Overview
Treasure Map is a gameplay mechanic, in which a group of Hunters have a list of targeted mice or items to catch or loot.
Treasure Hunting consists of these steps:
- Step 1: open a Scroll Case
- Step 2a: invite more Hunters to join the map
- Step 2b: catch mice or loot items in the map
- Step 3: claim a Treasure Chest
Step 2a and 2b don't need to be done in any order.
Map type
There a 3 types of Treasure Map that the Hunter can work on at the same time:
Treasure Hunting
To work on a Treasure Map, the Hunter first needs to join one by either:
- Opening a Scroll Case
- Accept the map invite
In a Treasure Map, a designated Hunter has the map ownership.
- This is by default granted to the Hunter who opens the Scroll Case, but can be transferred to any other Hunter in the map.
- If the Hunter with ownership leaves the map, the ownership is automatically transfer to a random remaining Hunter.
Each map has a list of mice (or a list of items if the map is a Scavenger Hunt).
- Each time the Hunter catch a mouse on the list, that mouse drops a Treasure Map Clue and it gets marked as caught (and no longer drop map clue after that). Each time the Hunter loot an item on the list, the mouse drops a Scavenger Hunt Hint and it gets marked as looted (and no longer drop hunt hint after that).
- Once all the mice (or items) are cleared, the map is marked as completed.
- Each Hunter in the map can claim a Treasure Chest.
- It can either be a Common Chest or a Rare Chest depending on whether the map is a Rare map. Rare chests contain better rewards.
- Invites cannot be sent once the map is completed.
- Each Hunter in the map can claim a Treasure Chest.
Each map is a Common map by default. Using a Rare Map Dust on the map makes it a Rare map.
- This can be done by any Hunter in the map.

Consolation Mode
Rainbow Treasure Maps and Event Treasure Maps introduced after the beginning of Relic Hunter Season 3 may be cashed out before completion when the map owner chooses to activate Consolation Mode.
Activating Consolation Mode rewards the map owner with a consolation prize based on the completion level of the map. Hunters remaining on the map may then choose to also accept the consolation reward or attempt to complete the map and earn the treasure chest.
Rare Map Dust will not be returned, but dusted maps that are cashed out will have higher consolation rewards.
Invites to the map can no longer be sent or accepted once the map is in Consolation Mode.

Treasure Maps
Non-event Treasure Maps
These maps require catching non-event mice.
Area-specific Treasure Maps
These maps are found in Scroll Cases obtained from Cartographers in exchange for Ancient Relics.
Each of these maps requires hunting mice available in a specific set of locations.
Other non-event Treasure Maps
Each of these maps requires hunting non-event mice across multiple locations.
Event Treasure Maps
These maps require catching Event Mice.
Most of them are available for all ranks.
Redeemable Event Treasure Maps
After the start of Season 3, all new event maps can be redeemed if they remain unfinished at the end of the event.
Redemption will reward all participants with gold, points, and other items, based on how much progress has been made on completing the map.
Redemption will not return Rare Map Dust to the Hunter who upgraded the map but will increase the consolation rewards.
Hunters must have found at least one mouse on the map to be able to redeem it.
Only the Map Captain may activate the Consolation Mode, which will prevent any invites from being sent or claimed.
Each remaining Hunter will be able to choose between claiming the consolation reward or attempting to complete the map and receive the reward chest.
Irredeemable Event Treasure Maps
These maps cannot be redeemed if incomplete after an event ends.
Wanted Posters
These maps require hunting mice in Claw Shot City.
