Hey everyone!

I just wanted to clear up some things!

Banner ads:
We are aware that some of the Google Ads have been less than tasteful as of late. We're looking into disabling some of these because we like to keep it clean around here. =)

Toolbar:
First of all, please be aware that we do NOT sell user info to ANYONE! This is completely against the Facebook ToS AND our morals! There was speculation of this and I just wanted to clear that up. Some players believed this was how we made money from the toolbar, but that's achieved from the sponsored searches that appear in the results (which is how you get free SB+ in return!). Our users' privacy is one of our TOP priorities and we would never compromise that.

Secondly, the warning messages about "fraud" have been intimidating some users, and we were surprised when we saw them as well. It seems our affiliate has chosen some rather strong vocabulary in "warning" users. I wanted to make it clear that your MouseHunt account is in NO RISK whatsoever. What the message is trying to say is that searches should be valid and wholesome, not just gibberish, but it seems the filter for picking this pattern up is a little sensitive.

Again, your MouseHunt account is NOT at risk. The wording used in the warning message is confusing and can lead you to believe this, but it is not the case. We are speaking with our affiliate to have this cleared up.

Trap checks:
We've been looking into the "missing" trap checks and it might just be a case of the journal entries not showing up, but the trap checks are still actually happening. We'll see what we can do to get this sorted out.

Thanks for reading, and I hope this answers some questions! =)

Hello MouseHunters!

Today's release adds more features and content than you can shake a DrillBot at!

==== PARAGRAPH HEADER 1 ====

CONTENT OF PARAGRAPH

As you have no doubt noticed, a new section has been added to the Camp page called Hunting Tips from Larry. You may remember Larry from the beginning tutorial of the game or perhaps seen him on a few of the help pages. These tips are designed to provide hunters with the "need-to-know" information for each area in the game. Previously, there was no straight-forward way to know essential information, such as the bait to use in special areas, which led to many confused and angry emails and forum posts. We hope Larry will help hunters avoid frustrations like wasting SUPER|brie+ in the Mousoleum.

+
==== PARAGRAPH HEADER 2 ====
+
CONTENT OF PARAGRAPH

Some hunters have also noticed the mice of the S.S. Huntington II carrying a compass and other navigation tools. If a hunter is able to collect all three tools they will be able to assemble a kit that will allow them to safely navigate their boat further into the open ocean. The journey will no doubt be dangerous, but with great risk comes great reward!

+
==== PARAGRAPH HEADER 3 ====
+
CONTENT OF PARAGRAPH

Four traps are now able to be dismantled with your Hunter's Hammer: the Digby DrillBot, Venus Mouse Trap, Harpoon Gun and Net Cannon. If you smash these traps and then decide you want them back, you may reassemble them by entering their parts alone in the crafting menu and pressing "combine items". An exception is the Net Cannon which requires one coil of rope to be used should you wish to reconstruct it.

+
-- {{MHP|POSTER SNUID|POSTER NAME}}

This is by far the largest update we have ever applied to the game and this is only phase one of the new storyline. Due to the massive amount of content, we decided to break up the release into three smaller parts. This update is part one and includes four new areas, 36 new mice, new types of cheese and traps, new crafting combinations and more!

+
----

Look forward to the next two updates, each adding one additional area, along with new cheese, mice, and traps!

This week's feedback video covered five questions we asked players. At the end of the video we also answered three questions asked by players.

You can watch the feedback video here:

http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=107582846253

The three questions we answered at the end of the video were:

====* What do we think about more upgradable traps, much like the obelisks?====

We definitely plan on adding more upgradable traps! You may just find a few sooner than later...

====Would we ever consider a 'Greater Gnarled Cheese Potion'?====

If Whisker Woods was expanded further and a greater need for Gnarled cheese was created then, yes, potentially.

====* Do we plan on making additional use of fan ideas and submissions, like we did with the Hydra Mouse and NVMRC Forcefield?====

Yes. We're always reading the ideas and suggestions forum and love to hear what creative ideas the players come up with.

