====Taking Flight from the Launch Pad====
 +

 +
Upon arriving at the Floating Islands, you'll find yourself at the Launch Pad where your airship is tethered and awaiting your arrival.
 +

 +
Before embarking on your first flight, it may be wise to hunt the Launch Pad mice to recover morsels of tasty Cloud Curd which the local Cheese Shoppe can convert into Cloud Cheesecake. This fluffy yet richly-flavoured cheesy treat is a favourite among the mice that inhabit the skies above Hollow Heights. Ronza recommends stocking up with '''75 pieces''' before embarking on your first flight.

With a stash of Cloud Cheesecake at the ready, use the Sky Map to chart a course to a Floating Island of your choosing. Your Skyfarer's Oculus will allow you to focus in on the random islands on the horizon and see what resources and possible mice you'll encounter when you arrive.

====Exploring a Floating Island====
 +
Upon landing on a Floating Island, take note of the island's landscape which indicates its power type and the breeds of mice you'll encounter. You'll want to arm an appropriate trap and have it baited with Cloud Cheesecake.
 +

 +
Have a specific power type setup you plan to always use? Access your airship's '''Trap Library''' via the heads-up display to save a favourite setup and associate it with that specific island's power type. Next time you visit an island of that power type the trap library will automatically switch your setup. Neat!
 +

 +
Your objective while hunting on a Floating Island is to explore its landscape in order to discover all the resources it has to offer. As you explore by catching mice, you'll uncover areas of the island which determine the type and quantity of loot you'll find and can even provide a boost to your exploration speed.
 +

 +
Failing to capture a mouse will allow it to alert the others to your presence and progress their plan for an ambush! The heads-up display will show your exploration progress as well as the ambush advancing towards you as two progress bars. Be extra careful when the bars meet, the resulting battle can undo your exploration efforts!

====Defeating Four Sky Wardens====
 +

 +
When selecting an island, pay special attention to ones which have a Warden Shrine present. Each magical weather shrine is guarded by one of the four Sky Wardens who harness its power to control the weather.
 +

 +
The shrines are projecting their magic even higher into the sky to create a dangerous storm that prevents flight to higher altitudes. Visit the islands with these shrines and defeat the Sky Wardens there to temporarily clear the weather and allow you to explore the High Altitude Islands.
 +

 +
'''Explore an island where a Warden Shrine is present'''
 +
Encounter a powerful Sky Warden when the two progress bars on the HUD meet.
 +
With the Sky Warden defeated, you may either continue to explore the island to gather more resources or return to the Launch Pad to choose your next island. The Sky Map will keep track of how many Sky Wardens you've defeated as you work towards eliminating all four.

====Upgrading your Oculus and Customizing your Airship====
 +

 +
As you explore the Floating Islands, you'll find Sky Ore and Sky Glass which can be used to upgrade your Skyfarer's Oculus by visiting the Workshop on the Launch Pad. Each upgrade will increase the quantity and variety of island resources you can find! Larger deposits of Sky Ore and Sky Glass, stashes of Cloud Curd, valuable Loot Caches, and even Sky Pirate Dens can be revealed by your upgraded oculus.

====Valour Rift Entrance Stabilized====
+
'''Upgrade your oculus in the Workshop to find more lucrative islands.'''
After much careful and diligent research from Gnawnia's finest scientists, a means of stabilizing an entrance into the Valour Rift has been discovered! Hunters ranked Archduke/Archduchess and above who have recovered 2,000 Rift Distortions and acquired a map of the Valour Rift can now enter this new area within the Rift Plane.

If you have not yet obtained a map of the Valour Rift, doing so requires the rank of Grand Duke/Grand Duchess and access to the Bristle Woods Rift. Visit the Cartographer at the Bristle Woods Rift to purchase a Rift Chronometer which will allow you to recover the 2,000 Rift Distortions the Cartographer needs to issue you a map. Accessing the Valour Rift is outlined as the first step in the new Archduke/Archduchess adventure "End the Total Eclipse".
+
While your Skyfarer's Oculus will help you find more lucrative islands to explore, you can also customize the look of your airship in the Workshop to soar through the sky in style! There are a few cosmetic upgrades for sale at the Floating Island General Store and you may just find more rare cosmetics as you explore the islands. Some of these scarce and stylish cosmetics can be exchanged on the marketplace.

