Cost
I propose getting rid of the cost of the cheeses. It's totally arbitrary depending on what areas you have open. Plus it makes thing like reconstituting SB+ and making Maki look as if it is cheap. Also the amount difference between the max and min isn't enough that it matters that greatly. --Delish 23:55, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think the prices hurt anything as long as they're accurate. I added a note to Maki, and reconstituting SB+ is cheap (relative to the cost of the other cheeses). -- B.Rossow talkcontr 00:07, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- But the price of maki depends. It's not cheap if you bought SB+ off the marketplace for 1k per piece. That would mean that your Magic Essence cost 1000 gold. --Delish 00:21, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- It should be ok as is. People aren't going to readily smash their SB+ without knowing the real cost. And if they did, the SB+ formula is essentially a refund option :) The minimum and maximum prices are useful for players who want to plan ahead and know how much gold they need when entering a new area. -- Grexx 16:52, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Attribution
Is anyone going to cry or throw themselves under a train if we get rid of the "discovered by" lines? Perhaps when this info was new it was nice to credit them, but at this point it's absolutely pointless information (IMHO). -- B.Rossow talkcontr 19:54, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- No. It doesn't matter. Also there isn't a way (without dev intervention) of knowing who was the first.--Delish 23:55, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
New Layout for Formulae
Plan to do up a set of tables for the formulae as shown here: User:Grexx/Sandbox#Combat.
Let me know if you have any comments / improvements / violent objections. -- Grexx 20:14, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Conversion completed. Feel free to make any further improvements as needed. -- Grexx 04:35, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- love the new layout can't wait to see it all finished, great job Grexx. Doreito 05:14, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ok I should have converted all formula lines into tables now. Glad you guys like the new format. If anyone is good with colors, do consider shading some of the headers etc appropriately :) -- Grexx 06:05, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Was thinking something along the lines of a universal header color for formulas, similar to brown headers for traps, purple ones for bases. What got me thinking was the dullness of the Formula table in comparison with the other 2 tables in the Dehydration Base Page. -- Grexx 07:08, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
In-game Descriptions
In-game descriptions need italics. Would do it myself but don't have any of the cheese on hand at the moment. -- Grexx 07:14, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Fixed, I think. -- Camomiletea 21:16, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Gumbo & Shell Cheese
Got the info from [forum]. Pus 01:42, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Added in new recipes for Isles cheese based on the announcement from the Devs today. I've confirmed that the 20-piece Gumbo and Shell recipes work, but I don't have enough stones to test the other. WyndStryke 18:32, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- All the formulae work. Maybe next time you could try using the Preview button so others don't have to clean up after you. I'm tired of asking nicely. -- B.Rossow talkcontr 18:37, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- I did preview each one. It looked OK under IE6. What was wrong with it? WyndStryke 18:39, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Havarti
What is the best way to add the new cheeses here without duplicating all the tables? Or is that the only option? --Hyperchao 19:55, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- The tables should probably all be moved here, the redirects corrected to lead here, and Havarti page should become a disambiguation page with links to all the flavours. It just seemed simpler when I started it to prepare all the tables in one place. -- Camomiletea 20:01, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Fixed now. I think. -- Camomiletea 21:16, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Is it just me or do the sections don't have [edit]-links? ...and if so: Is there a reason for this? _____m. 23:49, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- It was a deliberate change. Usually it's done to preserve spacing. I'm not sure if the reasoning is still valid, since the page had many edits since this change... -- Camomiletea 00:04, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
It'd be nice to have a quick reference for all the Havarti cheeses though. I'm sure it'll show up in the cheat sheet page, but maybe it could be included in the Havarti page too? --Hyperchao 02:21, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds great to me! Do it ;) -- Camomiletea 02:35, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- I was hoping someone else could do it. >_< I'm bad at formatting. --Hyperchao 03:48, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- It's done. Pus 04:00, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
I reckon this must be one of the most looked at pages on MHWiki, and it is great, but I think it could be more user friendly if the cheeses were grouped by relation to other cheeses instead of alphabetically. E.g. have Havarti, Gumbo, Crunchy, etc all together. All the Furoma cheeses can go together, and Runic and Ancient together, etc. Anyone agree? Corpowal 00:14, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- Maybe... I imagine sections like Furoma cheese, Bristle Woods cheese, Tribal Isles cheese (the first three locations), Jungle of Dread, and Other. The more I think about it, the more I like it. -- Camomiletea 02:58, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- That's a good idea. As with many of the other pages designed over 4-6 months ago, a lot has changed since. I agree it's time to do some further classification of the article for easier navigation. -- Grexx 14:51, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Peppers, Loot or Crafting?
Also, are peppers really loot? I am more inclined to categorize it under Crafting. --Hyperchao 04:28, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- They're not loot, but they're not really crafted either. --Dreamwalker 05:49, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- Only one step away from being truly crafted. --Hyperchao 09:34, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- True, the pepper plants are kind of a pointless step (just to give us something to look at before the Jungle of Dread was released). Well, maybe not entirely pointless, because the number of peppers you get from them is random, and I don't know if they could have a random crafting result. I suppose Crafting would be better than Loot, but that's about all I can say for it. --Dreamwalker 11:28, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- Crafting is better than Loot. There are other ingredients that aren't quite crafting that we categorize as such, I'm referring to items that are the result of smashing something with a Hunter's Hammer. -- Camomiletea 13:43, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'd definitely consider the process of getting peppers as crafting. I mean, even making maps is considered crafting, so why not making pepper plants and getting peppers from them? I definitely go for classifying the peppers as crafted items. --S18067 14:18, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- You guys are having so much fun on the issue I thought I'd weigh in on the issue. Generally, if an item is dropped directly from a Mouse, it should be classed as loot. In this case, since it is available only from a crafted item, it should be classed under crafting. -- Grexx 14:41, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
