Poor Calamity Carl chose a poor location to build his toy factory. The Festive Comet has completely destroyed his facility and scattered toy parts across the Kingdom. The King and Carl need your help to rebuild the toys and save the Great Winter Hunt!
Description and Requirements
The Festive Comet is a special location first available during The Great Winter Hunt '09, and again during The Great Winter Hunt 2010 and in 2011. The description for the area in the first two years was: This celestial event of festive proportions has crashed into Gnawnia! Although the original origin of this cheer-spreading comet are unknown, hunters from across the Kingdom are calling its arrival cause for festive celebration!. There are no special requirements for hunters to enter this area. Mice are unable to steal gold or points in this location but may steal cheese if not caught.
Catch statistics from the Festive Comet are grouped with those from the Heart of the Tiger Party under the King's Party Zone location name.
If a hunter was still in the Festive Comet when it melted the first time (January 2010), he was moved back to Gnawnia at no cost with the following message:
"As the last snowflake of the Festive Comet melted I moved to the Town of Gnawnia to continue hunting."
Hunters remaining at the Festive Comet as it melted the second time (January 2011) were silently relocated to the Vacant Lot at the same location on the Travel map, but with a much smaller selection of mice. The developers stated that after the majority of hunters traveled out on their own, the stragglers would be relocated to the Meadow.
Shops
These are the shops that can be found in the Festive Comet:
During the Great Winter Hunt '09 there were no shops at the Festive Comet but the Festive Gift Shoppe was introduced along with this location. The Trapsmith, Cheese Shoppe and Cartographer were introduced during the Great Winter Hunt 2010 event, and the Charm Shoppe was added during the Great Winter Hunt 2011 event.

Hunting Strategy
Great Winter Hunt 2011
Hunters will receive 30 Festive Feta when they travel to Festive Comet for the first time this year. Hunters can hunt in Festive Comet using standard cheese or SUPER|brie+ to obtain Festive Feta as loot from the festive mice. In this location, there are mice that are weak to different power types (Hydro, Physical, Forgotten and Tactical). The hunters need to pick the trap with the Power Type effective against their most desired mice. Winter Charms are necessary to attract the Snowflake Mouse.
During this event, Festive Feta are available daily from Loyalty Chests. To obtain more Festive Feta, hunters can also set Festive Feta as the gift on their Hunter's Profile and get their friends to send it to them. Alternatively, hunters who prefer instant gratification may choose the donation option.
Once sufficient Festive Feta is collected, hunter can stay at the Festive Comet or travel to any location depending on their Hunter's Title, the Maps and Keys they have, the mice they wish to catch and the Toy Parts they wish to collect. Hunters must use Festive Feta in order to attract mice that drop toy parts. In addition, they can choose to use Winter Screw Charm, Winter Spring Charm or Winter Wood Charm to attract more mice that drop these respective parts.
On obtaining the correct quantity of toy parts, hunters will be able to build toys via the toy builder interface, accessible by clicking on the "Build Toys!" button on the HUD. Building toys not only contributes to the Toy Drive Goal, it also rewards hunters with Toy Receipts and Ice Coins. These can be used to purchase hunting supplies at the Festive Comet shops. Hunters with 500 or more Toy Receipts are eligible to claim a set of Nutcracker Trap Blueprints from the King.

Oh dear, poor Calamity Carl chose a poor location to build his toy factory. The impact of the Festive Comet has completely decimated his once joyous workshop and scattered parts of broken toys across the entire Kingdom, which are now in the paws of enemy mice!
If Gnawnia is to have a successful celebration this Winter Hunt, we'll need the help of hunters to hunt down mice to find scattered toy parts and rebuild all the lost toys!
The festive mice that are holding onto the toy parts have become wise to the tricks of hunters from previous Winter Hunts. No longer do they come near traps baited with sweet Gingerbread or carefully Seasoned Gouda, but do not lose hope! The secret to attracting Festive Mice lies at the comet itself -- Festive Feta Cheese!
The King's cleanup crew has already discovered a large deposit of Festive Feta and is handing out rations inside hunters' daily Loyalty Chests. Additionally, if you find yourself needing some more you can hunt at the Festive Comet and search for a few extra pieces.