====Preliminary Rift Gauntlet Research====
+
====Confronting Paragons on High Altitude Islands====
During the stabilization research, the King's scientists collected some preliminary information on what awaits hunters within the Valour Rift. The Rift Gauntlet is an expansive area with powerful mice and no doubt rewarding secrets to discover. Although there's still much to learn about this new area within the Rift Plane, one thing is for certain: It's going to take a while to explore everything there!

'''Endless Tower'''<br>
+
Once you have defeated four Sky Wardens, your Sky Map will change and allow you to chart a High Altitude Island where powerful Sky Paragons and more valuable resources await!
The Valour Rift is an especially twisted version of our reality, mirroring the King's Gauntlet in a sinister way. The tower appears to endlessly stretch into a starry abyss with no end in sight. The interior of the tower presents an even more baffling paradox. Early attempts at navigation revealed 8 uniquely themed floors within the tower. However, upon exiting the eighth floor, these early navigators found themselves back where they started, yet further from their destination. A truly confusing experience!

'''Gauntlet Elixir and Champion's Fire'''<br>
+
When selecting a High Altitude Island, the power type of the island determines which Paragon you encounter and the type of Paragon Loot Shrine present determines what resource that Paragon is protecting.
Early attempts at navigating the Valour Rift Gauntlet revealed a timid, yet critical character -- The Terrified Adventurer Mouse. Despite a clear lack of prowess, this battle-hardened adventurer is determined to conquer its fear by climbing to the top of the tower!

This mouse appears throughout the tower and carries knowledge of shortcuts which can be utilized by hunters to traverse the tower more quickly. Capturing the Terrified Adventurer Mouse will grant x2 progress within the tower, helping you reach greater heights! However, the Terrified Adventurer has a very specific cheese taste. You'll need Gauntlet String Cheese which can be purchased from the local Cheese Shoppe by exchanging Gauntlet Elixirs collected outside the tower.
+
There are four unique types of Paragon loot: Sky Sprockets, Skysoft Silk, Enchanted Wings, and Cloudstone Bangles. Collect two of each to purchase an Adorned Empyrean Jewel and unlock powerful new traps!

Champion's Fire can be used to light your way both inside and outside the Rift Gauntlet. Burning this fire provides +1 to many loot drops both inside and outside the tower. Additionally, while ascending the Rift Gauntlet, lighting Champion's Fire will move you forward +1 step with each capture.
+
Upon defeating a Sky Paragon, the four Sky Wardens will regroup and cover the upper skies with powerful storms once again. You'll need to defeat the four wardens again before you can return to the High Altitude Islands.

The Rift Chronometer has revealed some secrets on how the Gauntlet Tower within the Valour Rift keeps itself out of sync with our timeline. Although the Chronometer will allow you to enter the tower, you'll fall slightly out of sync with the tower after each hunt. Eventually, the stairs below your feet will cease to exist in your timeline, sending you back down to the tower entrance.

====Shopping the Skies====
 +
Be sure to browse the various shops at the Floating Islands where a variety of wares are available to assist you in your high-flying adventures. The Cheese Shoppe stocks Cloud Cheesecake, the Trapsmith has eight new impressive traps, the General Store sells unique items to help chart the skies, and the Cartographer has a special Scroll Case!

'''Tower Augmentations'''<br>
+
Finally, the Charm Shoppe offers a variety of useful charms, including an "exchange up" for Ancient Charms, allowing you to upgrade Ancient Charms into their super, extreme, and even ultimate variants!
The magical markings on the Tower Sigils revealed some of the secrets of how the mice have managed to distort reality.

Recover Tower Sigils and other powerful artifacts from within the Rift Gauntlet to distort the tower to your own advantage. As you learn more about the tower, you'll be able to utilize this power in the form of augmentations that will transform the tower before entering it. However, these augmentations will only persist until you exit the tower.

Perhaps the most powerful tower augmentation is '''Ultimate Umbra'''. This augmentation will wrap the tower in utter darkness and summon more powerful mice which are sure to lead to greater rewards! Take warning: The pitch dark of an Ultimate Umbra will embolden the mice within the tower, giving them the ability to push you backwards on the stairwell.

This means we are able to restore a few of the scoreboards as they were on September 21.

'''Ancient Charm Upgrading'''

====Rebuilding Mouse Scoreboards====
+
Upgrade ancients at the Charm Shoppe!<br>
Scoreboards that track the number of times hunters have caught a specific type of mouse can technically be rebuilt by using hunters' catch statistics. This data was effectively being stored in two places, meaning we can use that redundancy to repopulate scoreboards for specific mouse catches.

