− | ==Toboggan Courses== | + | ===Navigating the HUD=== |
+ | When not on a course, Hunters can track their Toboggan Planks, Toboggan Steel, Toboggan Twine, Toboggan Wax, and Toboggan Nitro and the amount of Arctic Asiago in their inventory. Hunters can also make Toboggan Upgrades and select Toboggan Courses. When all upgrades have been made to a Hunter's toboggan, a button appears allowing them to convert any 8 upgrade materials into 1 Toboggan Nitro.
+ | |||
+ | Once Hunters have selected a course, the HUD shows:
+ | *The course name | ||
+ | *The Hunter's inventory of Arctic Asiago, which can be armed and disarmed
+ | *A portion of the course itself, including:
+ | :*Hazards and Bonuses
+ | :*The Hunter's position on the course
+ | :*The Rival's position on the course (provided the distance between the Hunter and Rival isn't too large)
+ | *The speedometer showing the Hunter's current speed
+ | *The Hunter's inventory of Toboggan Nitro, which can be armed and disarmed
+ | *An overhead view of the course showing:
+ | :*The Hunter's position with a blue arrow to the left
+ | :*The Rival's position with a red arrow to the right
+ | :*The amount of the course completed as a bold black line
+ | :*The distance covered and total distance
+ | |||
+ | From either version of the HUD, Hunters can access the Snowball Showdown and see their inventory of Throwable Snowballs.
+ | |||
+ | Most areas of the HUD have tool-tips when moused over, allowing Hunters to view additional information.
+ | |||
+ | ===Winter Aura=== | ||
+ | Once Hunters have completed the Win the Tobogganing Competition Event Adventure, they are awarded the Winter Aura.
+ | |||
+ | The Winter Aura provides +5 Luck to the Hunter's trap. Mice throughout the Kingdom will begin dropping festive loot, including:
+ | *Festive Ultimate Luck Charm
+ | *Festive Ultimate Power Charm
+ | *Snowball Charm | ||
+ | *SB | ||
+ | *Winter Hunt Gift Box | ||

From the HUD, Hunters can use the Upgrade button to improve various aspects of their toboggan. 3 areas can be improved upon: Speed, Power, and Special, and there are 3 levels of improvement available for each area. The areas can be improved upon independently from each other, but each area can only be improved in order. Furthermore, the loot required for Special upgrades is not available in Green Circle courses, so at least one Speed or Power upgrade is required to hunt in Blue Square courses first. | From the HUD, Hunters can use the Upgrade button to improve various aspects of their toboggan. 3 areas can be improved upon: Speed, Power, and Special, and there are 3 levels of improvement available for each area. Overview
The Extreme Toboggan Challenge is a location in the Gnawnia region requiring a minimum rank of Recruit to enter.
Mice in the Extreme Toboggan Challenge will not steal points, gold, or multiple pieces of cheese if not captured.
It is recommended that Hunters use the Great Winter Hunt Cheeses to progress through the area. Arctic Asiago Cheese is preferred over other cheeses for its bonus effect while on a Toboggan Course.
When not on a course, Hunters can track their Toboggan Planks, Toboggan Steel, Toboggan Twine, Toboggan Wax, and Toboggan Nitro and the amount of Arctic Asiago in their inventory. Hunters can also make Toboggan Upgrades and select Toboggan Courses. When all upgrades have been made to a Hunter's toboggan, a button appears allowing them to convert any 8 upgrade materials into 1 Toboggan Nitro.
Once Hunters have selected a course, the HUD shows:
- The course name
- The Hunter's inventory of Arctic Asiago, which can be armed and disarmed
- A portion of the course itself, including:
- Hazards and Bonuses
- The Hunter's position on the course
- The Rival's position on the course (provided the distance between the Hunter and Rival isn't too large)
- The speedometer showing the Hunter's current speed
- The Hunter's inventory of Toboggan Nitro, which can be armed and disarmed
- An overhead view of the course showing:
- The Hunter's position with a blue arrow to the left
- The Rival's position with a red arrow to the right
- The amount of the course completed as a bold black line
- The distance covered and total distance
From either version of the HUD, Hunters can access the Snowball Showdown and see their inventory of Throwable Snowballs.
Most areas of the HUD have tool-tips when moused over, allowing Hunters to view additional information.
Winter Aura
Once Hunters have completed the Win the Tobogganing Competition Event Adventure, they are awarded the Winter Aura.
The Winter Aura provides +5 Luck to the Hunter's trap. Mice throughout the Kingdom will begin dropping festive loot, including:
- Festive Ultimate Luck Charm
- Festive Ultimate Power Charm
- Snowball Charm
- SUPER|brie+
- Winter Hunt Gift Box
The effect will last through 31 January 2016.
Toboggan Courses
There are 5 levels of difficulty in the Extreme Toboggan Challenge.
From least to most difficult, the courses are: Green Circle, Blue Square, Black Diamond, Double Black Diamond, and Orange Rectangle
The only requirement for unlocking more difficult courses is the number of upgrades made to the Hunter's toboggan.
The courses offer the same upgrade material rewards regardless of whether Hunters win or lose, but area specific rewards are given if the Hunter wins.
Upgrading The Toboggan
From the HUD, Hunters can use the Upgrade button to improve various aspects of their toboggan. 3 areas can be improved upon: Speed, Power, and Special, and there are 3 levels of improvement available for each area. The areas can be improved upon independently from each other, but each area can only be improved in order. Furthermore, the loot required for Special upgrades is not available in Green Circle courses, so at least one Speed or Power upgrade is required to hunt in Blue Square courses first.
Once all upgrades have been made, any combination of 8 Toboggan Planks, Toboggan Steel, Toboggan Twine, or Toboggan Wax can be combined to create 1 Toboggan Nitro.
Completing all nine upgrades will earn the Hunter a Toboggan Theme for their Journal.