Once you've obtained some Festive Feta, it's time to hunt for mice carrying toy parts! Head anywhere across the entire Kingdom and use Festive Feta to lure winter mice out from their hiding spots. Try hunting in different locations, and you'll no doubt find different toy parts depending on where you choose to hunt.
Once you've found toy parts, use the toy builder button to construct toys and have them immediately shipped to the castle where they'll be safe. To show the magnitude of your efforts, the King will award you a number of Toy Receipts depending on the difficulty of the toy you constructed. As a final reward for helping, you'll be able to claim the blueprints to a newly-designed festive-themed trap once you have obtained 500 Festive Toy Receipts.
Your mission will no doubt be a long one requiring patience, perseverance and plenty of hot cocoa. Saving this winter celebration now rests on your shoulders, brave hunter! Let the Great Winter Hunt begin!
Great Winter Hunt 2009/2010
In this location, there are mice that are weak to different power types (Hydro, Physical, Forgotten and Tactical). The hunters need to pick the trap with the power type effective against their most desired mice. Alternatively, hunters may consider using the luckiest trap available to them.
SUPER|brie+ and Gingerbread cheese are the only cheeses that are consistently effective in attracting all of the festive mice that are exclusive to this location, though SUPER|brie+ seems to be better in obtaining the Christmas Tree Mouse (see the main Christmas Tree Mouse article) and is essentially necessary to attract the Worker Mouse. The use of conventional cheeses such as Brie or Swiss does not attract the festive mice as much and eliminates altogether the attraction of several mice including the Scrooge, Christmas Tree, Troll, Hydra and Gargoyle. The overall attraction rate of regular cheese is rather low in this location, but the Abominable Snow Mouse is still attracted to your trap.
During the Great Winter Hunt 2010, a new wave of mice invaded the Festive Comet. Led by the Scrooge Mouse, these stronger mice (Diamond, Gladiator, Gold, Harpy, Lambent Crystal, Monster, Mouse of Winter Past, Stealth, Vinetail, and Zombie) have been found to be especially attracted to Seasoned Gouda cheese. The Squeaker Claws Mouse can only be attracted once a hunter has lit their 12 Festive lights by catching the 12 Mice of Winter; this mouse has been found to be especially attracted to Nutmeg cheese. If hunters find the 2010 Winter Star, they will have saved the Great Winter Hunt 2010 and restored Holiday Cheer to the Festive Comet.
Hunting tips by Larry
Welcome to the Festive Comet, MouseHunter!
This massive snowy comet smashed into Gnawnia resulting in an explosion of candy canes and snow! It's arrival in Gnawnia marks the beginning of the Great Winter Hunt!
Some pesky Elf mice have ran off with presents. If you catch an Elf mouse you'll find a gift specially wrapped depending on your Hunter's Title. Many of the gifts contain a little cheese to help you in your hunting, but occasionally you may just find something a little more special. To attract Elf mice more often, I suggest using SUPER|brie+ or Gingerbread Cheese as bait.
During the lighting of the Great Winter Tree, barrels of egg nog suddently exploded and the mice used the distraction to steal the star from the top of the tree! The mice have a schedule for their devious plot, and the bosses will only reveal themselves if the minions fail. Click the calandar icon on your heads-up display to see when each mouse is being released.1
Don't forget your mittens and toque! Happy holiday hunting!
1 When the Comet crashed at the start of The Great Winter Hunt 2010, the following text was originally in place of this third paragraph:
On November 29th is the Great Winter Star Ceremony. There's always a few mice that try and crash the party so make sure to check back and be ready to defend the Festive Comet!
Festive Hunting tips by Larry
There's a lot going on at the Festive Comet and Larry the Friendly Knight wanted to give a few pointers to hunters on how best to hunt the various groups of mice invading the comet.
Gingerbread will attract the 12 Mice of Winter, with SUPER|brie+ being even more effective.
Seasoned Gouda will not only attract the 12 Mice of Winter, but will also attract The Three Ghosts of Winter and other powerful mice that drop upgrade pieces for the Explosive Toboggan Ride.
