Basic editing tips
Is it worth adding (either to, or after, step 3) "if your edit includes, or includes changes to, any wikilinks, please actually test these in your preview by clicking on them"? --Winelight 15:56, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
- Oh yeah that's a good idea. I always do it myself, just never crossed my mind to put that in. It was quite an ad hoc writeup in the first place, based off my own experience at that time. The Editor's Corner can probably do with some further elaboration on some points, so feel free to make any necessary adjustments :) -- Grexx 16:11, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Info for links
Is that really necessary? It will be just time consuming, and it will probably be best if we do it as we go along, editing older pages, making new ones, etc.. Shinnok 08:05, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yup its just a reminder to do it as pages are updated/corrected, doesn't have to be actively tracked down. Very often links are added without an explanation. That's good for players who already know what they are looking for, but doesn't help newer players much since they might not have a clue what it is for. Main purpose is to help everyone make the link between different aspects of the game more easily :) -- Grexx 08:21, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
Cheese Effect

- Thanks for the link. I've seen it once a couple of days back. Its good information but unfortunately not completed yet. Hopefully Paul will be able to fill in more of the blanks in the meantime. -- Grexx 07:23, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
Confirmation
Should I go ahead with editing the pages with versions in my Sandbox? I might also be able to start editing the Mice pages following the Manual of Style entry. It's just not clear to me whether History and Trivia sections should still be kept or not. ---Mikeyco 12:26, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
- Whoops I missed out those sections lol. I'll add them in in a while. They're optional anyways. Most mice don't really have a history, unless you want to include the fact that some of the mice have been here since the game's introduction.
- As for the Locations, I think you can proceed whenever you have the time, since no one else has given feedback on it and it is also an improvement over the current versions. I'd suggest starting from Gnawnia and working your way to Bristle Woods.
- Oh and you don't need to consult me, or anyone for that matter, before starting anything. You'll find that very often not many people have an opinion on a matter, so after a day or two you can just proceed with whatever it is you want to do. Just remember to give some time for feedback on changes that are especially major. -- Grexx 12:51, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Awesome
You're Awesome. That is all. Carry On. --Navarr 20:57, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Mouse Mary in Traps
It doesn't seem to be a case of vandalism. Just a mistake on Peter88's part. It's been there since the tables were added, which is the second edit after the page's creation. It's quite surprising that it was only discovered recently despite the error being there for half a year already. --Mikeyco 20:15, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ok thanks for looking it up. Been quite busy lately so didn't have the time to go through it myself :) -- Grexx 02:41, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Timeline Confirmations
I'm new at this whole editing thing and wanted to have someone confirm that I got Plankrun's Journal Entries on the Dojo. How do I go about doing that? I saw that all of them had been received by different people and confirmed except for the Dojo one. What would I need to do in order to confirm by loot, so that it could be recorded in the timeline? Thanks.
Here's the info I got on the date of the catch.
4:10pm yesterday (March 21st, 2009) I sounded the Hunter’s Horn. I was successful in my hunt! I caught a 6 oz. Monk mouse from the Training Grounds worth 5,245 points and 956 gold.
The mouse also dropped the following loot: 1 plankrun's journal entries on the dojo.
--Jake J. Crenshaw 18:39, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- The Timeline records the first confirmed drop for a new item. However in this case many players have already received that particular journal entry, thus there is not going to be any timeline entry for it since the information was not captured then. Basically, anything other than the first drop is not considered notable to be on the timeline page. Quite frequently in fact, there are no "claimants" to the honor of getting the first drop or catch, so only the general date of release or discovery is noted. -- Grexx 18:59, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Oh. Well, that makes sense. Awesome! Thanks for filling me in, and for doing so quickly. --Jake J. Crenshaw 19:24, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Request for input
I notice you seem pretty actively involved in this wiki, so would you mind voicing your opinion of this idea? It would be much appreciated. Cheers! DaRkAgE7[Talk] 07:43, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Thoughts? Just thought that it would be nice to have some sort of official contribution template. Would appreciate any comments/feedback.

Thanks on the forums
I think you got thanks! -- Camomiletea 23:15, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Elub Shore
The Elub Shore is the best location in the game at present to gain points - this can be seen by comparing mice from the same "series" (e.g. ancient vs. elder vs. grandfather) from the various tribes. You might notice the top 5 or so players spend almost all their time there. -- Pakaran 04:37, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- I see, haven't paid attention to that. In that case the information should belong to the location article (Elub Shore) rather than the location quick reference. This is to keep it streamlined, with any further information readily available a click away. In this case, the click away would be the Elub Shore section header. We'll need to be very careful about adding information into the quick reference to keep it from getting too large, and duplicating too much information from the respective articles. -- Grexx 04:50, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Checking of articles and making adjustments
I'm not completely sure, but I believe most editors don't use IE at all. Browser usage statistics can be found here. However, there are enough users using IE that there is a need to check articles from an IE perspective. My personal edits are all done using Firefox, but I recently realized that certain HTML codes used don't show up correctly in IE. I will appreciate any assistance I can get on comparing the Firefox edits and seeing how it shows up on IE. If not I will be unlikely to check and fix any coding under IE, as my priority right now is to get the major articles in order. I have put up a request to help with this under MHWiki:Articles needing attention. -- Grexx 17:01, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Capitalization
Hi, I just noticed in an edit that you used capitals for the types of mice and weapons. Is there a reason for this which eludes me or was there a decision made by the Wiki editors? I personally changed quite some of those words in the effectiveness sections on the weapon pages to lower case since that looked to be right to me.... Thanks for your input, ____m. 21:07, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
- Honestly, I'm doing it with about the same logic as you, it just looked right to me lol. I suppose you were referring to this edit. If you have already standardized most of the other similar articles/sections to small letters then we'll just stick to that. I'm not an expert in this so no need to spend time on this :) -- Grexx 09:06, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Re: Christmas Special
Special indeed; it was not much, and it's all for the communi-tay. There was a big hoo-ha on the forums about it though. Friend req on fb sent, merry Christmas to you too! :)
Your image links
A lots of the images that you updated for the mice page I found were of 684x1024 resolution. Just saying that you should be more careful, the communitay is OCD when it comes to image resolutions! Victor.Song 02:42, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, didn't realize that photobucket auto trimmed the images. Thanks for noticing the difference. They were actually downloaded and re-uploaded from Brossow's updates, which were of the correct dimensions and resolution but of the wrong file extension (.jpg and not .png for .png files). However your edit remarks about replacement with a high resolution image is incorrect. You have replaced the images with lower resolution images of .jpg quality, but of the correct dimensions. That being the case, when I can find the time I'll go check up the old edits and put back in the old links of higher quality. -- Grexx 07:18, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- But I copied them directly from the MH server without ever editing them, how can that be low-res? (EDIT: I checked the MD5 for some files on imgur and MH server, they match up) But I did notice the the image links on the server has a &ver=2 stuck at the end of the URL, is the problem that you wanted hi-res imgs of version 1?Victor.Song 19:06, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- HitGrab tuned down the resolution of the Mouse images from .png (over 300kb on average) to .jpg (about 50kb on average) to cut down on the server load. Some of us actually discussed it a while back whether to switch to the new .jpg images for all mice or to keep whatever best image we can, and we settled on the highest resolution we can preserve. Visually there's no difference for most people though. I had to magnify it to about 10x before there was a visible quality difference. I'm not sure if we can still access the .png images through any MH links though. Not particularly urgent either, since the images are always available, just of different quality not obvious to the majority of players. Anyways it's not like they can complain either :D -- Grexx 19:22, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