Once again, thanks goes out to MouseHunter Dane Koster for organizing a list of questions both for us to ask players and for players to ask us!

=== Answers to Frequent Questions ===

''{{date|10|July|2009}}''

At the end of this week's feedback we answered some questions that are frequently asked. Thanks goes out to MouseHunter Dane Koster for organizing this concise list of questions, concerns and curiosities for us to address.

You can watch the feedback Friday video here:

http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=99248164245

====* Radioactive Sludge and Stale SB+====

A use for Radioactive Sludge and stale SUPER|brie+ will be available in the next major update.

====* Missing MouseHunt 1.0 Stats====

Due to the radically different data structure between the old MouseHunt version 1.0 and the current game, old game stats were imported with a 4% margin of error. We apologize for any frustration this may cause. The statistics were imported as best they could with our budget and resources available.

====* Hunting parties====

The party cork board is currently lacking notifications for when a member posts to it. This was an oversight that is planned to be fixed for the next update. We are also adding additional token rewards for parties finishing in fourth to tenth place. These additional token rewards will not be retroactive.

====* Tournaments for specific ranks====

Some tournaments are for mice only available in certain areas which has the same effect. We asked this question during feedback Friday and received some mixed response.

====* Uses for Champion's Chest and Tournament Tokens====

Dev Jeremy is hard at work implementing items for both chests and tokens. The plans for these items include new bases and cheese. We also plan on adding new uses for these items over time.

====* Some traps perceived as useful everywhere====

Some players have expressed concern that some traps such as the Partybot and ACRONYM are useful against nearly all mice in all locations. The power of a Partybot is often exaggerated by those who own one. As stated in the past, luck is the absolute last stat you should worry about when trying to maximize the odds of catching a mouse. The ACRONYM is an incredibly hard trap to acquire and is meant to be an adequate reward of being able to hunt Physical, Shadow and Forgotten type mice. However, as future updates bring more powerful mice you may find that a more powerful Shadow or Physical trap will become more useful than the ACRONYM.

====* Concerns with JavaScript links====

Some of the links on the site rely on JavaScript for functionality. We try our best to usually have a non-JS version of the link that will provide the same functionality with a page load. Providing non-JavaScript support is not the most important priority because Facebook itself is very JavaScript-reliant and only a very small portion of players use outdated browsers with poor support for JavaScript.

====* How we decide on storylines====

What usually happens is one person has a basic idea and if everyone likes the idea it then slowly evolves with the input of the entire team.

=== Tournament Prizes ===

''{{date|22|June|2009}}''

Today marks the release of the much-antipated tournament prizes!

Members of the top 100 teams shall all receive a new unique item called a Tournament Token. This new crafting ingredient will be a multi-purpose ingredient for use in several new and existing recipes. We would love to hear from the community regarding the use of Tournament Tokens in recipes. We have a few ideas of our own but are also looking for fun ideas from MouseHunters! So, put on your thinking caps and swarm to the Ideas & Suggestions forums to have your suggestions heard!

Tokens are awarded to each member of the top 100 teams as follows:

(1st) 5 tokens
(2nd & 3rd) 4 Tokens
(4th - 49th) 2 Tokens
(50th - 100th) 1 Token

In addition, members of the team that finish first will also each receive a "Champion Chest". We would also love to hear from players regarding the contents of this coveted chest!

Prizes will be awarded within 60 minutes of the tournament's end.

We have also added these much asked for tournament features:

Party cork board on the "Organize Party" page
Basic date search function for the Tournament Scoreboard
New streamlined tournament join page
Clearer success and error messages

A big thanks goes out to Dev Jeremy for all his hard work in creating the prize system!

=== FB Credits and Boomerang ===

''{{date|16|June|2009}}''

We're excited to be one of the first three apps chosen by Facebook to implement the credits system!

This new Facebook credit system works by purchasing credits from Facebook and then spending them inside MouseHunt for Super Brie. These credits will soon be able to be used all over Facebook. To get started with Facebook Credits click the blue "Pay now" button on the donate page.

