Overview
Scroll Cases can contain Relic Hunter Treasure Maps, Area-Specific Treasure Maps, or Event Treasure Maps.
Scroll Cases occasionally contain Rare Map Dust.
Scroll Cases cannot be traded with other players or sold on the Marketplace.
Relic Hunter Scroll Cases
Relic Hunter Scroll Cases are dropped by the Relic Hunter Mouse. Hunters must have an Ancient Relic in their inventory, as the Relic Hunter Mouse will take one in exchange for the scroll case it leaves behind. The Relic Hunter Mouse will still be encountered, but will not take Ancient Relics or leave scroll cases, if a Hunter has reached the maximum of 20 Relic Hunter Scroll Cases in their inventory. Once a Hunter's inventory of Relic Hunter Scroll Cases drops below 20, the Relic Hunter Mouse will again drop Relic Hunter Scroll Cases.
Relic Hunter Treasure Maps take Hunters throughout the Kingdom. As Hunters increase in rank they are able to find more difficult maps inside Relic Hunter Scroll Cases.

Area-Specific Scroll Cases
Cartographers sell Area-Specific Scroll Cases in exchange for Ancient Relics. There is no limit to the number of each Area-Specific Scroll Case that Hunters may have in their inventory.
The Sealed Wanted Poster is a special type of Area-Specific Scroll Case that is dropped by the Bounty Hunter Mouse in Claw Shot City. Hunters do not need Ancient Relics to acquire the Sealed Wanted Poster. Hunters may only have one Sealed Wanted Poster in their inventory.
These Scroll Cases contain maps focused on finding mice in specific areas.
Toxic Scroll Cases
Toxic Scroll Cases can be purchased at the Toxic Spill Cartographer in exchange for 3 Ancient Relics. The maps found inside depend upon the Pollution Level of the Toxic Spill when the scroll case is opened. Hunters ranked Hero and above can be invited to join any of these maps, but they may not travel to the Toxic Spill until it is opened to Hunters of their rank.
The maps can be redeemed once the pollution level during which they are opened has been completed. The consolation prize for the incomplete map is based on the number of mice that have been found when the map is redeemed. Only the Map Captain may choose to collect the consolation prize, but the prize will be awarded to all Hunters on the map when the Captain chooses to do so.
After a Pollution Level is cleared, the Active Map tab will show a message explaining that the map can be discarded in exchange for a consolation prize.
- The King allows Map Owners to discard this incomplete map and claim a consolation prize. See more
Choosing See more opens a frame that allows the Map Captain to Claim Consolation Prize.
- The severity of the Toxic Spill has decreased. You may claim a consolation prize for this map as some mice may have retreated into the bowels of the Laboratory.
- The more mice caught, the more consolation prizes are rewarded.
- Gold, Points, Ancient Charms
- Any Rare Map Dust used to upgrade the map will be refunded.
- Once claimed, the map will be deleted.
Choosing to claim the consolation prize cannot be undone and creates a Journal entry:
- The map owner has decided to claim consolation prizes.
- For helping find [#] mice, we were all awarded the following consolation prize:
- [List of gold, points and Ancient Charms awarded]
Rainbow Scroll Cases
Rainbow Scroll Cases are awarded during the King's Giveaway when opening Mystery Prize Packs. Hunters are limited to a single Rainbow Scroll Case during the event. The maps found inside depend upon the Hunter's Title when the scroll case is opened.
These maps can be redeemed at any point, provided at least one mouse has been captured. The consolation prize for the incomplete map is based on the number of mice that have been found when the map is redeemed. Only the Map Captain may choose to collect the consolation prize, but the prize will be awarded to all Hunters on the map when the Captain chooses to do so.
The Active Map tab will show a message explaining that the map can be discarded in exchange for a consolation prize.

Event Scroll Cases - Redeemable Maps
These Event Scroll Cases are found at Event Cartographers. There is often a limit on the number of each type of Event Scroll Case that Hunters may have in their inventory.
Maps in these scroll cases (found after the Season 3 map update of 23 June 2015) can be cashed out if they are started and remain unfinished after the end of an event. Scroll Cases released before that date will contain maps that cannot be cashed out if they remain unfinished at the end of an event.
The rewards for incomplete maps can only be obtained after the event ends and must be claimed by the map owner for map participants to receive them. The rewards include gold, points, and Ancient Charms based on how complete the map is when redeemed. Only Hunters still on the map when it is redeemed will receive the rewards. If the map has been dusted, the Rare Map Dust will be returned to the Hunter that dusted the map, even if that Hunter is no longer on the map.

Event Scroll Cases - Non-Redeemable Maps
Event Scroll Cases are found as loot or awarded for completing tasks during the various Events held in the Kingdom. There is often a limit on the number of each type of Event Scroll Case that Hunters may have in their inventory.
Maps in these scroll cases (found before the Season 3 map update of 23 June 2015) cannot be cashed out if they are started and remain unfinished after the end of an event. Scroll Cases released after that date will contain maps that can be cashed out if they remain unfinished at the end of an event.
- 1 In 2012 and 2013 the scroll case and treasure chests were simply called Halloween Scroll Case and Halloween Treasure Chest. At the end of the Halloween 2012 event any remaining scroll cases in Hunter inventories were converted to standard Treasure Map Scroll Cases. In 2013 the Halloween Scroll Case was reintroduced. The names were changed in 2014 to 2012 Halloween Scroll Case and 2012 Halloween Treasure Chest.
History and Trivia
- 23 June 2015: All Treasure Map Scroll Cases in Hunter inventories were renamed Relic Hunter Scroll Cases at the beginning of Season 3 of treasure hunting. Hunters with more than the new maximum amount of 20 Relic Hunter Scroll Cases did not lose any, but won't gain new ones until they deplete their stock below the capped amount.
- 23 June 2015: Cartographers begin dropping area-specific Scroll Cases.
