there! A couple of interesting items have been discovered while hunting with Seasoned Gouda that will no doubt make a powerful upgrade to the Explosive Toboggan Ride. Be prepared, however; collecting the additional items from powerful mice at the Festive Comet is a task for experienced hunters looking for a challenge. More information will be revealed as new mice are released!

Festive Disaster! - The Festive Comet is invaded!

29 November 2010

The Festive Comet is invaded!
The Great Winter Hunt of 2010
New mice will be available throughout December!
Lighting the Great Winter Tree and new Festive Gifts, restoring the spirit of the holidays.

Festive Disaster!

There was great celebration and jubilee from veterans and novices alike as an unprecedented number of hunters gathered together to witness the Great Winter Star Ceremony near the Festive Comet. Throngs of happy hunters surrounded the massive Holiday Tree, ringed with glittering lights and tinsel. Under the broad evergreen branches sat a mountain of sightly gifts brought by the King to show his appreciation for the hard work of the hunters.

But just as the Winter Star was being raised, a booming of steel drums drowned out the cheers! Our veteran hunter's supply of spoiled eggnog from last year's Winter Hunt burst open, disgorging an indescribable odor and a cloud of choking nog-smoke! Those stalwart hunters who held their breath witnessed a league of mice rush to the tree, stripping it bare of lights, pillaging the King's special gifts, and even claiming the Winter Star itself!

It seems the mice may well have stolen away both festive cheer and cheese, but all hope is not lost! A few of our bravest hunters were so formidable they managed to tough out the eggnog stench, capturing as many mice as they could manage. Bribing these captured mice with delicious Gingerbread Cheese, they learnt that there are 12 mouse types working for 1 mysterious boss! All we know of this festi-villain is that he leaves eggnoggey footprints in the snow...

They have also learnt that the mice have a schedule for their devious plot, and the bosses will only reveal themselves if the minions fail. The King, working together with the hunters, has released a Royal Calender to coordinate our efforts.

Now it is up to you, brave hunter, to enter the Great Festive Hunt of 2010, capture the 12 mice of winter, defeat their noggy master and restore our holiday!

Restoring Holiday Cheer

Over the course of December, we'll be releasing a new mouse to the Festive Comet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Mice, once released, will stay in the area as long as the Winter Hunt is active. As you catch these mice, lights in your holiday strand will turn on as you recover the spirit of the Winter Hunt. After all 12 are released and caught, the mysterious boss will be revealed and become available to you. We're told he likes his cheese as cold as his heart...

On Tuesdays, new gifts will become available in the Festive Gift Shoppe.

On Thursdays, or 'Bonus Elf Day' as we call it in the office, twice as many Elf mice are released to the Festive Comet.

The Holiday Lights

This HUD element shows how close you are to defeating the 12 Mice of Winter.

Mice that are caught are shown with a glowing light.
Mice that are released, but not yet caught, are a grey bulb.
Mice that are not yet released are faded mysteriiiooous silhouettes of lights.

Great Winter Star Ceremony - November 29th

Just before the start of December is the Great Winter Star Ceremony. It's a celebration held by the King where the previous year's Winter Star is removed from the top of the tree and the new one is placed on top. Some mice truly despise the festivities, so there is sure to be some trouble. Mark November 29th on your calendars -- The King will need help making sure no unruly mice crash the party.

Where Do I Start?

Head over to the Festive Comet and hunt the Elf mice, which enjoy Gingerbread or SUPER|brie+ cheese. If you're feeling in the giving mood, check out the Festive Gift Shoppe and send some friends festive gifts.

Make sure to be at the Festive Comet on November 29th for the Great Winter Star Ceremony where the King will need you to be on the lookout for any suspicious mice. Good luck hunting Elf mice and happy holiday hunting!
