After capturing Carmine the Apothecary in the Living Garden, the hunter is transferred to a different version of the location, the Twisted Garden. This also will allow travel to the alternate version of the Lost City, the Cursed City, and the alternate version of the Sand Dunes, the Sand Crypts. If the Hunter switches to an incorrect cheese at any time, or runs out of the correct cheese for the twisted versions of these locations, the Hunter will be immediately returned to the normal versions of these locations.

Long ago something strange happened to this city: it became trapped between two dimensions. You will only find ghostly apparitions here, but do not be fooled - these mice are very much alive! Existing in multiple dimensions has its advantages and the mice have learned to control them. These mice can swipe your cheese while still being mostly immune to your trap. It would seem that they are bound to our reality by their inherent magical aspect. Because of this weakness, your Arcane traps will be extremely effective at countering these wispy foes.

This city suffered a terrible curse and was lost between dimensions! The mice residing here are ghostly apparitions as well, trapped between dimensions in an incorporeal state.

Overview

Lost City is a hunting location in Sandtail Desert region.

Living Garden, Lost City, Sand Dunes, Twisted Garden, Cursed City, and Sand Crypts are 6 connected hunting locations, forming the Living Garden complex.

They require the minimum rank of Baron/Baroness and the Living Garden Key to access.

Lost City can only be traveled to when the Hunter's map is in Normal state.

Normal World and Twisted World

At a time, among 6 hunting locations in the Living Garden complex, only 3 can be traveled to. This depends on whether the Hunter's map is in Normal or Twisted state:

The map state can be changed from Normal to Twisted by:

Doing so will generate a journal entry:
On catching Carmine the Apothecary, a light flashes and a spell she had prepared in advance erupts! Nightmarish tendrils of dark smoke burst from the ground around me, and before I knew it the world had changed before my very eyes into a wild and twisted version of itself.
I can feel this world itself attempting to reject me and send me back, but I must stay as long as I am able to find out what Carmine is doing in this hidden, dark place.

The map state can be changed from Twisted to Normal by either:

Doing any of the actions above will generate a journal entry:
Almost as if an illusion suddenly shattered, the world around me snaps back to normal. Using X Cheese has brought me back to the normal world.

The Living Garden Sequence

In the Living Garden complex, the Hunter follows 6 main steps in sequence.
Step 2a can be done in Lost City.

Step Location Cheese Used Loot To Obtain
1 Living Garden Standard Cheese Dewthief Petal Dewthief Camembert

Lost Curse Minigame

In Lost City, the Lost Curse mechanics are in effect:

 • The state can be Cursed or Curse Lifted
 • The state is Cursed when the Hunter visits Lost City for the first time.
 • The state can be changed from Cursed to Curse Lifted by catching any non-Cursed mouse with Searcher Charm armed.
 • Lifting the curse will remove Cursed Mouse from attraction pool in the next 3 hunts in Lost City.
When the effect activates, it generates a journal entry:
The power of my Searcher Charm dispelled the Lost Curse, lifting the curse from the Lost City!
I should unequip my Searcher Charms and save them for later.
 • The state will be changed from Curse Lifted to Cursed upon encountering Cursed Mouse.
When the effect activates, it generates a journal entry:
The terrible power of the Cursed Mouse re-ignited the curse on the Lost City!

The Hunter can arm the Safeguard Charm to avoid encountering the Cursed Mouse.

Heads-Up Display

Hunting Tips by Larry

I hope you managed to build up a large collection of Dewthief Cheese, hunter. The mice in this city don't seem to like anything else!

If you're looking to collect the most Garden Essences here, you'll want to dispel the Lost Curse that affects you while here. To do that, purchase a Searcher Charm from the store and catch a mouse. Simple as that! When the curse is dispelled, the Essence Collector Mouse is free to roam, and you're free to catch it and steal his cache of Garden Essences! But beware, should the Cursed Mouse show, the Lost Curse will be renewed and you'll need to use another Searcher Charm again.

Be sure to collect all the Dreamfluff Herbs you can while you're here. You'll need them to create cheese to keep hunting with!