We're a bit stretched for developer resources while working on infrastructure stability and wrapping up work on the upcoming Valour Rift release. However, once the Valour Rift is released and the infrastructure upgrade work is completed, we'll be looking into repopulating these mouse scoreboards.
+
'''Sky Pirate Scroll Case'''

====Restarting Other Scoreboards====
+
Purchase with Pirate Seals!
The final decision to make is what to do about all other scoreboards. We can either restart these scoreboards from scratch or retire them from the game. This is a decision we're looking for feedback on, so please let us know your thoughts in the comments section. If we were to restart these scoreboards, we would most likely place an asterisk next to those boards and note the date at which the scoreboards started on.
+
Track down Sky Pirates to recover Pirate Seals to purchase this valuable scroll case. Who knows what valuable loot these pirates have hidden in the skies?!

Some hunters may also view a subtle difference between scoreboards which may be worth feedback and discussion. Some lost scoreboards tracked one off "feats" while others tracked an accumulating stat over time.
+
'''Ronza has lifted off!'''

Example: Sunken City: Highest Dive Catches tracked a "best record" of sorts from a single dive, while Oxygen Canisters Depleted tracked an accumulating stat across '''all''' dives. Due to their nature, re-obtaining the best record is feasible while accumulating stats will technically always be inaccurate.
+
As Ronza departs, she's leading the first armada of airships into Hollow Heights airspace to explore the newly discovered Floating Islands!

If restarting some scoreboards is something you're in favour of, let us know if you think both feats and accumulating stats should be restarted, or if only feats should be.
+

'''Once again, we want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we work through this unfortunate loss of scoreboard data. We've taken the positive comments and constructive feedback to heart and going forward will endeavour to build a better scoreboard system for this amazing community of players.'''

====Update on Recent Stability Issues====
+
====Take Flight above Hollow Heights====
Greetings, MouseHunters. We've been working through problems caused by the infrastructure issues we faced last week and would like to share our progress and results.
+
With her airship docked in Gnawnia, Ronza has been busy studying the cause of the troublesome turbulence that plagued her flightpath through Hollow Heights airspace. She's long known the storms above Moussu Picchu to be supernatural in nature, but only recently discovered their origin is directly tied to Storm Dragons.
 +

 +
Above the peaks of Moussu Picchu, above even the clouds obscuring their summit, severe magical storms ravage the skies preventing any hunter from daring to explore the mysteries high above Hollow Heights. However, the relentless pursuit to understand the source of Ful'Mina the Mountain Queen's power, along with Ronza's recent flight data, has revealed a glimpse into how Storm Dragons can bend the power of weather to their will.
 +

 +
''After close collaboration with Ronza, the Cartographer at Moussu Picchu has put forth a design plan for a dirigible capable of navigating through the magical storms!''
 +

 +
====Recovering an Oculus for Aerial Reconnaissance====
 +

 +
Ronza's flight data has confirmed what many believed to be myth: Ful'Mina and the other Storm Dragons are in possession of four magical weather stones. These stones are believed to protect Storm Dragons from the intense weather energy they so easily control and are the secret to protecting an airship seeking passage above Hollow Heights.
 +

 +

 +
Finding these stones, however, is no straightforward task. They're obscured from anyone not utilizing a Skyfarer's Oculus for aerial reconnaissance. Ancient legend states that this powerful lens is guarded by Ful'Mina herself, which means you must confront her at Moussu Picchu and pry the oculus from her powerful grasp.

:*Lost Scoreboard Data
+
====Purchasing your Airship====
::The infrastructure issue last week primarily affected the server we use for tracking scoreboards. The data became corrupted and upon attempting to restore from a backup we noticed the backups were also corrupted. Our technical research into restoring from a corrupt backup had mixed results. We were able to restore some of the data, however, due to the nature of scoreboards only having a partial set of data is not useful.

::For the time being, we've taken down these affected scoreboards, which are unfortunately the majority of scoreboards in the game. The scoreboards which remain are: Points, Gold, Catches, Library Points, Map Clues Collected, and Scavenger Hunt Hints Collected. These scoreboards will automatically update the '''next time''' you contribute to them. For example: If you're currently unranked for Map Clues Collected, finding a Treasure Map Clue will place you back on the scoreboard with your total number of clues found.
+
Once you safely recover a fully functional Skyfarer's Oculus, you'll be able to seek out the four warden stones and purchase your very own dirigible!

