This cheese is the only food which can entice the Chess Master, for its delicate aroma carries the scent... of victory! The Kings of both teams long for a morsel of this cheese, believing it will bring them mastery over the game, but if you can defeat them, the Chess Master himself will challenge you for a piece. Don't leave this cheese out too long, though, or you may find yourself with a stale, mate. |

Using Checkmate Cheese
Locations
- Zugzwang's Tower - using Checkmate Cheese improves the chance a Hunter will encounter the mice needed to fill empty silhouettes in the HUD. For example, if a Hunter needs to attract a Mystic Rook to unlock access to the Mystic Queen, arming Checkmate Cheese will increase the chances of encountering the Mystic Rook.
Mice
- Checkmate Cheese will attract all the mice in Zugzwang's Tower, but is required to attract the Chess Master after either the Mystic King or Technic King is captured.
When doing a double run, the mice attraction pool changes when Checkmate Cheese is armed.
- Upon capturing the first King (either with Checkmate Cheese or with any Standard Cheese with Stalemate Charm):
- If Checkmate Cheese is armed, the mice pool will include the Chess Master, the Rook of the first side done, and whichever mice have been unlocked from the second side.
- If Standard Cheese is armed, the mice pool will include the Pawn of the first side done, and whichever mice have been unlocked from the second side.
