Templates for locations
Right now there's no fixed template for the various locations. I'm proposing the following:
1) Location description, including how players gain access to the location. Title: Location Name
2) List of shops available if any. Title: Shops available
3) List of mice that can be found and the possible drops they might have. Title: Mice that roam "location name'
The travel cost link should be moved to the main Locations page to avoid duplicating the links on every location.

- My 'template' for locations can be found here (link in case changes are made to the page) --Peter888 20:03, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Suggestions for additions
It would be nice if someone added a note about the requirements to travel to certain locations, such as needing the Furoma Map Stitch to get into the Pagoda areas. I can do it if no one else gets to it first but I'm kinda busy for the next few days with work and the holidays. -- B.Rossow talkcontr 19:18, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- To this end, I've converted the info into a table with columns for minimum title and other other travel requirements. Please fill these ASAP if you can. Thanks! -- B.Rossow talkcontr 19:34, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- Never mind. Did it myself. :-) -- B.Rossow talkcontr 19:49, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- You're too quick for the rest of us... I just calculated every average travel cost in gold, since it's the primary requirement for travel. I don't think it's too confusing. :P Revengeance 20:29, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the work, but average costs are wildly different from actual costs in many cases. Instead, I revertd your additions and added a link to the travel page where users can see the exact costs (and also access Pooflinger's Travel Planner). Hope this doesn't offend! -- B.Rossow talkcontr 20:49, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- Of course not. Most people probably wouldn't have understood it, anyway. Revengeance 04:08, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- Just went back and removed the duplicate links to Furoma Map Stitch, since it was lost with the revert. Would it make more sense if the locations in the table were in bold and not the regions, considering the table is alphabetized by them and they're the main focus of the article in the first place? Revengeance 08:20, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- IMHO, having a column in bold int he middle of the table would look odd. I wouldn't have a problem with de-bolding the regions, however. I think it's fine as-is, but that's just one guy's opinion. -- B.Rossow talkcontr 16:48, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- Well, we could switch the regions and locations columns around so the locations are first, of course. Revengeance 18:21, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, the regions column would probably have to be the last column, considering its rows would break the information flow. Revengeance 18:23, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
- Now that I would oppose. Messing up the hierarchical order just to be able to bold the locations would be silly. Is there a problem with it as is? Is anyone not going to be able to easily find the location they're looking for? It's a handful of locations, not the New York City phone book. Seems like a solution in need of a problem IMHO. -- B.Rossow talkcontr 18:25, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

- The requirements for travel to Ronza's Traveling Shoppe vary depending on where Ronza lands. The one time when it was in the Burroughs region, only hunters with at least Master title and the Burroughs Laboratory map piece could travel to her location. -- Townsend 19:29, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
I just updated the external link to the map image. It was out of date. --Geneth 23:40, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- For my first project, I would like to add sortable columns for cheese preference to each location. This will help in the selection of cheese for any area. Will copy and paste info from each mouse page, so cheese links are intact. (That will work, won't it?) If mice in a location have more than one preference, will create a chart like on the Acolyte Realm page. This is of course after quite a bit of study for how to do things here.
Ethereal Taleweaver 4 July, 2011
- I like the recent changes on the Acolyte Realm and Great Gnarled Tree locations showing the relationship between cheese choices and which mice are attracted. I think that those are good locations for that type of information. I would be concerned about having too much information on one page if cheese preferences were added to this high level page. -- Ralphminer 02:31, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Catacombs
I don't see why someone reverted my edit for a new location as there is enough evidence for it to be within the Burroughs location:
- We already know the minimum title requirement is Legendary because the Cartographer's description states it.
- If you look at the new mice, they have a population in the Burroughs, something like 'Dwindling' or 'Scarce' instead of 'Hardly Existent' if the location were in another region.
- 52 - Dwindling
- 53 - Scarce
- 54 - Dwindling
- 55 - Scarce
- 56 - Scarce
What else could the Devs be testing if it's not the Catacombs? (yet it requires new mice, a description change for Coal and the Cartgrapher, Arcane, and Forgotten) --Peter888 16:38, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- Why? Because it's not in the game yet. When it is, put it in. Until then, this should be a reference site based on established facts, not conjecture and speculation on "what else could the Devs be testing". As we all know, things could change dramatically between now and the actual release. And really, if it's not in the game then there is absolutely no margin in reporting it here. What purpose does it serve beyond furthering pointless speculation? I just don't get the apparently uncontrollable need for some people (generally speaking, not directed specifically at Peter888) to post unofficial information here just because they can. -- B.Rossow talkcontr 16:44, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
Hunting Strategy
With regards to all the 'Hunting tips by Larry' subsections under 'Hunting Strategy' sections, the flow needs to be adjusted such that all the tips start off the hunting strategy sections, much like how location descriptions start off the location articles. Any further hunting strategy writeups should then expand upon any points mentioned by Larry, and any further strategies not mentioned by Larry should be included after. Let me know if there are any comments about this, if not the changes will be rolled out when I can find the time to do so. Many of the writeups were done before Larry's tips came about, and there might be some duplication or contradictions that need to be addressed. -- Grexx 05:07, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I still haven't had the time to go through the ever increasing number of hunting strategy sections, but I've noticed a disturbing trend in some of the recent writeups. Some editors have worded the hunting strategy sections in a manner that attempts to direct players in a direction the editor thought was best. As discussed a number of times in various parts of the wiki, this is not acceptable due to the many number of variations that are available to players, such that there is no one best option. And of course, the very people who need to read and understand this never do, so it'll be much appreciated if someone can at least vet the phrasing and modify them accordingly, or better yet writing decent hunting strategy sections for the various locations :D (I can wish can't I :p) -- Grexx 14:01, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Festive Comet
Should we add the new seasonal area under Gnawnia? --Shadow 20:09, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
I personally think that, in the long run, it would be better to list the Festive Comet under the "Other" section along with Ronza. I know it is technically located in the Gnawnia region (as Ronza has been in all but one visit), but the Festive Comet is only a temporary location and listing it alongside the permanent places in Gnawnia could cause confusion once the Festive Comet is no longer available. That's the same reason Ronza's under "Other" - you can't always get to her. —MearsMan talk 19:37, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Map Image Help
I have a high quality image of the full map when the Forbidden Grove is open (the current image in this article is of the map before hunters gain access to the King's Gauntlet, while this image is of the map after the Gauntlet has been opened, featuring slightly different artwork on the tower). I'm having some trouble uploading it to an image hosting site, though. The full quality image is 3905 x 2212, but when I upload it the image is compressed to 1599 x 906. Anyone have any ideas on how to get the full quality image on a secondary server? Here's a link to the original image (on the MH server) if someone else wants to try their hand at it. —MearsMan talk 22:20, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and added a link to the current "Forbidden Grove Open" map at the highest resolution at which I could get it to upload. If someone else can get it to upload at a higher resolution we can update the link later. —MearsMan talk 16:36, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- Oh sorry didn't notice the difference. I'll upload the new version. -- camomiletea 02:25, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