::We'll be continuing work to reinstate other scoreboards in a way which will minimize the chances of similar instability occurring in the future. Unfortunately, any other scoreboards we bring back aside from the ones mentioned above will come back in a reset state, meaning hunters will have to compete again from scratch. The scoreboard system needs an extensive overhaul to make it easier to maintain and scale better with a large number of active scoreboards.
+
Put your oculus to use by tracking down '''any''' of the Storm Dragon mice and recover a Fog Warden Stone, Frost Warden Stone, Rain Warden Stone, and Wind Warden Stone.

:*Lost Team Trophy Data
+
Finally, visit the Moussu Picchu Cartographer to have the four stones and oculus installed onto your very own dirigible!
::The collection of Tournament Trophies and Badges earned by a specific team was unfortunately lost. We've replaced the section on team profiles to instead show the total collection of Trophies and Badges held by '''current''' team members. This means the trophy and badge count will change when players join or leave a team.

::We've also removed any restrictions on unlocking new team slots based on trophies and badges collected. Instead, all teams will now be able to add the maximum number of hunters without first earning trophies or badges.
+
====Preparing for the First Air Expedition====
 +
With so many hunters about to become novice pilots, the King has expressed some concern for safety.

::We've restored as much team tournament history as we could from the corrupted backup and new tournament scheduling will resume soon.
+
'''His Majesty has decreed that the first air expedition will be an armada of airships led by Ronza herself!'''
 +
Under the experienced tutelage of Ronza, the King is confident that the first coordinated flights by Gnawnian hunters will proceed without incident.

:*Difficulties Remaining Logged In
+
Hunters of rank Archduke/Archduchess (and above) who have secured their own Dirigible and Flight License on Tuesday, September 8 can be some of the very first to take flight and explore what lands are '''floating''' above Hollow Heights. Thereafter, any hunter is free to take flight without the direct supervision of Ronza.
::The same infrastructure used to host scoreboards is also used to keep hunters logged in. Before the instability we were already in the process of refactoring this system to not use scoreboard infrastructure. The infrastructure issues certainly boosted the priority of this project. We've completed refactoring, however, with the scoreboard infrastructure now stabilized we'll be allowing ourselves more time to do testing to ensure a smooth transition.

'''Understandably the loss of scoreboard data is upsetting and further more, our inability to restore from a backup is disappointing.'''
+
'''The first air expedition will depart on Tuesday, September 8.'''

'''We've made the difficult decision to leave several scoreboards removed to make sure that when we rebuild the system we create one we can maintain with the limited resources our small team has and provide the type of scoreboard system hunters deserve.'''
+

====iOS 13 Issues====
+
----
After some more technical research, we have identified the issue causing some buttons in the mobile app to be unresponsive or register as a double tap on devices running iOS 13. The update was recently approved by Apple. Keep an eye out for version 1.84.0 (or higher) in the App Store.

Explore the Floating Islands

8 September 2020

Take flight with Ronza and explore the skies!
The time has come to put your very own dirigible to use and take flight above Hollow Heights!

Explore the Floating Islands

Have you repaired the Skyfarer's Oculus? Have you used it to track down the four magical Warden Stones from the Storm Dragons of Moussu Picchu and taken possession of your very own airship? If so, then prepare to take flight with Ronza's armada of airships and embark on a brand new adventure!

Take on a new, permanent adventure: Explore the Floating Islands
Hunters of rank Archduke/Archduchess (and above) can now take to the skies!

Taking Flight from the Launch Pad

Upon arriving at the Floating Islands, you'll find yourself at the Launch Pad where your airship is tethered and awaiting your arrival.

Ronza recommends stocking up with 75 pieces before embarking on your first flight.

  • 100 Cloud Cheesecake
A favourite for skyfarers!
  • 500 Cloud Cheesecake
Long haul hunting!

With a stash of Cloud Cheesecake at the ready, use the Sky Map to chart a course to a Floating Island of your choosing. Your Skyfarer's Oculus will allow you to focus in on the random islands on the horizon and see what resources and possible mice you'll encounter when you arrive.

Exploring a Floating Island

Upon landing on a Floating Island, take note of the island's landscape which indicates its power type and the breeds of mice you'll encounter. You'll want to arm an appropriate trap and have it baited with Cloud Cheesecake.

Have a specific power type setup you plan to always use? Access your airship's Trap Library via the heads-up display to save a favourite setup and associate it with that specific island's power type. Next time you visit an island of that power type the trap library will automatically switch your setup. Neat!

