+ | :"My XXX Charm funneled the rage of this mouse into the XXX, increasing the rage by X!<br>
+ | The faction-specific charms can be crafted with loot dropped by any of the mice (although the loot is more common with the harder mice); the loot and charms can also be traded at the Marketplace.

+ | :I defeated the Monstrous Black Widow Mouse!<br>
+ | :A hush falls over the Whisker Woods Rift as the mice cower in awe at your astonishing accomplishment...
− | + | A Taunting Charm can be used to maintain high rage levels even after catching a mini-boss or the Monstrous Black Widow, with this message:
+ | :I defeated the XXX Mouse!<br>
+ | :But the other mice are not affected by his/her defeat. My Taunting Charm riles up the mice, keeping them enraged!<br>

+ | The Heads-Up Display shows the current rage level of each faction (blue for 0-24, yellow for 25-49, red for 50), along with a graphic of the mice attracted from the faction at that level; hovering over the rage meter shows the current count of cheese ingredients obtained from that faction's mini-boss. Below the rage meter is a display of the current quantity of faction charms, with a button to arm the charm. Hovering over the charm shows the recipe for crafting the charm, with a count of inventory obtained towards that purpose, and with a button to perform the crafting.

+ | ==Factions== | ||
+ | The mice in the Whisker Woods Rift are separated into 3 Factions and two additional mice that are unaffiliated with any faction:
+ | *Crazed Clearing | ||
+ | *Gigantic Gnarled Tree
+ | *Deep Lagoon | ||
+ | |||
+ | The mice available to catch depend upon the level of Rage the Hunter has produced by capturing mice. Mice from each faction will always be available to catch, but as rage for a faction grows the available mice from that faction will change.
− | + | The rage level of one faction has no effect on which mice can be attracted from the other two factions.
− | |||
− | {| border="1" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0" style="margin:0 20px; font-size:90%; text-align:center; border-collapse:collapse;" class=" | + | Example: |
+ | :When first entering the Whisker Woods Rift the rage for all three factions is zero and Hunters can encounter the mice found in the 0-24 Rage column (see Mice tables below) of each faction.
+ | :However, when the rage for one faction reaches 25, Hunters will encounter mice from the 25-49 Rage column for that faction, but continue to encounter mice from the 0-24 Rage column for the other two factions.
+ | |||
+ | ===Unaffiliated Mice===
+ | The Gilded Leaf Mouse can be encountered at all rage levels, but is only attracted to Magical String Cheese. When captured, it provides 6 total rage that is divided evenly between the three factions (2 rage each) unless rage channeling charms (Cherry, Gnarled, and Stagnant Charm).are being used.
+ | |||
+ | The Monstrous Black Widow Mouse can only be encountered when the rage for all three factions is 25 or greater, but it is only attracted to Lactrodectus Lancashire. When capturred, the rage for all three factions is reset to zero unless Taunting Charms are armed.
+ | |||
+ | == Crazed Clearing Mice ==
+ | Hunters must capture these mice to increase the rage level of the Crazed Clearing faction.<br/>
+ | When Crazed Clearing rage increases to 25, the selection of mice available changes.<br/>
+ | When Crazed Clearing rage reaches 50, the Cyclops Barbarian is released.<br/>
+ | Capturing the Cyclops Barbarian will reset the rage level of all three factions to zero.<br/>
+ | Capturing the Cyclops Barbarian with a Taunting Charm armed will prevent the rage level from resetting to zero.
+ | |||
+ | The rage levels of the Great Gnarled Tree and Deep Lagoon factions have no effect on the attraction of mice in the Crazed Clearing faction.
+ | |||
+ | ===Cherry Charms=== | ||
+ | Arming Cherry Charms will cause the rage of all mice, regardless of faction, to be channeled to the Crazed Clearing.<br/>
+ | Cherry Charms are required to attract the Cherry Sprite Mouse.
+ | |||
+ | Rage from Crazed Clearing mice will be channeled to the Deep Lagoon faction when Stagnant Charms are armed and to the Gigantic Gnarled Tree when Gnarled Charms are armed.

