So this is what happened to the Lost City! It's become deeply cursed, with terrible and powerful mice living within and taking the safety of everyone around them into their own careless hands!

Overview

The Cursed City is a location in the Sandtail Desert region requiring a minimum rank of Baron/Baroness, the Living Garden Key, and capturing Carmine the Apothecary in the Living Garden to enter. The Living Garden Key is obtained from the Cartographer at the Muridae Market.

Mice in the Cursed City are weak only to Arcane weapons.

Graveblossom Camembert is required for attracting all mice in the Cursed City. Hunters must use Bravery Charms, Clarity Charms, and Shine Charms and play the Fear, Darkness and Mist Curses Minigame to attract the Essence Guardian Mouse or Dark Magi.

Hunters must collect Plumepearl Herbs to use in purchasing Lunaria Camembert. Lunaria Camembert is required for attracting Twisted Carmine, and with a Shattering Charm armed, Shattered Carmine in the Twisted Garden.

Accessing the Twisted World

The Twisted World locations of Twisted Garden, Cursed City, and Sand Crypts can only be accessed by capturing Carmine the Apothecary with Duskshade Camembert in the Living Garden. Capturing Carmine the Apothecary will move the Hunter to the Twisted Garden and the following message is displayed:

On catching Carmine the Apothecary, a light flashes and a spell she had prepared in advance erupts! Nightmarish tendrils of dark smoke burst from the ground around me, and before I knew it the world had changed before my very eyes into a wild and twisted version of itself.
I can feel this world itself attempting to reject me and send me back, but I must stay as long as I am able to find out what Carmine is doing in this hidden, dark place.

Hunting with any cheese other than Graveblossom Camembert in the Cursed City will cause Hunters to be moved to the Lost City and the following message will be displayed:

Almost as if an illusion suddenly shattered, the world around me snaps back to normal. Using X Cheese has brought me back to the normal world.

If an M400 Hunting Research Assignment requires capturing the M400 in the Cursed City, Hunters can encounter it, but will be dropped to normal reality for hunting with the wrong cheese.

The Living Garden Sequence

Hunters will need to hunt the areas in the Living Garden sub-region in a specific order. The following steps outline the basic requirements for accessing and hunting in each location. Additional information on minigames and other activities can be found on the individual location pages.

The steps of the cycle that can be completed in the Cursed City location are highlighted in bold.

• Step 1: Living Garden

Step 1a: Hunt with Standard Cheese in the Living Garden to collect Dewthief Petals.

Step 1b: Use Dewthief Petals to purchase Dewthief Camembert.

• Step 2: Lost City and Sand Dunes - steps a and b can be done in any order.

Step 2a: Hunt with Dewthief Camembert in the Lost City to collect Dreamfluff Herbs.

Step 2b: Hunt with Dewthief Camembert in the Sand Dunes to collect Duskshade Petals.

Step 2c: Use Dreamfluff Herbs and Duskshade Petals to purchase Duskshade Camembert.

• Step 3: Living Garden

Step 3a: Hunt with Duskshade Camembert in the Living Garden.

Step 3b: Capture Carmine the Apothecary to open the Twisted World and travel to the Twisted Garden.

• Step 4: Twisted Garden

Step 4a: Hunt with Duskshade Camembert in the Twisted Garden to collect Graveblossom Petals.

Step 4b: Use Graveblossom Petals to purchase Graveblossom Camembert.

• Step 5: Cursed City and Sand Crypts - steps a and b can be done in any order.

Step 5a: Hunt with Graveblossom Camembert in the Cursed City to collect Plumepearl Herbs.

Step 5b: Hunt with Graveblossom Camembert in the Sand Crypts to collect Lunaria Petals.

Step 5c: Use Plumepearl Herbs and Lunaria Petals to purchase Lunaria Camembert.

Hunt with Lunaria Camembert in the Twisted Garden to attract Twisted Carmine.

