Hunting Strategy

Traveling to the Town of Gnawnia is free from any location. It is generally considered a good idea to purchase cheese in bulk at the local Cheese Shoppe because it is cheaper than at all other locations. The hunter has several Trap Setup Options for the Town of Gnawnia. Some hunters might choose to hunt here rather than the Meadow for the chance of meeting some rarer mice such as the Burglar, Nibbler, or Zombie.

Some hunters have also been known return from the Harbour and Mountain, looking for some respite from the thieving mice and dreaded 'red boxes'. Almost any trap will be effective here as the majority of the mice are physical and are quite weak.

Cheese Usage

All standard cheese types can be used in this location. It is recommended that Novices start out with either Cheddar or Marble, and stay away from Swiss or Brie due to the low power of their traps, and using either of the cheese will very likely result in a net gold loss.

More experienced hunters might consider White Cheddar so as to keep the colored mice away from their traps. Hunters who prefer a better attraction rate can use either Marble, Swiss, or Brie. However, Brie is not recommended due to the fact that the colored mice run rampant in the town, thus lowering overall profits as catching a colored mouse with Brie results in a net gold loss.

Hunters can also consider using SUPER|brie+ in order to attract the Nibbler and Black Widow mice. Patience is needed however, as they are seldom encountered even with the magical SUPER|brie+.

Hunting tips by Larry

Welcome to the Town of Gnawnia! The King is looking for brave hunters to help with the mouse infestation. Every fifteen minutes, you will be able to click the Hunter's Horn at the top of the page and start a hunt! You can see the results of your hunts in your journal located to the right.

This town has two shops. The first is the Cheese Shoppe where you can buy bait for your trap. The second is the Trapsmith where you can buy new parts for your trap.

If you are just starting out, be sure to carefully budget how much you spend on cheese based on how much gold you are earning from catching mice. Using expensive cheese, like Brie, to catch small mice worth few gold is not a good strategy! Remember: the type of cheese you use only effects how often you attract a mouse, it does not effect the odds of catching the mouse.

When you reach the title of Apprentice, you may want to try hunting in the Harbour. Visit the Travel page to access your map and travel to other hunting grounds.

Good luck, brave MouseHunter!
