A huge tower looms in the distance, stretching beyond the visible skyline. Completely isolated with no signs of entry except for a lone, translucent portal. Contained inside are extremely powerful mice, versed in the arts of clockwork time manipulation looking to find a way out!

Overview

The Bristle Woods Rift is located in the Rift Plane region requiring a minimum rank of Grand Duke/Duchess and the Rift Detector to enter.
The Rift Detector can be purchased at the Living Garden Cartographer for 120,000 gold and 5 Dol Essences.
Leaving the Acolyte Chamber or any other chamber will not reset a Hunter's progress.

Chambers

There are total 12 Chambers in addition to Acolyte Chamber. When Hunters first enter the Bristle Woods Rift or when they return after capturing an Absolute Acolyte, they encounter the Entrance. They are also presented a single Portal for Gearworks chamber. Hunters can choose to hunt at the Entrance or enter Gearworks. Entering Gearworks will start the progress towards catching Absolute Acolyte.

Hunters collect loot from the mice to empty Chambers and progress through the location. Once the loot meter reaches zero, three Portals open up. However, if the hunter has completed Ingress Chamber, four Portals will open. New set of Portals can be opened early by catching Chamber Cleaver mouse, which is preset in certain chambers after a certain amount of loot has been looted. When the Chamber Cleaver is available to catch, a small mouse figure appears in the top-right corner of the loot meter in the HUD.

Loot

Items affected by Quantum Quartz will duplicate an extra piece of that loot. This loot will also deplete the loot of a chamber, counting toward completing the chamber.
Items unaffected by Quantum Quartz or not directly dropped from mice (such as Enerchi generated from using Enerchi Charm or Super Enerchi Charm and bonus Calcified Rift Mist from using Rift Super Vacuum Charm or Christmas Crystalabra Trap) will not be duplicated and will not count toward completing the chamber.

If Hunters use Rift Vacuum Charm or Rift Super Vacuum Charm, Calcified Rift Mist may be dropped as loot. This loot is affected by Quantum Quartz and will also deplete the loot of a chamber, counting toward completing the chamber.

Time Sand will not drop as loot until Hunters have acquired the Ancient Hourglass from the Chronomaster in the Timewarp Chamber.

The loot dropped by the mouse depends on the chamber in which it is captured.

Entrance

Hunters encounter the Entrance when first arriving in the Bristle Woods Rift and when returned there after capturing an Absolute Acolyte in the Acolyte Chamber.

Hunters are presented with a single Portal and entering it will transport them to a Gearworks chamber.

Mice

Because Hunters are moved to the Entrance upon capturing an Absolute Acolyte, Runic String Cheese will attract all mice here, but its use (and the use of Ancient String Cheese) is not recommended since it has necessary special attraction effects in other Chambers.

Gearworks

The Gearworks is the first chamber that Hunters will encounter when selecting the single Portal available at the Entrance. This chamber will also appear randomly as Hunters attempt to locate the Acolyte Chamber. Mice here will mainly drop Tiny Sprockets as loot.

There are a total of 25 pieces of Rift loot available from mice in the Gearworks. Every Rift item dropped as loot by the mice in the Gearworks will reduce the loot meter. When the loot meter reaches zero a new selection of Portals will become available and mice will stop dropping Rift items as loot.

Mice

Capturing a Chamber Cleaver will open a new set of Portals, allowing Hunters to leave the Gearworks before depleting the available Rift loot. Other mice will continue to drop Rift items until the loot meter is reduced to zero.

  • At 21-25 loot: The Chamber is too cramped for the Chamber Cleaver Mouse to come around.
  • At 20 and fewer loot: The Chamber Cleaver Mouse is available to catch with Runic String Cheese!

Timewarp Chamber

The mice found in the Timewarp Chamber are the main source of Time Sand which can only be found after acquiring an Ancient Hourglass from the Chronomaster.

Once the Ancient Hourglass has been obtained, mice in all Chambers may drop small amounts of Time Sand, which is necessary for hunting in the Acolyte Chamber.

