Overview
The 2024 Lunar New Year event takes place from 6 to 20 February.
During this event:
- Non-event mice in Stockpile locations can drop Dumpling Cheese.
- Using Dumpling Cheese and Nian Gao'da in those locations can attract Lunar New Year mice that drop Lunar Lantern Candle and Red Lunar Lantern Candle.
- Burning the candles give bonus luck and mouse loot.
Gameplay Mechanics
Stockpiles
During the event, several locations are designated as lunar stockpiles.
- Non-event mice in those locations can drop Dumpling Cheese.
- Using Dumpling Cheese and Nian Gao'da in those locations can attract Lunar New Year mice that drop Lunar Lantern Candle and Red Lunar Lantern Candle.

Lantern Lighting
The Hunter can get Dragon Lunar Lantern from the Camp HUD available during the event.
From the same HUD, the Hunter can choose to use Lunar Lantern Candle or Red Lunar Lantern Candle to receive lantern benefits.
One candle is consumed each hunt doing so.
Loot multiplying
The loot that mice drop can be multiplied with the use of candles, with a few exceptions.
- The multiplier depends on the type of candle used:
- Using Lunar Lantern Candle adds 1 set of loot the mouse drop (thus effectively doubles the loot).
- Using Red Lunar Lantern Candle adds 2 sets of loot the mouse drop (thus effectively triples the loot).
- The exceptions are:
Luck bonus
When the lantern is lit, a luck bonus takes effect.
- The amount of luck depends on lantern height, which is also raised by burning candles:
- Each Lunar Lantern Candle burned will raise the lantern height by 1 foot.
- Each Red Lunar Lantern Candle burned will raise the lantern height by 2 feet.
- For every 10 feet of height, the bonus luck increases by 1.
- The maximum height is 500 feet, making the maximum luck bonus 50.
Reward Track
Upon reaching certain lantern height milestones, there are rewards available.
The Hunter needs to claim these rewards manually.

The Hunter can utilize Lantern Lighting mechanic on that HUD:

- An indicator that shows whether the Hunter is in a stockpile location
- A More Info button that can be clicked to bring out Info Interface

- The Dragon Lunar Lantern will boost the loot a captured mouse is carrying! However, there are a few things it can't quite figure out how to duplicate.

- Nian Gao'da Cheese
- Red or White Lunar Lantern Candles
- Map Pieces
- Treasure Map Clues
- A mouse's gold or points
- Items generated by bases, charms, auras or other special effects
- Certain items with quantity restrictions
- Library Research Assignment Items
- Crude Pollutinum
- Itself
- Hunters
- Attempting to duplicate any of these items could break the laws of space-time itself! The King frowns upon that sort of thing.
- Additionally, the Lunar Lantern will not accelerate progress for Bristle Woods Rift Chambers or other areas where mouse loot affects progress.
- The Hunter's inventory of:
- The list of stockpile locations
- Lunar Stockpiles have popped up all over Gnawnia!
- Hunt in these areas below to find Dumpling Cheese, then equip it to attract Lunar New Year mice!
Mice
During the event, the Hunter can use Dumpling Cheese and Nian Gao'da in stockpile locations to attract event mice.
- Nian Gao'da only attracts event mice.
- Dumpling Cheese attracts both event mice and stockpile location mice.
Event mice
These mice can be attracted in any stockpile location.
- All 12 costumed mice can be attracted with both Dumpling and Nian Gao'da.
- Calligraphy, Dumpling Chef, and Red Envelope are only attracted to Dumpling.
- Red Lunar Lantern Candle is only attracted to Nian Gao'da.
All the event loot is guaranteed.
