Talk:Realm Ripper Mouse
Bait preference
I'm looking for evidence to back up the edit by User:Aaronmil regarding the bait pref. Personally I haven't attracted Realm Ripper with White cheddar (but keep in mind the small sample size, and the fact that white cheddar generally has a low attraction, so that doesn't say much); and another person contacted me to say that they aren't attracted to Runic. -- camomiletea 05:20, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi camomile, I made that edit based on reports of attractions of the realm ripper with cheddar. It seems that cheeses with very low attraction rates continue to have very low attraction rates, but the only mouse that they can attract when FG is closed is the realm ripper. If white cheddar and runic can normally attract at all, I'm assuming it's a matter of number of hunts before runic attracts a realm ripper, unless runic's attraction is normally zero in FG when it's open, I don't know I've never tried it outside of AR. --Aaronmil 05:57, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarification. The wording "particularly attracted to" doesn't exclude the other types of cheese that it may be attracted to. It's still useful to mention the type of cheese it is attracted to significantly more than the rest, especially since you only get 4 hours to catch it in. That's what we do with many other mice; for those with exclusive bait preferences we add a wording like "to the point that any other cheese will simply not suffice". So I added back Ancient as bait pref, and will try out some other baits when Grove closes next. -- camomiletea 06:07, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- I've been given a link to the relevant forum thread. In summary, Realm Ripper is attracted to all normal store-bought cheese, radioactive blue and ancient, and has been caught with white cheddar too. They are not attracted to Runic. The effectiveness gauge on the camp page says "Good with Whine (check bait)" for Runic, and varies from medium to strong for the others. -- camomiletea 15:59, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
So why did you only add RB as a preferred bait? --aaronmil 16:52, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- Because it appears that those two are more attractive than others. I wasn't able to check the baits this time because I caught the mouse on the trap check before I switched the cheese. I don't think we have enough information, so if you can, please add more. Also if you would like to propose a wording that explains that the mouse may be attracted to other cheese besides the ones mentioned as the particular preference, please do. -- camomiletea 17:04, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