There are a total of 30 pieces of Rift loot available from mice in the Timewarp Chamber. Every Rift item dropped as loot by the mice in the Timewarp Chamber will reduce the loot meter. When the loot meter reaches zero a new selection of Portals will become available and mice will stop dropping Rift items as loot.

Mice

Hunters must arm Runic String Cheese in order to capture the Chronomaster Mouse and obtain the Ancient Hourglass. Mice will begin dropping Time Sand once Hunters have obtained the Ancient Hourglass.

Unlucky Alarm Curse

This curse will remove the trap luck from the Hunter's weapon and base.
The alarm in the Guard Barracks will be triggered if Hunters make six hunts (successful or not) without capturing a Portal Paladin Mouse. Until the alarm reaches the sixth level and is triggered, a capture of the Portal Paladin Mouse will reset it to zero. Once the alarm has been triggered, it cannot be reset to zero except by completing a Security Chamber.
Arming Runic String Cheese increases the attraction rate of Portal Paladins, making it easier to reset the alarm when needed.

Removing the Unlucky Alarm Curse

If Hunters fail to block the Unlucky Alarm Curse in the Guard Barracks, a portal for the Security Chamber may appear.
Completing this chamber will remove the Unlucky Alarm Curse.

Acolyte Chamber

This chamber contains the Absolute Acolyte. Hunters must have Time Sand in their inventory before this chamber will appear. The chamber will appear more frequently with higher inventories of Time Sand.

Hunters must charge the Timesplit Obelisk by capturing mice. The Timesplit Obelisk gains +1% charge for each piece of Rift loot dropped in the chamber. This includes any bonus Rift loot from using Quantum Quartz and Rift loot directly dropped from mouse from using any Rift Charms. Each hunt (including Failure to Attract and Failure to Catch) consumes 1 Time Sand from the Hunter's inventory and adds one Time Sand to the Absolute Acolyte's inventory.
When the Timesplit Obelisk reaches a 100% charge the Absolute Acolyte will stop accumulating Time Sand and is released but cannot be captured. Each hunt (including Failure to Attract and Failure to Catch) will still consume 1 Time Sand from the Hunter while each catch will consume 1 Time Sand from the Absolute Acolyte.
When the Absolute Acolyte's Time Sand reaches zero it can be captured. Upon capturing an Absolute Acolyte, hunters are transported to the Entrance.
If the Hunter's Time Sand reaches zero, they will be removed to a Gearworks. Hunters must then gather more Time Sand before they will be able to find and enter this chamber. The following journal entry is generated:

I ran out of Acolyte Sand!
Time collapsed and I found myself back inside of the Gearworks.
It seems that my Quantum Pocketwatch was magically disabled.

Hunter can retreat from Acolyte Chamber by clicking the Retreat button. Timesplit Obelisk charge and Time Sand from the Hunter and the Absolute Acolyte are kept. Hunter will be removed to a Gearworks and have to find another Acolyte Chamber to return.

Mice

The mice found in these chambers are attracted only to Runic String Cheese.

Hunting Strategy

Adventure Book

Hunters can complete the Capture the Absolute Acolyte adventure in the Bristle Woods Rift.

Hunting Tips by Larry

The tower consists of an array of chambers separated by impenetrable walls. The only way to move throughout the tower is to pass through the various portals that present themselves within the chambers.

Each chamber is filled with precious loot that the mice themselves are trying to collect in order to fashion a way of escape. Once a chamber has been emptied of its loot, look for a portal to be opened by the mice looking to escape into another more prosperous room.

You will need to find the Ancient Lab and Runic Laboratory chambers to obtain powerful potions that can be used to turn your String Cheese into a more preferred flavour to attract the obscure and powerful mice within the many special chambers of this Rift.

Once you have accumulated some Runic String Cheese, you can attempt to enter the Timewarp Chamber and acquire an Ancient Hourglass. Once obtained, you can then collect valuable Time Sand which will allow you to find the Acolyte Chamber and challenge the fearsome mouse itself.

There is also a plethora of special chambers that offer difficult challenges and unique abilities as well as powerful curses that will hinder your progress. Many great treasures await, so good luck and happy hunting!

Just... try not to lose too much time...
