Event Mice (Prize) refers to mice that give or used to give a real world prize to hunters when caught. Prize mice never appear in the Meadow. They do not belong to a specific season or event, but they are not always available.

Catching a Prize Mouse creates a bonus hunt entry in the Hunter's Journal:

[Time] - [Location]
Lucky me, a prize mouse wandered by and fell for my trap!
I caught a [weight] [mouse name] before it could even touch my cheese!
The mousse dropped the following prize:
[Loot Item]

Preferred Cheese

As of 11 November 2015, Prize Mice do not consume cheese or charms when attracted or caught.

The new mechanics are explained in a forum post by Dave Vanderburg on 20 November 2015:

Prize Mouse Updates
Updates to prize mice are now live in the game! There is now a chance of encountering a prize mouse during a "bonus hunt" after any hunt in which you attract a mouse. This bonus hunt will not consume any bait or charms. Prize mice can now be attracted with any bait since you’ll never loose a piece of valuable cheese to a prize mouse. You can also encounter prize mice in any location in the Kingdom except the Meadow.

The Leprechaun Mouse has had a minor update. Leprechauns now drop either a Mystery Pot of Gold or a new item called a Mystery Satchel of Gold. The Mystery Satchel of Gold is a smaller version of the pot of gold that contains slightly less gold and SUPER|brie+. Instead of a chance of finding cash in a satchel, you can instead find a hefty amount of either Rainbow Luck Charms or King’s Credits. This change has allowed us to release a few more Leprechauns without breaking our budget.
