Preferred Cheese
What is your source that the mole mouse prefers the more expensive cheeses? There is some indication with the Catch Rate Estimator (http://mousehunt.thetoxiczone.com/catch_rates_estimates.html) that their is a slight prefrence for White Cheddar cheese in the Meadow. -- Ralphminer 11:36, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Advice?
This seems inconsistent; we don't recommend hunters to hunt in the Lab with RB for the Monster. I also don't think this is good advise, better to go to Digby and use Swiss/Brie and get catches/experience whilst chasing the Mole. Have had no confirmation they have a preference for White Cheddar. Fishwick.
- The point of hunting in Meadow with White Cheddar is that there are relatively few others that you can catch... in two days in the meadow with white cheddar, I caught two mole mice. Do note that this will only fill in as a count, you won't get your map though. However, if all you want is the picture, Meadow with WC is probably your easiest choice. -- Maymne 23:58, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
You will get the Mole, however I don't think it is the best way. 2 in 2 days is not particularly good, you get hardly any points or gold. Still doesn't answer about the inconsistency. The reason so many catch the Mole with WC is because so many are advised to. Fishwick
- I disagree. The reason people catch the Mole with WC is the same reason your garden grows better with herbicides: elimination of competition. There's a limited selection of mice in the Meadow to start with. If you then eliminate the weaker mice from the picture by using WC as bait, then simple math suggests an increase in the chances of catching a Mole.Let's look at it this way (with purely made-up numbers): These are the mice in the Meadow with made-up populations totaling a pool of 100:
White Mouse- 16Grey Mouse- 16Brown Mouse- 13- Dwarf Mouse - 11
- Mole Mouse - 2
- Steel Mouse - 10
- Granite Mouse - 10
- Bionic Mouse - 8
- Gold Mouse -6
- Diamond Mouse - 6
- In this hypothetical, that's 2 Mole mice out of 100 total mice, or a 1 in 50 chance of catching one. (And yes, I know I'm oversimplifying the math and ignoring attraction rate etc.) Using WC eliminates the ones struck out above, making it 2 Mole mice out of 55, nearly doubling your odds of catching one compared with using a different cheese. And more importantly, even if you don't catch a Mole then you're likely going to catch one of the other more valuable mice (that is, more valuable than the W/G/B eliminated by using WC). It's not as if you either catch a Mole or you catch nothing. To each his own, but I don't see a downside to using WC to catch Moles if simply catching a Mole is your aim. -- B.Rossow talkcontr 04:54, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- For my 2c, I hunted in the Meadow for 11 days with WC, Target base, and Swiss Army Trap before I caught my first Mole. I then hunted at GM level in the Town of Digby and caught two in a week - without any success with the journal cover. -- austin 02:02, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Mole Mouse Locations
I have removed Town of Gnawnia and the Laboratory as locations that the Mole Mouse can be found. The user who added the info had gotten his facts on the Laboratory wrong, so I'm removing both locations that he added as a precaution unless someone else can confirm that the Mole Mouse can indeed be caught in the Town of Gnawnia. -- Grexx 14:28, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- A bit late, but I believe that the Mole CAN be caught in the Town of Gnawnia. They're just rarer than prize mice there, thats all. I have myself seen a log with the mole mouse catch from the Town. But I'm not sure if the Devs have removed it from the locations from where he can be caught. You call if you want to add it to the locations or not. --Shinnok 06:57, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
The Back Cover outside is really hard to get!
i hunted in the Town of Digby for 3 days and got about 4 Moles. i think it was kind of lucky compared to the 1 catch out of 50, but what i got as loot was only 8 marbles which seemed worthless fot me. So i drew up the conclusion that i go to lab and hunt for potions. any other suggestions to get the pages, back cover ouside? --Zxr6 14:50, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, it is hard. If you want it, you just have to persevere. Alternatively hunt for Burglar in Bazaar. By the way, both Mole and Burglar carry both of the back cover pages (inside and outside). -- Camomiletea 15:23, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, yes it is. I tried in the Bazaar for a week, with the DDB and combinations of explosive base / dehy base / target base. I had 6 Burglars, as many run offs with Burglars stealing gold / points / additional cheese, and no journal cover. At least catching the Burglars made up for it with loot of Brie. -- austin 02:02, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