Your objective while hunting on a Floating Island is to explore its landscape in order to discover all the resources it has to offer. As you explore by catching mice, you'll uncover areas of the island which determine the type and quantity of loot you'll find and can even provide a boost to your exploration speed.

Defeating Four Sky Wardens

When selecting an island, pay special attention to ones which have a Warden Shrine present. Each magical weather shrine is guarded by one of the four Sky Wardens who harness its power to control the weather.

The shrines are projecting their magic even higher into the sky to create a dangerous storm that prevents flight to higher altitudes. Visit the islands with these shrines and defeat the Sky Wardens there to temporarily clear the weather and allow you to explore the High Altitude Islands.

Explore an island where a Warden Shrine is present Encounter a powerful Sky Warden when the two progress bars on the HUD meet. With the Sky Warden defeated, you may either continue to explore the island to gather more resources or return to the Launch Pad to choose your next island. The Sky Map will keep track of how many Sky Wardens you've defeated as you work towards eliminating all four.

Upgrading your Oculus and Customizing your Airship

As you explore the Floating Islands, you'll find Sky Ore and Sky Glass which can be used to upgrade your Skyfarer's Oculus by visiting the Workshop on the Launch Pad. Each upgrade will increase the quantity and variety of island resources you can find! Larger deposits of Sky Ore and Sky Glass, stashes of Cloud Curd, valuable Loot Caches, and even Sky Pirate Dens can be revealed by your upgraded oculus.

Upgrade your oculus in the Workshop to find more lucrative islands.

Confronting Paragons on High Altitude Islands

Once you have defeated four Sky Wardens, your Sky Map will change and allow you to chart a High Altitude Island where powerful Sky Paragons and more valuable resources await!

When selecting a High Altitude Island, the power type of the island determines which Paragon you encounter and the type of Paragon Loot Shrine present determines what resource that Paragon is protecting.

There are four unique types of Paragon loot: Sky Sprockets, Skysoft Silk, Enchanted Wings, and Cloudstone Bangles. Collect two of each to purchase an Adorned Empyrean Jewel and unlock powerful new traps!

Upon defeating a Sky Paragon, the four Sky Wardens will regroup and cover the upper skies with powerful storms once again. You'll need to defeat the four wardens again before you can return to the High Altitude Islands.

Ronza has lifted off!

As Ronza departs, she's leading the first armada of airships into Hollow Heights airspace to explore the newly discovered Floating Islands!

Ascending to new Hollowed Heights

25 August 2020

What lies beyond the storms of Moussu Picchu?
Build your own dirigible and take flight to explore what lands may float above Hollow Heights.

Take Flight above Hollow Heights

With her airship docked in Gnawnia, Ronza has been busy studying the cause of the troublesome turbulence that plagued her flightpath through Hollow Heights airspace. She's long known the storms above Moussu Picchu to be supernatural in nature, but only recently discovered their origin is directly tied to Storm Dragons.

After close collaboration with Ronza, the Cartographer at Moussu Picchu has put forth a design plan for a dirigible capable of navigating through the magical storms!

Recovering an Oculus for Aerial Reconnaissance

Ronza's flight data has confirmed what many believed to be myth: Ful'Mina and the other Storm Dragons are in possession of four magical weather stones. These stones are believed to protect Storm Dragons from the intense weather energy they so easily control and are the secret to protecting an airship seeking passage above Hollow Heights.

Purchasing your Airship

Once you safely recover a fully functional Skyfarer's Oculus, you'll be able to seek out the four warden stones and purchase your very own dirigible!

Put your oculus to use by tracking down any of the Storm Dragon mice and recover a Fog Warden Stone, Frost Warden Stone, Rain Warden Stone, and Wind Warden Stone.

Finally, visit the Moussu Picchu Cartographer to have the four stones and oculus installed onto your very own dirigible!

Preparing for the First Air Expedition

With so many hunters about to become novice pilots, the King has expressed some concern for safety.

His Majesty has decreed that the first air expedition will be an armada of airships led by Ronza herself! Under the experienced tutelage of Ronza, the King is confident that the first coordinated flights by Gnawnian hunters will proceed without incident.

Hunters of rank Archduke/Archduchess (and above) who have secured their own Dirigible and Flight License on Tuesday, September 8 can be some of the very first to take flight and explore what lands are floating above Hollow Heights. Thereafter, any hunter is free to take flight without the direct supervision of Ronza.

The first air expedition will depart on Tuesday, September 8.