Cursed City HUD

Hunters can access and track the following using the Heads-Up Display:

• The Fear, Darkness and Mist Curses Minigame
• Garden Petals and Herbs
• Garden Essences
• The Book of Living Recipes

Fear, Darkness and Mist Curses Minigame

The mechanism for this minigame is similar to that of the Lost Curse Minigame. There are three curses to dispel in this location:

• Fear Curse: - Dispelled by catching a mouse with a Bravery Charm armed
• Mist Curse: - Dispelled by catching a mouse with a Clarity Charm armed
• Darkness Curse: - Dispelled by catching a mouse with a Shine Charm armed

Bravery Charms, Clarity Charms, and Shine Charms can be purchased in the Cursed City Charm Shoppe in exchange for 300 gold and 1 Ber Essence each.

All three curses must be dispelled for Hunters to encounter the Essence Guardian Mouse or Dark Magi.

When all three curses are lifted, the Corrupt Mouse cannot be encountered for the first three hunts.

Upon catching a mouse with any of the 3 charms armed, the following message is displayed in the Hunter's Journal:

The power of my [Charm] dispelled the [Curse], banishing the mists from the Cursed City!
I should unequip my [Charms] and save them for later.

The minigame will end once the hunter attracts a Corrupt Mouse, whether or not it is caught. At that point the following message will be displayed:

The terrible power of the Corrupt Mouse re-ignited all of the curses in the Cursed City!

When the curses have been lifted, Hunters can arm a Shattering Charm to attract the Dark Magi. The Corrupt Mouse will not be present for the first 5 hunts with the curses lifted and a Shattering Charm armed.

Hunters can arm the Safeguard Charm to avoid encountering the Corrupt Mouse. Safeguard Charms are regularly found in Living Garden Treasure Chests and are available for purchase on the Marketplace.

Cursed City Mice

All mice found in the Cursed City are part of the Lost City Mice group.
All mice found here are weak only to Arcane weapons.

Corrupt Mouse

Capturing the Corrupt Mouse will restore the Cursed City Curses in the Fear, Darkness and Mist Curses Minigame. This mouse will not be encountered for the 3 hunts (5 hunts with Shattering Charm armed) immediately after the curses are lifted.
Safeguard Charms can be armed to prevent the attraction of the Corrupt Mouse.

Dark Magi Mouse

Hunters wishing to capture the Dark Magi Mouse must lift all three Cursed City Curses and arm a Shattering Charm to attract it.

Essence Guardian Mouse

Hunters wishing to attract the Essence Guardian Mouse must lift the Cursed City Curses as part of the Fear, Darkness and Mist Curses Minigame.

Mice with Special Requirements

• M400 – This mouse will sometimes be available in the Cursed City when Hunters are actively working an M400 Hunting Research Assignment. It is attracted only to Fusion Fondue which will not attract any other mice. It drops a wide variety of loot.

Hunting Strategy

Hunters should arm Graveblossom Camembert to collect Plumepearl Herbs from the mice found in the Cursed City. Hunters can then use Plumepearl Herbs (along with Lunaria Petals) to purchase Lunaria Camembert.

Hunters can then return to the Twisted Garden and arm Lunaria Camembert to capture Twisted Carmine and, with a Shattering Charm armed, Shattered Carmine.

Hunters wishing to attract the Essence Guardian Mouse or Dark Magi must play the Fear, Darkness and Mist Curses Minigame which requires using Bravery Charms, Clarity Charms, and Shine Charms to dispel the Cursed City Curses.

Capturing Dark Magi

Lifting all three curses in the Fear, Darkness and Mist Curses Minigame and arming a Shattering Charm with Graveblossom Camembert allows Hunters to attract the Dark Magi.

Shattering Charms can be crafted with the proper ingredients.

Many mice in the Cursed City are often found on Relic Hunter Treasure Maps and Living Garden Treasure Maps.

Hunting tips by Larry

You're going to need a lot of Graveblossom Camembert here. The mice in these crypts don't seem to like anything else! Plus, any other cheese just doesn't feel... appropriate here in this world.

This city is heavily cursed, with not one, not two, but three separate curses! You'll need to purchase and use three charms to dispel the curses here, one charm for each curse. And beware, should the Corrupted Mouse show, all three curses will be renewed!

The reward is more than worth it though, as with all three curses lifted, the Essence Guardian mouse can be attracted to your trap, and they carry more and better Garden Essences than any other mouse here.

While you're here, be sure to collect Plumepearl Herbs so you can use it to create more advanced cheese to keep hunting with!
