Effectiveness refers to the bonus (or penalty) when using a Trap against Mice of different Power Types. It is believed to be a modifier applied on the Power or Luck values of a Trap, or possibly both.

Players should avoid hunting at a location where their current traps will be less effective against most of the mice there, such as the Mousoleum without a Shadow/Arcane trap, or the Furoma region without a Tactical trap.

Effectiveness Levels

A Trap can have 1 of 3 possible effectiveness levels against a mouse:

Very Effective
A very effective message implies that there was a bonus to the trap power/luck in catching the mouse. No message is shown if the catch result was a miss.
Normal Effectiveness
No additional message is shown for a normal catch. This implies that no modifier has been applied to the current trap power/luck in catching the mouse, and is the most commonly encountered effectiveness level. No message is shown if the catch result was a miss.
Less Effective
A less effective message will appear when there is a penalty to the trap power/luck in attracting a mouse and the catch result was a miss. This usually indicates that the wrong trap type is being used for the current location. No message is shown if it was a successful catch.
  • Note that trap effectiveness has no bearing on the Attraction Rate of a trap and the type of mice attracted, which is dependent on the baited cheese.

Effectiveness Chart

This following chart lists the effectiveness of the 4 existing Trap Power Types against the different breeds of mice. There are some exceptions to the chart, and these have been noted under the exceptions section.

Exceptions

  • Ninja mice have been noted to be resistant to Physical Traps in the Dojo.
  • Physical traps have been noted to be of normal effectiveness against most Tactical mice in the Training Grounds, except against the Assassin Mouse.
  • Physical traps are of normal effectiveness against Tactical mice in the Calm Clearing.

History of Changes

  • When Arcane traps were first released, it was tested and found to be of Normal Effectiveness against the Master of the Dojo, a Tactical type mouse. However, shortly before the release of the ACRONYM, it was found to have changed to be Less Effective.
