MHWiki:Manual of Style - Charms
Adding New Charms to the Wiki
- New Charms need their own page. See the layout below.
- Create a Redirect for the charm using its name without the word "Charm", if necessary.
- Add the charm to any disambiguations or related pages that may be appropriate. Create a new page, if necessary. Examples of groups:
- Add the new charm and its stats to the Charms page.
- Any information about the charm that is likely to become stale ("most powerful", "strongest", etc.) should either be placed in the History and Trivia section or avoided completely.
Charm Page Layout
The Charm pages are as laid out below. This can also be used as the basic structure in creating a new Charm page. Note that the sections should always be laid out in the order in which they are shown below, which is in the order of importance that most players will consider the information.
Bold the charm name wherever it appears on the page to help guide the user's eye to relevant info. Follow the bolding and capitalization conventions outlined in the included examples to help provide a consistent look and feel to the various base pages.
Only a few charms need an opening description. Example: Charms in the Riftwalker Set Include a line about the most recent update for event charms. Example: Note if the charm is Limited Edition. Example: Follow that info with the Charm Template.
Obtained ViaThis section should always be included. There are a few possibilities in this section:
Potion Conversion
Horsepower Potions were dropped by Lunar New Year event mice when Nitropop Charms were armed, but only during the Year of the Horse Festival. A Hunter's stock of Horsepower Potions can be converted to Horsepower Charms at any time, regardless of whether a Lunar New Year event is in progress.
Formula
Any additional notes about the formula should come here. Riftwalker SetThis section should be included for any charm that is part of the Riftwalker Set. The Riftwalker Set is a three-item set. Arming multiple items of this set will give additional bonuses; with two items, the bonus is a 10% Power Bonus, with three items, the bonus also adds 5 Luck. Set BonusesRequired: Rift Base, Weapon, and Charm
Set Bonus (3 pieces):
Location-Specific EffectsThis section is optional, but should be included if the charm affects gameplay in a specific area. For example:
This section can be titled Special Effects if the effect is not specific to a location (for example, the Eggscavator Charge Charm works anywhere). Hunter's HammerThis section is optional, but should be included if the charm is smashable. For example, Smashing an Eggscavator Charge Charm with the Hunter's Hammer yields 5 Dark Chocolate Charms. Related ItemsThe section can be retitled if the Charm only has associations with one of the three trap components. Omit the sub-section labels when this is the case. CharmsThis section is optional, but can be included if other charms are closely associated with this charm. Example, the Winter Charm lists other charms also used during the Great Winter Hunt:
Link to Charm group pages if available. Example:
