Food in the desert is so scare that there is fierce competition between mice over it. Watch out for the vicious grublings in this area, who hoard food and Garden Essences like no other mouse!

Overview

Sand Dunes is a hunting location in Sandtail Desert region.

Living Garden, Lost City, Sand Dunes, Twisted Garden, Cursed City, and Sand Crypts are 6 connected hunting locations, forming the Living Garden complex.

They require the minimum rank of Baron/Baroness and the Living Garden Key to access.

Sand Dunes can only be traveled to when the Hunter's map is in Normal state.

Normal World and Twisted World

At a time, among 6 hunting locations in the Living Garden complex, only 3 can be traveled to. This depends on whether the Hunter's map is in Normal or Twisted state:

The map state can be changed from Normal to Twisted by:

Doing so will generate a journal entry:
On catching Carmine the Apothecary, a light flashes and a spell she had prepared in advance erupts! Nightmarish tendrils of dark smoke burst from the ground around me, and before I knew it the world had changed before my very eyes into a wild and twisted version of itself.
I can feel this world itself attempting to reject me and send me back, but I must stay as long as I am able to find out what Carmine is doing in this hidden, dark place.

The map state can be changed from Twisted to Normal by either:

Doing any of the actions above will generate a journal entry:
Almost as if an illusion suddenly shattered, the world around me snaps back to normal. Using X Cheese has brought me back to the normal world.

The Living Garden Sequence

In the Living Garden complex, the Hunter follows 6 main steps in sequence.
Step 2b can be done in Sand Dunes.

1 Living Garden Standard Cheese Dewthief Petal Dewthief Camembert
2a Lost City Dewthief Camembert Dreamfluff Herbs Duskshade Camembert

5b Sand Crypts Graveblossom Camembert Lunaria Petal

Grubling Stampede Minigame

In Sand Dunes, the Grubling Stampede mechanics are in effect:

  • The Stampede state can be Active or Inactive.
  • The state is Inactive when the Hunter visits Sand Dunes for the first time.
  • The state has a chance to be changed from Inactive to Active after every hunt.
When the Stampede activates, it generates a journal entry:
It's a stampede! Grubling Mice are running wild for 15 more hunts!
  • The state will change back to Inactive after 15 hunts in Sand Dunes.
When the Stampede ends, it generates a journal entry:
Aw, the Grubling stampede is over. Next time, Grublings!
I guess Grubling Chow Charms won't be needed until the next stampede!

Heads-Up Display
