Very effective does not mean double power

There was a post here stating that traps which are "very effective" have double the chance of catching a mouse. First of all, there is speculation, unconfirmed by the devs, that some traps have twice the power against mice of the same power type. This is not true of physical mice, which no trap is very effective against. Also, twice the power, even if true, does not mean twice the chance of catching. For example, a drillbot will almost always catch the (tactical) dwarf mouse. It isn't possible for a tactical trap (even one with 10,000 power) to catch twice that many. Conversely, a low power tactical trap will rarely catch a strong tactical mouse such as the master of the dojo, but a physical trap of the same power will almost never catch it - and certainly do so less than half as often. -- Pakaran 18:46, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Consolidation of Power Type Articles

Planning on consolidating the power type articles such as Physical, Tactical, etc. They don't contain much information in themselves, and are just lists of mice and traps of a particular type. The lists will be removed as they serve little purpose. They will instead be replaced by the general regions where the mice and traps can be found, as well as their general effectiveness against mice types. The existing pages will then become redirects pointing to the respective section on this article instead. -- Grexx 08:03, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

If we remove those lists, could we create additional categories like Category:Shadow Mice / Category:Shadow Weapons? -- Camomiletea 15:05, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
That makes more sense than the current format, which thinking about it, is just like a subcategory page in itself. So in this case, the additional changes we need would be to make Category:Mice the main category consisting mainly only of the various subcategories of mice, such as those based on location and power type (new addition). The mice template will need to be adjusted to remove the automatic inclusion of Category:Mice though. We can do this in 2 ways, either manually adding the power type categories, or creating a Template:Shadow Mouse, Template:Physical Mouse, etc, in place of the current Template:Mouse. I would settle for manually adding power type categories though, for the sake of simplicity. -- Grexx 17:01, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
You gave me an idea for a tweak in the Template:Mouse. It will now add the appropriate power type category. Or at least as soon as I remove a few square brackets all the mice articles. See Ghost Mouse for a working example. -- Camomiletea 18:11, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
