A trap skin is an item that changes the appearance of the weapon to which they are applied.
Removable skins can be applied and removed using the Change Trap Skin button above the Trap set-up image on the Hunter's Camp page.
Blueprint skins make permanent changes to an existing trap through the Crafting process. Once applied, the changes cannot be undone.
With two exception, skins do not affect trap statistics when applied. The exceptions are both for limited edition traps: the Golem Guardian Trap skins, and the Isle Idol Trap skins, the latter of which makes the trap useful against all three of the Tribal Isles tribes.
Removable skins
Removable skins can be used to temporarily change a trap's appearance, letting Hunters easily express their unique style without the need to purchase several expensive traps. [1]
Hunters can arm their trap skins through the trap selector portion of the user interface.
These skins are located in the Hunter's Inventory as a sub-tab within the Traps page.
Additional information on purchasing options and costs can be found on the individual trap skin pages.
Blueprint skins
Blueprint skins are applied to the weapon by crafting it with the smashed trap parts. Unlike removable trap skins, the process is irreversible and the new newly skinned traps cannot be used to complete a few specific tasks in Library Assignments. Weapons with blueprint skins appear on the Hunter's Profile as a different item from their original counterparts and cannot be smashed with the Hunter's Hammer. These skins are located in the hunter's Inventory under the Blueprints section of the Crafting Items tab.

History and trivia
- Trap skins were first introduced on 11 November 2010 with the start of the King's Giveaway (2010).
- The skin system underwent an overhaul on 23 September 2011, when removable skins were made available. The in-game names of the original type of skins were changed from "skins" to "blueprints."
- The introduction of the Isle Idol Box Set on 7 March 2013, during MouseHunt's Fifth Birthday, provided the first Limited Edition skin, the first time a skin could be applied to a Limited Edition weapon, and the first time that a skin could change a weapon's statistics.
