The Steel Mouse is a breed of mouse found in the Gnawnia and Burroughs regions. They are known to drop Lab Research worth 750 bonus points and Radioactive Blue Cheese Potions in the Laboratory. They are also known to drop Scrap Metal if captured with the Digby Drillbot or the Chrome DrillBot.

- They were found at the Festive Comet during The Great Winter Hunt '09.
- They were found at the Heart of the Tiger Party during the Heart of the Tiger event.
- They started to drop Scrap Metal on 10 August 2010.
- Steel mice were available in all three sections of the Haunted Terrortories location during the 2010 and 2011 Halloween Trick AND Treat Events, where they could drop Scrap Metal if hunted with an appropriate weapon.
- They were found at the Festive Comet during The Great Winter Hunt 2010.
- On 15 December 2010, Steel Mice in the Festive Comet were found to drop Seasoned Gouda Potions for the first time.
- Steel mice appeared at the Birthday Party Celebration location during the MouseHunt's Fourth Birthday Celebration event, during which they were known to drop 2012 Birthday Gifts and Party Charms as loot.
- On 11 February 2013, they appeared in Calamity Carl's Cozy Cruise as part of the Year of the Snake Festival, dropping Cruise Bux, Scrap Metal, Iceberg Souvenirs, and Acolyte Realm Souvenirs as loot.
- On 25 June 2013, they gained a vulnerability to Law power type traps, with the release of Varmint Valley.
- On 10 December 2013, they appeared at the Festive Snow Fort during the Great Winter Snowball Fight.
- On 25 March 2014, the Spiritual Steel mouse was introduced as the Rift counterpart of the Steel mouse.
