The 2024 Lunar New Year event takes place from 6 to 20 February.

Gameplay Mechanics

Stockpiles

During the event, several locations are designated as lunar stockpiles.

Lantern Lighting

The Hunter can get Dragon Lunar Lantern from the Camp HUD available during the event.
From the same HUD, the Hunter can choose to use Lunar Lantern Candle or Red Lunar Lantern Candle to receive lantern benefits.
One candle is consumed each hunt doing so.

Loot multiplying

The loot that mice drop can be multiplied with the use of candles, with a few exceptions.

Luck bonus

When the lantern is lit, a luck bonus takes effect.

  • The amount of luck depends on lantern height, which is also raised by burning candles:
    • Each Lunar Lantern Candle burned will raise the lantern height by 1 foot.
    • Each Red Lunar Lantern Candle burned will raise the lantern height by 2 feet.
    • For every 10 feet of height, the bonus luck increases by 1.
    • The maximum height is 500 feet, making the maximum luck bonus 50.

Reward Track

Upon reaching certain lantern height milestones, there are rewards available.
The Hunter needs to claim these rewards manually.

You will have until Tuesday, February 27 to claim lantern rewards and make any final Lunar New Year shop purchases.
  • Mechanic overview
Hunt with Dumpling Cheese to attract Event Mice at stockpile locations to earn candles for the Dragon Lantern!
As you burn Lunar Lantern Candles, your Dragon Lantern will lift into the air and gain extra rewards!
  • Loot multiplying
Double or even TRIPLE your loot!
The Dragon Lunar Lantern will boost the loot a captured mouse is carrying! However, there are a few things it can't quite figure out how to duplicate.
It will not duplicate:
  • Dumpling Cheese
  • Nian Gao'da Cheese
  • Red or White Lunar Lantern Candles
  • Map Pieces
  • Treasure Map Clues
  • A mouse's gold or points
  • Items generated by bases, charms, auras or other special effects
  • Certain items with quantity restrictions
  • Library Research Assignment Items
  • Crude Pollutinum
  • Itself
  • Hunters
Attempting to duplicate any of these items could break the laws of space-time itself! The King frowns upon that sort of thing.
Additionally, the Lunar Lantern will not accelerate progress for Bristle Woods Rift Chambers or other areas where mouse loot affects progress.