We have also partnered with a new offer system called Boomerang. The system works similarly to those many players have used in the past but with one special difference: The ability to rate and review offers. Help your fellow hunters find the best offers by providing feedback on those you have tried. We hope that Boomerang will make finding the right offer easier than ever!

We hope today's update has helped make SUPER|brie+ accessible to more hunters.

Good luck and happy hunting!

==== The Treasure Map Mega Party has Started! ====
+
A brand new mini-event has just begun in the Kingdom of Gnawnia: the '''Treasure Map Mega Party'''!

Rumors have also spread of a nautical blueprint appearing around the same time as this new mouse. Some general store owners are quite excited to have a chance to sell this blueprint once enough have been discovered in the Lagoon. It's safe to assume that these blueprints will be sold at a general store in the future.

+
For the next '''two weeks''', Treasure Maps can now hold '''TWICE''' as many hunters, up to a maximum of '''10'''!

So if you're up for a challenge and are ready to boldly craft what's never been crafted before travel to the Lagoon and see if you can be one of the first to unlock the mysteries of this new mouse!

+
This applies to all Treasure Maps except Solo Maps and Wanted Posters.

+
So gather twice as many map mates and get the mega party started!

This update features the first ever fan art that has been added to the game. Congratulations to Neilson Cheng! We love the art work.

DeathBot parts are now able to be reconstructed into a DeathBot. Simply enter the parts in the crafting screen and press combine to restore a DeathBot.

If you're still on a map when the event ends, everyone currently on the map remains on it and can finish it! However, new hunters cannot be invited beyond the map's regular size.

==== The Final Relic Hunter Season has Ended ====

'''A new goal for the Relic Hunter Mouse'''

Hello once again hunters!

+

+
After ten seasons, the Relic Hunter Mouse has finally collected enough Ancient Relics from hunters that she can now begin her archaeological research into the true origin of mice in Gnawnia and why they came here.

Over the weekend we were reading through responses and opinions surrounding the time frame of the Lucky Golden Shield. Some hunters wanted different time frames for different donation amounts while others liked the 30 day limit for all donation amounts.

+
She can still be found traveling around the Kingdom each day while she conducts her research but she will no longer steal Ancient Relics from hunters. Now when a Relic Hunter Mouse is caught, hunters can loot Ancient Relics from her, recovering some of what she had stolen over the years.

One concern that we wanted to address was that with the larger donation amounts a player receives more SUPER|brie+ than they will likely consume in a month.

+

'''Relic Hunter Treasure Maps'''

After carefully considering what our community has shared with us through the message boards and in mails we have decided to have the shield last 4 months for a $50 donation, 2 months for a $25 and a single month for all others. We hope these changes allow players to keep their shields for a more realistic time while they use their cheese.

+
The Cartographer at the King's Arms has discovered a stash of Relic Hunter Scroll Cases and is now selling them to adventurous hunters for 10 Ancient Relics each.

We realize we will never be able to please everyone but we feel that this is the solution that the majority of players will be happy with. We are currently making the appropriate changes and plan have shields begin to expire towards the end of this week.

=== Gold Shields begin to expire May 25th ===

''{{date|22|May|2009}}''

Hello MouseHunters!

We wanted to give a few days of notice that Donators' Lucky Golden Shields will begin to expire on Monday, May 25th. On the 25th, if you have donated or completed an offer within the past 30 days your shield will not expire.

'''New Ways to Spend Gilded Coins'''

We waited a few extra days before starting the expiry effect to give everyone some forewarning.

+
Take these Gilded Coins to the King's Arms where you can use them to purchase '''Gilded Trap Skins''', '''Gilded Charms''', or even '''Slayer Scroll Cases'''!

There have been a few concerns surrounding the shield that we would like to address. Some players have suggested different timeframes for different donation amounts, or that the shield should be permanent.

+
==== Reap the Rewards ====

+
The King's own artisans have released a new assortment of Gilded Trap Skins!