Description and Requirements
Overview
The Whisker Woods Rift is a location in the Rift Plane region requiring a minimum rank of Duke/Duchess and the Rift Detector to enter.
The main gameplay for this area consists in generating Rage levels among the mice, to attract better mice.
There are three factions of mice in the area: Crazed Clearing, Gigantic Gnarled Tree, and Deep Lagoon.
Each faction has 8 mice:
- 3 that are attracted when the rage level for their faction is between 0 and 24 (each catch raises the rage level by 1)
- 3 that are attracted for rage levels of 25 through 49 (each catch raises the rage level by 2, unless it would go past 50)
- 1 mini-boss that is only attracted when the rage has reached 50
- 1 mouse that is only attracted when the correct charm is armed regardless of current rage level (raises the rage level by up to 6, unless it would go past 50)
Catching a mouse leaves a message in the Hunter's Journal:
- The rage in the XXX increased by X!
Catching a Gilded Leaf mouse (attracted only to Magical String) raises the rage level of all three factions by 2 each, with this message:
- Catching the Gilded Leaf Mouse enraged all mice!
- The mice of all three areas were enraged by 2!
If a faction-specific charm is used, the increase in rage will go to the charm's faction rather than the faction of the caught mouse, altering the message as follows:
- "My XXX Charm funneled the rage of this mouse into the XXX, increasing the rage by X!
The faction-specific charms can be crafted with loot dropped by any of the mice (although the loot is more common with the harder mice); the loot and charms can also be traded at the Marketplace.
Hitting 25 rage leaves a message specific to the faction:
- Crazed Clearing
- The mice of the Crazed Clearing are getting angry!
- More dangerous mice have come out to fight!
- Gigantic Gnarled Tree
- My continued presence has angered the mice of the Gigantic Gnarled Tree!
- More dangerous mice have descended from the branches above!
- Deep Lagoon
- I am angering the mice of the Deep Lagoon!
- More dangerous mice have surfaced!
Hitting 50 rage leaves a message specific to the faction:
- Crazed Clearing
- The angry mice have summoned the Cyclops Barbarian Mouse to settle the score!
- I must catch this mouse in order to calm all the mice in the Whisker Woods Rift.
- Gigantic Gnarled Tree
- Snarling with rage, the Centaur Ranger Mouse bursts out of a hole in a nearby tree!
- I must catch this mouse in order to calm all the mice in the Whisker Woods Rift.
- Deep Lagoon
- The Tri-dra Mouse emerges from the surface of the lagoon, snapping at me in fury!
- I must catch this mouse in order to calm all the mice in the Whisker Woods Rift.
When catching a mini-boss, the rage levels of all three factions are reset to 0, with a message specific to the faction:
- Crazed Clearing
- I defeated the Cyclops Barbarian Mouse!
- Shocked and afraid, the other mice retreat in fear.
- Gigantic Gnarled Tree
- I defeated the Centaur Ranger Mouse!
- Suddenly disorganized and frazzled, the other mice retreat in a mad dash.
- Deep Lagoon
- I defeated the Tri-dra Mouse!
- Intimidated by his defeat, the other mice shrink back into hiding.
Each mini-boss drops a crafting ingredient required for Lactrodectus Lancashire cheese.
Trying to use this cheese before all factions are enraged gives a warning message that the cheese is not effective:
- The Rift seems too peaceful to attract the attention of the Monstrous Black Widow Mouse!
- Until all the areas are crying out in fury, I should save my Lactrodectus Lancashire Cheese!
Once the rage of all three factions are at least 25, the Monstrous Black Widow can be attracted with the Lactrodectus Lancashire cheese.
The chances for attracting her are higher with higher rage levels.
Catching her rewards the Hunter with a variety of loot depending on the number of factions at 50 rage; see the mouse page for more details.
Catching her resets the rage levels of all three factions to 0, with this message:
- I defeated the Monstrous Black Widow Mouse!
- A hush falls over the Whisker Woods Rift as the mice cower in awe at your astonishing accomplishment...
A Taunting Charm can be used to maintain high rage levels even after catching a mini-boss or the Monstrous Black Widow, with this message:
- I defeated the XXX Mouse!
- But the other mice are not affected by his/her defeat. My Taunting Charm riles up the mice, keeping them enraged!
- I can attempt to hunt down the XXX Mouse once again!
Heads-Up Display
The Heads-Up Display shows the current rage level of each faction (blue for 0-24, yellow for 25-49, red for 50), along with a graphic of the mice attracted from the faction at that level; hovering over the rage meter shows the current count of cheese ingredients obtained from that faction's mini-boss. Below the rage meter is a display of the current quantity of faction charms, with a button to arm the charm. Hovering over the charm shows the recipe for crafting the charm, with a count of inventory obtained towards that purpose, and with a button to perform the crafting.