Course Hazards and Bonuses
Hunters will encounter Hazards and Bonuses when racing their toboggan on the various courses. Both can be affected by upgrading the toboggan.
On a hunt, the speed of the toboggan will move the Hunter forward that many meters and all bonuses and penalties encountered during that hunt will then be applied and set the speed available for the next hunt.
Hazards
Hunters will encounter Hazards which reduce speed if not defended against. Certain upgrades will increase the chance that Hunters will successfully defend against Hazards.
A Failure to Catch or a Failure to Attract will reduce the toboggan speed by 2.

Mice -- Course Rivals and the Stuck Snowball Mouse
The Course Rival and Stuck Snowball mice are not caught in the usual way. A catch is recorded as a Bonus Hunt and they do not consume cheese or charms when encountered.
If a Hunter wins against a Course Rival, a catch is recorded as a Bonus Hunt.
If a Hunter loses to a Course Rival, no encounter with the mouse occurs and, therefore, a miss is not recorded on the Hunter's stats.
The Stuck Snowball Mouse may be encountered as a Bonus while on all courses except the Green Circle. A catch is recorded as a Bonus Hunt.
The Stuck Snowball Mouse drops Toboggan Nitro and Arctic Asiago Cheese with each hunt. Beginning with the 6th hunt, it will also drop a Satchel of Gold which increases in value with every 5th hunt. Beginning with the 11th hunt, it will also drop Winter Charms and SUPER|brie+.
It is not possible to fail to catch on a Bonus Hunt, even with Parental traps armed.

Hunting tips by Larry
Welcome to this year's Great Winter Hunt celebration: The Extreme Toboggan Challenge!
The King has provided everyone with a basic toboggan so you can get started right away!
Dust off your festive cheeses as these mice love all those old Winter Hunt favourites! However, Arctic Asiago works best as its icy surface greatly reduces friction while flying down the course, giving your toboggan a +1 MPH speed bonus!
No festive cheese? No problem! You can obtain Arctic Asiago from the Premium Shop OR while hunting with any other cheese.
Click the "Launch" button above and check out the available courses. Take on the rival, collect toboggan parts, and upgrade your toboggan to unlock new courses! If you manage to beat the rival to the bottom, you will earn bonus rewards!
Completing courses awards you with valuable toboggan parts which can be used to upgrade your toboggan to further boost your speed and ability to deal with obstacles. If you happen to come across any Toboggan Nitro, you can use that for a substantial speed boost!
So get your sled shined up, grab some cheese and hit the slopes! The course is gonna move ya! See you at the finish line!