The lucky shield is meant to be a "thank you" for any player that is generous enough to keep the game running month to month. As the world of MouseHunt continues to grow everyday so do the costs of supporting the hundreds of thousands of players that play for free each month. Without the generous support of donators each month we would soon have to shut our doors. No matter what you can afford to give we wanted an equal thanks for showing your support and that is what the Golden Shield is meant to represent.

A final thanks to everyone who supports the game and allows us to keep expanding MouseHunt week after week!

On a separate note, this week's Feedback Friday asked the question "What do you like/do not like about giveaways and how can we make them more fun?".

We wanted feedback on one specific idea - a special "Giveaway" mouse that would drop in-game items and be abundant enough to give players a good chance of catching one during a giveaway. The mouse would be similar to the elf mouse or birthday mouse that dropped gift boxes to be opened at a later date.

The feedback was a unanimous "YES!" and so that is exactly what we will be doing for the next giveaway! Expect the usual Mobsters and Leprechauns worth cash and SB+ prizes along with a special giveaway mouse that will drop gift boxes, or some other special item, containing random amounts of in-game items. We will provide more specific details before the next giveaway.

=== Quick Update ===

''{{date|20|May|2009}}''

Hello MouseHunters,

Just a quick update today with regard to Hunting Parties and Tournaments.

After substantial discussion with regard to subbing and all the back and forth with how to deal with it, we have ultimately decided to remove it as a strategy for Hunting with a Party.

Additionally, the mandate and multiplier issues have hopefully all been resolved this time around as well as a few Organize Party interface tweaks.

The question I'm sure you're all asking is what about the PRIZES...
Until we have everything balanced and equitable we're going to hold off on the prizes. But they will come eventually!

Also, three instances of the Zombalicious Tournament will be starting in the next 24 hours.

Good luck and thanks for all of your feedback!

Hello MouseHunters. We would like to thank everyone for their patience today while the game was unavailable for database maintenance. Something came to our attention that would have negative effects on the game if left uncorrected and needed to be addressed sooner rather than later.

Due to the short notice of the significant downtime Glitchpaw mice have been released for the next 24 hours. Good luck capturing your first or adding a few more to your collection!

=== Hunting Party Adjustments ===

''{{date|14|May|2009}}''

Hi MHC,

There was some recent controversy about subbing people in and out of Hunting Parties to inflate the number of possible hunts. In order to level the playing field against parties using this tactic, you will now only be able to invite hunters to your Hunting Party post tournament start if your entire party has been inactive for 15 minutes. Thus, the captain invitation tab will disappear as soon as the first tournament horn is sounded and will only re-appear if no one in the party sounds the horn for 15 minutes.

Also, another tournament has been posted and it's called the Furoma Connection. Check it out!!! Only 10000 gold to enter.

Good luck to everyone in the upcoming Tourney!

The Treasure Map Mega Party has Started!

A brand new mini-event has just begun in the Kingdom of Gnawnia: the Treasure Map Mega Party!

For the next two weeks, Treasure Maps can now hold TWICE as many hunters, up to a maximum of 10!

This applies to all Treasure Maps except Solo Maps and Wanted Posters.

So gather twice as many map mates and get the mega party started!

If you're still on a map when the event ends, everyone currently on the map remains on it and can finish it! However, new hunters cannot be invited beyond the map's regular size.

The Final Relic Hunter Season has Ended

A new goal for the Relic Hunter Mouse

After ten seasons, the Relic Hunter Mouse has finally collected enough Ancient Relics from hunters that she can now begin her archaeological research into the true origin of mice in Gnawnia and why they came here.

She can still be found traveling around the Kingdom each day while she conducts her research but she will no longer steal Ancient Relics from hunters. Now when a Relic Hunter Mouse is caught, hunters can loot Ancient Relics from her, recovering some of what she had stolen over the years.

Relic Hunter Treasure Maps

The Cartographer at the King's Arms has discovered a stash of Relic Hunter Scroll Cases and is now selling them to adventurous hunters for 10 Ancient Relics each.