Factions
The mice in the Whisker Woods Rift are separated into 3 Factions and two additional mice that are unaffiliated with any faction:
- Crazed Clearing
- Gigantic Gnarled Tree
- Deep Lagoon
The mice available to catch depend upon the level of Rage the Hunter has produced by capturing mice. Mice from each faction will always be available to catch, but as rage for a faction grows the available mice from that faction will change.
The rage level of one faction has no effect on which mice can be attracted from the other two factions.
Example:
- When first entering the Whisker Woods Rift the rage for all three factions is zero and Hunters can encounter the mice found in the 0-24 Rage column (see Mice tables below) of each faction.
- However, when the rage for one faction reaches 25, Hunters will encounter mice from the 25-49 Rage column for that faction, but continue to encounter mice from the 0-24 Rage column for the other two factions.
Unaffiliated Mice
The Gilded Leaf Mouse can be encountered at all rage levels, but is only attracted to Magical String Cheese. When captured, it provides 6 total rage that is divided evenly between the three factions (2 rage each) unless rage channeling charms (Cherry, Gnarled, and Stagnant Charm).are being used.
The Monstrous Black Widow Mouse can only be encountered when the rage for all three factions is 25 or greater, but it is only attracted to Lactrodectus Lancashire. When capturred, the rage for all three factions is reset to zero unless Taunting Charms are armed.
Crazed Clearing Mice
Hunters must capture these mice to increase the rage level of the Crazed Clearing faction.
When Crazed Clearing rage increases to 25, the selection of mice available changes.
When Crazed Clearing rage reaches 50, the Cyclops Barbarian is released.
Capturing the Cyclops Barbarian will reset the rage level of all three factions to zero.
Capturing the Cyclops Barbarian with a Taunting Charm armed will prevent the rage level from resetting to zero.
The rage levels of the Great Gnarled Tree and Deep Lagoon factions have no effect on the attraction of mice in the Crazed Clearing faction.
Cherry Charms
Arming Cherry Charms will cause the rage of all mice, regardless of faction, to be channeled to the Crazed Clearing.
Cherry Charms are required to attract the Cherry Sprite Mouse.
Rage from Crazed Clearing mice will be channeled to the Deep Lagoon faction when Stagnant Charms are armed and to the Gigantic Gnarled Tree when Gnarled Charms are armed.

Deep Lagoon Mice
Hunters must capture these mice to increase the rage level of the Deep Lagoon faction.
When Deep Lagoon rage increases to 25, the selection of mice available changes.
When Deep Lagoon rage reaches 50, the Tri-dra is released.
Capturing the Tri-dra will reset the rage level of all three factions to zero.
Capturing the Tri-dra with a Taunting Charm armed will prevent the rage level from resetting to zero.
The rage levels of the Crazed Clearing and Gigantic Gnarled Tree factions have no effect on the attraction of mice in the Deep Lagoon faction.
Stagnant Charms
Arming Stagnant Charms will cause the rage of all mice, regardless of faction, to be channeled to the Deep Lagoon.
Stagnant Charms are required to attract the Grizzled Silth Mouse.
Rage from Deep Lagoon mice will be channeled to the Crazed Clearing when Cherry Charms are armed and to the Gigantic Gnarled Tree when Gnarled Charms are armed.

Hunting tips by Larry
Just listen to all that noise!
Three distinct groups of mice live in this area, and they're always arguing amongst themselves! Amidst the madness, the Monstrous Black Widow Mouse makes this her home, so if you want to catch her, you'll have to brave the shouting and get sucked in!
As you catch mice from a group in this area, it will enrage mice from that group more and more. As the rage in each group rises, some mice will squeak "I'm telling!" and run to go get larger mice from their group to stand in for them!
The only way to stop this madness is to push a group to the limit, drawing out their biggest, baddest challenger.
Defeat this raging monster, and all of the awestruck mice in the area will run away in fear, forgetting their rage for a while...
You'll also be rewarded with valuable crafting ingredients for your efforts. Keep them safe! You'll need them to lure out the elusive Monstrous Black Widow Mouse!
Sound tricky? It is! Here's a tip: Visit your Crafting Recipe Book and you'll find formulas useful in figuring out which buttons to push. When you have the right cheese and all the mice are angry, she is bound to show up!
Hunt well and hunt bravely! The mice might look really scary, and they really are, but don't be afraid! The worst you can do is get them angry and riled up, right?
