Overview

The Forbidden Grove is a location in the Bristle Woods region requiring a minimum rank of Legendary and the Keeper's Candle to enter. Every so often, the gates to the Forbidden Grove will alternate from open to closed. When the gates are closed, there are Realm Ripper mice in the Forbidden Grove and upon capturing this mouse hunters will be transported to the Acolyte Realm, and must wait some time to reenter. Hunters are unable to enter Forbidden Grove unless the gates are open, but are able to travel to other locations at any time.

The Forbidden Grove gates work on a 16-hour open, 4-hour closed cycle.

Mice in this location may steal points, gold, or multiple pieces of cheese if not captured.

Forbidden Grove Mice

Realm Ripper Mouse

The Realm Ripper Mouse is only available once the Forbidden Grove has closed. It is also the only mouse that can be encountered once the Forbidden Grove closes.
In addition to the three cheeses with wider attraction in the Forbidden Grove, the Realm Ripper can also be attracted with Standard Cheese, SUPER|brie+, and Runic Cheese.
Capturing a Realm Ripper Mouse transports the Hunter to the Acolyte Realm and is the only way Hunters can travel to that location.

Cheese Preference and Loot

Radioactive Blue Cheese attracts the relatively weaker mice found in the Forbidden Grove. These mice are weakest to Shadow weapons
Ancient Cheese attracts almost all mice in the Forbidden Grove. Arcane weapons are strongly recommended when hunting with Ancient Cheese
Moon Cheese significantly reduces the mouse population in the Forbidden Grove.

Mice with Special Requirements

Hunting Strategy

Hunters planning to hunt in the Forbidden Grove are advised not to do so until they craft the Arcane Capturing Rod Of Never Yielding Mystery as well as stock an ample supply of Ancient cheese for the hunt. These are necessary in order to attract and catch the more powerful Forgotten type mice in this location.

Adventure Book

Hunters can complete steps to Capture the Acolyte Mouse by obtaining Runes to craft Runic Cheese and by catching a Realm Ripper in the Forbidden Grove.

Hunting tips by Larry

Only the most capable MouseHunters make it to the Forbidden Grove! I'm impressed.

This area may look like a garden, but it is actually a giant trap designed to catch the powerful Acolyte mouse! Every few hours the massive stone gates close, sealing this area off from the Catacombs. When the gates close, a thick fog fills the grove and anyone still inside is transported into the Acolyte Realm upon capturing a Realm Ripper Mouse.

The mice here are weak to Arcane traps and are highly attracted to Ancient Cheese. To make Ancient Cheese, combine three Stale cheese with six Ionized Salt. You can also add three Magic Essence to the same recipe to double the amount of cheese produced.

The mice within this grove are trying to reverse the effects of the portal to keep a two-way gate open at all times. Should they accomplish this goal, armies of mice will soon invade Gnawnia at the command of the evil Acolyte!

Be on the look out for magical runes dropped by the mice here. Runes are used to craft Runic cheese, which is the only cheese capable of attracting an Acolyte.

Remember that when the gates close, Realm Ripper mice will be in the grove. If you capture a Realm Ripper, you will be transported to the Acolyte Realm. Keep this fact in mind before leaving your trap for long periods of time.

Location-Specific Effects

Bases

  • The Runic Base is a limited edition base that increases the chance of Runes being dropped as loot, as well as adding a small chance of receiving an extra Rune.

Shops

There are no shops available in the Forbidden Grove. Shops for the Bristle Woods region can be found in the Catacombs.

History and Trivia

  • The banner artwork when the grove is open actually contains the warning mentioned in the location overview: "Beware young soul, should the stone gates close while within this grove, you will find yourself caught between realms."
